The Wall Street Journal reports Twelve More Democrats Join Chorus Calling on Biden to Exit Race
A surge of additional Democratic lawmakers called on President Biden to abandon his re-election bid on Friday, signaling a snowballing campaign to replace Biden even as he and his advisers insist publicly that he has no plans to withdraw.
Ten House Democrats, including Zoe Lofgren of California, Marc Veasey of Texas and Greg Landsman of Ohio, all called on him to end his campaign. Sens. Martin Heinrich (D., N.M.) and Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) joined the group, bringing the tally to more than 30 congressional Democrats who have urged the president to remove himself from the top of the ticket.
Brown, who is campaigning in one of the toughest Senate races this fall, said he wants full attention on the top issues Ohio residents have raised with him. “I think the President should end his campaign,” said Brown, who chairs the powerful Senate Banking Committee. Four Democratic senators have now called on Biden to quit the race.
Also Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris defended Biden during a contentious call with Democratic donors at a time when wealthy financiers feel misled by the president and are vowing to not give money to his campaign. The call abruptly ended before Harris would field any donor questions.
On the Friday donor call, Harris and others tried to tamp down a growing revolt. Harris didn’t take questions. When donors tried to speak, the organizer quickly ended the call.
Rep. Seth Moulton (D., Mass.), who had previously called on Biden to step aside, wrote in an op-ed in the Boston Globe on Friday that Biden didn’t recognize him when they saw each other in Normandy, France, for the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Jim Rickards made a very interesting point. He noted that there is exactly ONE way to make the idea of a Harris Presidency “appealing” to the masses…add Barack Obama as her VP. Analyzing the wording of the Constitution, there IS a way to wiggle him into that role, in my view. It’s even conceivable that he could re-ascend into the Big Seat without technically violating the wording of the Constitution. A very interesting observation, and given that the Dems are now in “Hail Mary” mode, it’s becoming my base case now.

With the promise of a pre-convention, virtual meeting where official roll call will be taken, the DNC has pretty much said it’s going to be anything but democratic.
If the DNC nominates Biden/Harris during the virtual meeting or waits until the Convention next month, then major concerns by the 30+ outspoken Democrats in Congress will be squashed.
If the DNC nominates someone who did not participate in the primaries, then voters will have had no say in the DNC candidate.

I managed to suffer through about 20 minutes of a Kamala Harris speech on Youtube earlier today until I gave up in disgust. (Maybe it was 10 minutes and seemed like 20.) Apart from her annoyingly nasal delivery (not really her fault, I suppose), it was just the most outrageous bunch of platitudes and, to use the technical phrase, BS.
She claimed the Repubs want to “ban abortion at the federal level” which to my understanding is not their official policy.
There was applause after almost every sentence, with occasional cheering. It sounded so artificial I wonder if it was canned, as with the old sitcom laughtracks of old.
She is so inauthentic and unlikable, the Dems wouldn’t have a chance with her. Biden promised a “woman of colour” VP pick… a DEI hire if ever we saw one.
She’s pre-DEI. She did it old style – oldest profession style.
She has to win because she has access to the money. I think they’ll find a way to Clyburn I mean shoehorn her in at the last minute. Then, they’ll add their ONLY superstar, Barry, to the ticket as VP. There is a loophole in the Constitution that I think they very well may exploit out of desperation.

It’s pathetic watching Biden’s supporters try every angle to keep him in or anoint Harris to take his place. How anyone can honestly support a person afflicted with dementia for president is beyond me. It’s not Biden’s age that is the problem, it’s that he often doesn’t have a clue where he is or who those around him are. “Coconut” Harris is not taken seriously by most people. She has been successful at NOTHING as VP over the past 4 years. Then there is the excessive talking with her hands, where she looks like she is trying to fly away. As with Biden, w/o a teleprompter, she is prone to going off on nonsensical tangents and streams of consciousness as she replies to simple questions.
If either Biden or Harris are at the top of the DEM ticket, Trump wins in a landslide.
Could be a good time to better understand the DNC rules on nominations and withdrawls. What happens to Biden’s war chest of political contributions? How are the replacement candidates selected? What is the process to nominate one of the replacement candidates? When are the VP runningmates announced? So many questions.
Questions can all be dealt with in due course. No need to get stuck in analysis paralysis, which is what too much planning leads to.
The important decision RIGHT NOW is get someone in place who can win. Biden/Harris can’t win.

Ironically the Machine that went into overdrive in 2020 after Sanders won both Iowa and New Hampshire to annoint Biden 1.0 and run his campaign via a basement and through whatever means necessary is the same Machine that is trying to oust him now. I want him to stay in to show them that the Presidency is not some plaything for them political hacks to have as a figurehead as they, behind the scenes, try to run this country against the will of the people or against the agencies’ intented purposes.
Also, choices need consequences and we’ve lost sight of that via the Fed backstopping all financial loss creating bubble after bubble, the suspension of debt ceiling that allows all manners of fiscal ill, the supporting of specific countries or groups in numerous conflicts, the intentional opening of borders…… They need to face the consequence of not having an actual primary/caucus; they can’t be rewarded for playing King(Queen)maker as if they are the deciders and the people serve them.
