In a humiliating outcome, “None of These Candidates” received more votes than Nikki Haley. Contrary to numerous reports Haley “won” by state law. Trump was not on the Republican primary ballot in Nevada.
NBC News projects ‘None of These Candidates‘ as the receiving the most votes in the Nevada GOP Primary. Trump wasn’t on the ballot, since he’s participating in Thursday’s caucus, instead.
Nevada voters in the state-run primary had a choice to reject all the candidates on the ballot, and they did just that — with more people choosing to vote for “none of these candidates” than for Haley.
Former President Donald Trump, far and away the front-runner for the Republican nomination, wasn’t on the same ballot as Haley because he is set to compete in party-run caucuses Thursday.
Even if Haley had won the primary, it wouldn’t have put her any closer to the GOP nomination, because she wouldn’t have received any delegates. The state Republican Party decided that only candidates who take part in the caucuses can win delegates.
By state law, Haley won.
This is more than a bit confusing and more than a bit ridiculous.
It’s not often none of the above gets the most votes, but it has happened before according to Wikipedia.
None of These Candidates
If the “None of These Candidates” option receives the most votes in an election, then the actual candidate who receives the most votes still wins the election. This has most notably happened on two occasions: in the 1976 Republican primary for Nevada’s At-large congressional district, None of These Candidates received 16,097 votes, while Walden Earhart received 9,831 votes, followed by Dart Anthony with 8,097 votes. Even though he received fewer votes than “None of These Candidates”, Earhart won the Republican nomination. He lost to incumbent Democratic Representative Jim Santini in the general election. In the 2014 Democratic gubernatorial primary, “None of These Candidates” received 30% of the popular vote, a plurality. Robert Goodman, the runner-up with 25% of the vote, was the Democratic nominee by state law.
According to a report by then-Secretary of State Dean Heller, “None of These Candidates” has finished first on three other occasions: in a 1978 Republican congressional primary, a 1978 Republican Secretary of State primary and a 1986 Democratic Treasurer primary. It happened again in the 2014 Democratic gubernatorial primary. In the 2024 Republican presidential primary, “None of These Candidates” received a majority against the only remaining major candidate in that election, Nikki Haley.
The “None of These Candidates” option has possibly played a spoiler effect in close races, such as in the 1998 U.S. Senate election, in which Democratic incumbent Sen. Harry Reid defeated Republican challenger John Ensign by only 428 votes, while None of These Candidates drew 8,125 votes.
This Tweet and many like it are incorrect.
What Did Haley Win?
Although Haley “won” she did not win anything. Trump will get all of the primary delegates from the caucus.
The GOP established ahead of time that only the caucus mattered.

Mish i would think the none votes might as well be considered trump supporters. Assuming so whats the difference between haley and trump.
Imo they chose the caucus because who is gonna stand up and say they want haley in office when your neighbors are all for trump.
sounds like Brewster’s Millions
Fat, addled boomers want fat, addled representatives.
Full audit of None of The Above. Something is fishy.
Why would you have both a primary and caucuses? You only need one or the other to determine who gets their delegates to the convention.
“By state law, Haley won.”
A consolation prize with a parting gift of zero delegates.
Yes, Haley receives a certificate suitable for framing.
Hoot of the day ! The american people would vote for no candidate
over the ones being offered by the DNC and RNC . Shows you how out of touch DC establishment is, so sad endless wars, crisis created one after another by them to stay in power.
If Nikki Haley became president, WW3 would almost certainly be her first executive order.
I like the notion of “None of these candidates”. It should be on every primary ballot. And if no one wins, the Parties need to go back and give us better candidates. I’m tired of voted for the lesser of two evils.
With regards to neocon Nikki. A rudderless ship is better than one with her at the helm. A true swamp creature.
“None of these candidates”. should be on EVERY election ballot.
Perhaps I wouldn’t have gone 20 years (2000 to 2020) without voting if I’d had an option for “None of these candidates”. I wish they’d also add the option of “The office should remain unfilled”, I’d vote for that every time out, no matter which office. “None of these candidates” obviously wins almost every election as turnout can be pathetic. Here in KY, we had under 40% turnout in the governor’s election last fall. That means over 60% effectively said, “None of these candidates”.
It’s too bad it’s only symbolic, I think there should be consequences. Like perhaps the candidates who lost to “None of these candidates” should be stricken from the ballot and the election rerun or something.
60% not voting doesn’t mean ‘none of these candidates’
It could just as easily be that they didn’t vote because they don’t care who gets in because it doesn’t make (or they don’t believe) any difference to them.
In a democracy “None of these candidates” SHOULD be a choice. Furthermore, if “None of these candidates” receives the most votes, then a new election should be held with completely new candidates. It does society no good having someone elected because they were the better of two bad choices.
“if “None of these candidates” receives the most votes, then a new election should be held with completely new candidates.”
In four years. In the meantime, just shut the manure show down completely.
It would have been interesting to see the votes for “none of these candidates” had Trump been on the ballot.
Many will pinch thier noses and vote for Trump this fall only because the alternative is so much worse.
Sad state we are in.
None Of The Above indeed. Or better as someone said, Leave This Office Vacant. How about, Remove This Federal Agency?
Just saw ZH article on Trump and Bud. Did Jared and Don Jr visit north side of Chicago to help them make that Super Bowl ad? I’d vote for Pat Buchanan – or his corpse – first. Hope Dumbya Bush has plenty of pretzels on hand for watching the big game. FJB, no joke. The Whole World Is Laughing.
Kudos to the people of Nevada for having this option, even if it is only symbolic. It puts “winners” into a more proper perspective.
A famous old tune applies to lots of events these days!

In a humiliating outcome, “None of These Candidates” received more votes than Nikki Haley.
In a more humiliating outcome, as a result of being the candidate with the “Least Votes” Haley is awarded the winner!
Talk about a booby prize! You actually “Suck The Most” so the RINO Party welcomes you into their loser club and pin a tail on the donkey… Yeah!
This is more than a bit confusing and more than a bit ridiculous. Gee, you think?
Haley won, but will get 0 delegates. So what did she win?
Oh, She won plenty!
1. A Loser (She literally won a participation trophy, for running for office).
2. A massive wake up call, that only RINO’s would obviously vote for her.
3. Acknowledgment that she cannot beat Anybody, including Nobody.
4. She now has further proof that she sucks.
5. You are the droid there looking for, just not the President the people are.
I could list another 100 in 15 minutes or so, but why bother. She is a useless idiot, talking head, regurgitating talking point, shill.
Go Trump 2024!
Nicki Haley continues to humiliate herself. I’m not sure what the political benefits are for her to continue, but maybe she was promised a cushy non-job at a Private equity firm or Hedgefund if she persisted just to harm Trump’s chances even if by a miniscule amount.
Nikki Haley is staying in the race to see if Trump is disqualified or deceased by the time of the convention. She will have some delegates, if only a few. That scenario seems far fetched now , but strange things do happen.
Fair point, but is that chance worth sacrificing your political future for? It seems Trump’s legal troubles are unlikely to be settled before the republican convention, especially since it would be very beneficial to democrats to have Trump convicted afterwards, so she would be effectively staking her political future on the prospect of tail event occurring.
And you want Republicans to run the government?
I say: send ’em to Yemen with a .303 and a bayonet!
Sure thing…let’s just continue to murder more children and poor civilians in a middle eastern country far away on the other side of the world.
Bibi Satanyahu will be so grateful.
While Nikki served as a token twofer darkie woman on the Boeing board of directors her leadership made 737 Max what it is today, a grounded DEI showpiece.
I won the election!
Congratulations!
Hilarious!!!
‘None Of The Above’ is a super popular candidate and really should be on every voter’s ballot everywhere.
Vote for Nobody.
Nobody tells the truth.
I’m nobody.
Nobody’s perfect.
A friend of mine used to have that on the front and back of a T-shirt he wore and it always amused me to no end when people would inevitably read both sides and figure out the joke.
