Outside of taco, there can’t be a slimmier politican than paxton.
At some point, the stench becomes so bad that even the weak spined have make a change.
The COVID-19 death rate per one million unvaccinated people was ~133 dead people per million unvaccinated people. The COVID death rate per one million vaccinated people was ~19 dead people per million vaccinated people?
And the vaccinated people were on average older and more likely to die from COVID19.
The only people who died of COVID that I actually knew were people I knew when I as a kid in the 1950s and 1960s. They died in a nursing home in the little town in South Dakota where I grew up. 1/3 of the nursing home’s residents died before the vaccine was available, and I knew almost all of them from my childhood. I remember the town’s doctor as a high school basketball player. His parents died of COVID. I knew them as 30ish adults. With an abject idiot for a governor, that little town became similar to one of my Dad’s frontline aid stations on Iwo Jima.
Republicans will do anything for Israel
If only it were solely the Republicans…
Meanwhile, coming as precisely zero surprise to anyone, Bill Cassidy folded and will support Blanche’s nomination “despite reservations”.
Dude – own it. Your vote “despite reservations” counts exactly the same as every other vote.

“Why do Republicans love sex criminals so much?”
Is it not common knowledge that Jeffrey Epstein built the modern “Republican party” almost singlehandedly? Gee, I wonder why they all love little girls.
I dunno, Bill Clinton was an Epstien Bud – was he a republican? Bill Richardson? Alan Dershowitz?
That’s not making excuses for Team R, BTW.
Most likely the Epstein class has nothing to do with D/R but everything to do with power and money. Many wealthy men in many countries think they can do as they please and pursue sick pleasures normal people know are wrong.
That’s an issue, one solution would be prosecution and if guilty exile to an island like the French devils island.
“Most likely the Epstein class has nothing to do with D/R but everything to do with power and money.”
Of course. Sociopaths care for ideology only to the extent that it can be weaponized.
I still think its an open question as to whether Trump might declare a national emergency and cancel elections. Then the real chaos begins.
His followers may attack the Capitol again.
Cancelling elections would not help Trump.
It would just give him a new set of problems.
Kicking the can down the road worked. Making war on Iran got the nation to stop talking about Epstein and his Trumpy BFF.
Cancelling elections to get people to stop talking about Iran. Then get a puppy or something to get people to stop talking about elections.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
As I said before, this is the beginning of the end of the over 30 year GOP reign in Texas. It took a pederast boy rapist to snap the Texans out of their stupor.
We’ll see. Lots of Christians in Texas.
Christians abhor homosexuality and child rape. Unless you mean the Christian Zionists who love NAMBLA, but those are not Christian by any measure.
If Todd Blanche is confirmed, Republicans deserve to be ousted en masse.
He will be. Bill Cassidy folded, to the surprise of precisely nobody.
US exonomy is toast. The point now will be to get rid of more immigrants. TPTB was never about success for the masses. It is about reassumming control of the system and making the US a white version of a banana republic.
At some point you gotta be tired of having criminals and pedos in your little club.
But what if that is the entire point of the club?
I I think the racism stands on its own. They don’t really need all the other things.
I wonder why??
Trumptastic US loses 23K jobs in July
“Socialist” Canada gains 75K jobs (while having a tenth of the US population)
So much winning in the hottest economy in the world
I was shocked at how many people were traveling between the US and Canada over rhe weekend. The immigration line for US citizens to come into the US was nonexistent in Montreal. Meanwhile the non US citizen line was packed. A bit confounding.
Americans Are Turning on TrumpThe president’s big gains with Black, Hispanic, and young voters in 2024 suggested a major shift. Less than two years later, he has lost those new supporters.
Americans Are Turning on Trump – The Atlantic
Imo trump was able to glean those two percentage points from groups he normally would not carry. I think if you dig down deep enough you will find very targeted media by musk.
Over the years the tech podcast i follow have had many discussions about placing guard rails on social media and such. Republicans have never supported it. I always thought it was because of contributions and not the free speech argument. In reality its probably they realize the potential for spreading their “ message”.
Well we will need to look into those avenues for putting that whole apparatus on such rails because this “flooding the zone” stuff must end.
Not surprising – the Biden economy sucked for everyone not part of The Epstein Class. So they tired of Tweedledee and voted for Tweedledum.
Of course, those poor scrotes found out that Trump is at least as bad.
How about “No-Partisan.” I am for NO ONE with a title, “Politician.” We need politicians OUT of politics. We need those critters out- – Criminals who THINK of self-serving “FIRST” and then ignore all of the REAL problems – – that they ignore as a job requirement.
If you are running for office you are a politician.
meanwhile: U.S. economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, a sudden reversal in what had been an otherwise solid labor market

Only the beginning of AI bleed. Productivity is gonna go up while unemployment goes up.
People need to stop being so tribal. Both parties are corrupt, malevolent and incompetent. We have the best government money can buy. These people should be put on trial for treason. Until we put an end to corrupt crony capitalism we will continue to circle the drain. They need to eliminate all campaign donations and have the govt fund campaigns equally and increase the term but only allow one term. That way these idiots are legislating to get reelected instead of what’s right for the country. Maybe we can replace everyone in Washington with AI. This will continue however until the TSHTF whenever and however that happens. All part of the fourth turning.
“They need to eliminate all campaign donations and have the govt fund campaigns equally and increase the term but only allow one term.”T
The “they” is us. This is doable by simply seeing how much corporate money is going to people and how long they’ve been in office and voting against them. “They” are the one’s who benefit by “us” not doing our jobs. They’re not going to change anything on their own.
Constitutional Convention. Get it on a referendum in your state. They used to be more in vogue decades ago. They were used to help flip the script on the robber barons early last century.
Bad idea. Do you think the 1st, 4th and 5th amendments would make it to a new constitution?
I think it can be done with legislation bypassing a convention
Who the hell in the Uniparty is going to change ANYTHING that wouldn’t benefit them???
You don’t need to change the whole Constitution. It’s called a living document because it can be added to. Parts of it can be updated, like election laws and term limits. Change the amendments we can agree on and leave the others alone. There are several standing issues which states have signed onto but don’t have a quorum of states to call a convention. There was a time when conventions were called more regularly. It has been well past time to call one, about 40 years too long. The Constitution was actually designed this way but there’s not enough push forward.
<< They need to eliminate all campaign donations and have the govt fund campaigns equally>>
On the one hand you guys accuse modern Greece of corruption (the first EU country that officially tried “democratic socialism” in 1981-1992), on the other hand you want to follow the recipes that made them corrupt, down to the letter. This public party funding is exactly the reason Greece has dozens of faux political parties (which sell their voters to the larger ones). The funding amounts kept growing over time, to the point that working for some unknown political office doing nothing, is considered a legitimate job option in the country. Among many others that voter-fishing public funding of this and that created.
“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.”
Once corruption gets out of hand, people finally start seeing through the lies.
perhaps in the near future, amerikans will obtain a more mature attitude on laws and government. and start acting like italians and argentines. ignore the laws and taxes one disagrees with. maybe the next generations. the millenials and boomers are too brain washed, and great little petting zoo sheep.
You left out the Gen-Xers. We boomers gave up long ago…those of us who sniffed out this shit 40 years ago when still in our 20’s and 30’s. I sick to SHIT with politics.
GenX here. This started coming to me in my late 20’s. One classmate wrote a short page of how EVERYTHING in the U.S. was rigged. Had some hope then but fast forward to these days….This country is nothing but one big criminal cabal.
Eric, then DOING something about it is still missing. There are too many people who think that our “Constitutional Republic” is “representative.” NOPE.
But what if the people are already fools???
Hopefully Trump will be removed – either 25th or impeached and convicted.
Death comes to us all
From your lips to God’s ear
All of the above, I pray. 🙏🏻
He may simply quit..
I think the only way he would resign is with an iron clad guarantee that him, his family and everyone in his administration were given pardons for anything crimes EVER occurred, or if he could do this before resigning.
More fallout from Trumpism, as America ramps up to put him out to pasture
Can’t come too soon
If you smoke enough weed this political division is starting to look like an evolutionary division.
The Democrats tend to promote social concepts. Ideas where everybody is included and we are all here to support each other to some degree. It’s never absolute. This is similar to the social behavior of herd animals. Defense in numbers, protect the young, sick, old. This behavior allows for very large populations.
The Republicans tend to promote individual concepts. Everybody is here on the road and may the best man win. This is similar to the social behavior of the predators. They work alone. Sometimes in cooperative packs but small numbers only. Defense only for themselves and their kin. This behavior does not allow for large populations nor does it require cooperation in depth.
The global population density has increased dramatically in 50 years and that is forcing a shift in how society functions. Most countries of high density populations have all been moving, on their own accord, to a more socialized, not individualized, set of social rules. The happiest countries less the list.
Radically individual people can’t function in modern structures without isolating themselves from that socialization. If they were merely introverts they wouldn’t be so offended by other people’s behaviors, they would just want to be left alone to participate at their own speed. These are people who can’t adjust to a different, evolving, social structure.
This evolution has been going on for hundreds of years but the internet is an accelerant of ideas. Society is evolving away from individualism to a communal mode of operation because it allows people to better coexist, allowing for a greater and more stable population.
It’s just an idea.
i started studying anthropology in 1978. i haven’t stopped. it answers most questions regarding human evolution and existence. talking apes.
Individualism vs Collectivism you say? If only that had been a widely studied concept for the last many decades. That seems to have always been the main dividing line between liberal and conservative thinkers all along, has it not?
The problem is that there is a wide gulf between those two positions, which allows unsavory folks to exploit people once in power.
I view it as left=hope-based & right=fear-based – too extreme either way becomes problematic.
Well given the number of sex predators who seem to be rank and file in the GOP, I think the predator comparison is pretty fair.
Uniparty, baby!
Avoid movements you dont start locally among neighbors.
Tea Party sounded great initially. Sounded like OWS. Then the R’s swallowed it.
MAGA sounded great initially, not when Trump said it but because of the things MAGA supporters said it should mean. Then Trump ignored it.
Organizations that field the likes of Kamala, Biden, Trump, Hillary — they’re unfixable. And all national 3rd parties end up sabotaged. Reject national parties and work locally.
Even Ross Perot, whom I conclude was genuine, was sabotaged.
I dont believe Ross’s story about GOP threatening his daughter’s wedding. I bet they threatened something else but that was all Ross could say.
You all must lead. Stop following.
You make an excellent case to remodel our political system into a multiple party system similar to what we see in European parliaments where coalitions must be built.
Yes, it has its own problems just ask any European about the chaos of trying to establish a consortium. And my response is to look at us. We can’t even get dressed in the morning because our shoes on the left are sandals and our shoes on the right are leather wingtip dress shoes.
Yes, I would’ve hoped the European model would work better, with the lower levels nominating people to the higher levels instead of direct elections based on attack ads and memes. But it seems terribly broken too.
A common influence is the control by monied interests — oligarchs (domestic and foreign).
Any first-past-the-post winner takes all electoral system will eventually become a two party system.
pro tip. human primates have been wired for millions of years of evolution to follow the silverbacks.
Well, yes, that is a pro tip. But, if we accept that bit of practicality, then we should all give up and grovel to the corrupt for our own self enrichment. (I doubt you endorse that. You’re just saying that’s how it is. Understood.)
Talking to yourself?
Ha. The other day, someone else here posted an excellent Carlin quote about that…
We’ve also been wired to kill the silver-back when he gets old and weak and become the silver-back ourselves.
This is why cats are superior beings. We are famously resistant to being herded.
if you live among local smart people, yes. if one lives among morons, than no.
Well……even then, would we do any worse? I’d rather have “dumb people who might be corruptible” than “people nominated by corrupt gatekeepers”. At least there’s a chance dumb people might smarten up — maybe they were simply uninformed — whereas I dont expect selfish people to ever change.
Men used to talk politics over a pint at the local watering hole. Now they just drink pints watching sports. They’ve even added betting for more “fun”. Women watch reality tv shows. Escapism is more fun than dealing with the real real.
Is it any wonder that the laziest politically active people elected the laziest prez???
As did the Tea Party. It had a nice ring to it at first, but all that it got us was Ted Cruz in the end.
The tea party sounded horrible initially, and then just got worse.
I think the uniparty is the middle that is where the solutions are. Some a bit to the right others a bit to the left. . I like to see politicians vote the issue or problem and not so much the party. To bad its one side against the other mentality. Guess thats how those with the money control things.
Are people getting a conscience?
I’ve never seen such bad optics for the Republicans in my life. Corruption, cruelty, crime.
It’s really weird when you look at how many Republicans have problems with human sexuality. Lost track of how many are charged with rape, trafficking, pedophelia. Grindr is funny how it crashes at GOP gatherings while the GOP attacks homosexuality. The attack on women is unmatched outside of the Taliban.
For generations the ultra-rich on the right have funded preachers to move their flock to the right on economic and religious issues. The purpose being to create a loyal Republican base who would put the oligarchs first. Unfortunately, right-wing religion is all based around sexual urges, the suppression of which inevitably leads to less wholesome actions.
You mean how many Republicans have problems with homosexuality, like the Pederast Paxton?
All clubbers of the Epstein Club.
<<I’ve never seen such bad optics for the Republicans in my life.>>
Neither had we seen so bad optics for the Democrats about 2 years ago. It’s a violently swinging pendulum, fueled by both real and fake grievances.
I really wish the US political system went back to the looser of the Presidential election being offered the VP slot.
Looking from this side of the pond. I wish more people were in the centre and choose the best candidate rather than their own parties candidate. I think we would be better served if that was the case.
Unfortunately I think political polarization is here to stay. And the extremes create a closed feedback loop where one side legitimizes the existence of the other.
That would change nothing.
Although you didn’t mention it, term limits would change nothing either. The oligarchs can find a fresh new face (e.g. Obama) every day if they need to. Every new class of HR critters is almost completely another class of psychopaths.
But it is good to brainstorm. At least you are thinking about it!
Brainstorming: how about getting rid of elections altogether? Create a set of meaningful qualifications for office. Everyone who shares those qualifications can voluntarily throw their chip in the pot. Some trusted person (or machine) pulls out 3 chips for each person and those 3 folks represent the district for one term only.
IIRC there’s a name for that: Sortitionism”. …i wonder why they didn’t just call it “lottery”…but anyway…
yes I strongly suspect that would work substantially better. Not perfect. Maybe not the best. But much better.
Sortitionism would be interesting also, but the practical upshot would be the strengthening of the administrative bureaucracy, since they would have all the institutional capital and knowledge.
Yeah. Jon suggested “one term”. But the first 2-4 years, the person probably will accept bureaucracy lies too easily. So, yeah, the one term should be longer, like 6-8. If it is 8 years, there’s enough time for the senior parliamentarians to teach the new class what not to believe, in addition to doing their own jobs better.
I think it’s the opposite. When first elected they might do what they consider “right” by their standards but as time goes on they become more jaded and “right” is no longer in the picture.
I often thought it would be fun to have two votes, one to elect them the second when their term is up with results being free to go or punishment, prison….or worse.
Interesting thought, except that the party losing the presidential election would be even more aggressive in trying to undermine or remove the winner, since the replacement would be their candidate.
“It was supposed to affect other people, not me” –Typical MAGA voter.
If he had married her, she would have gotten permanent residence the next day. But he didn’t marry her.
Yikes, so many bad takes in this post i don’t know where to start.
Maybe start by explaining that Ken Paxton is not corrupt at all?
And a pederast, boy rapist. A true dean of the Epstein Class.
Good call. Wait until JoJo posts.
One upvote? I thought this is a good inside joke for people on this board! “Tough crowd.” 😉
Always easier to point out problems than find a solution. You could do it, if you tried.
Agree it’s always easier but am unsure about the second statement, especially regarding political solutions if “doable” is a criterion! 🙂
The old (largely contrived, staged) paradigm of blue versus red is falling apart in real time as more and more people are waking up to the sobering reality that it’s now the everyday man versus the elites and their overseas overlords…who have somehow come to exist above the Oval Office and Capitol Hill. Oh, and the tech oligarchs, can’t leave them out of the picture.
^^^Exactly^^^
Unfortunately “some folks” are still hopelessly lost in the false Blue vs Red dichotomy as this latest post clearly shows.
Then again, this is exactly the kind of analysis i would expect from someone that promoted the Covid shot and was fooled by the whole Covid scam.
Anyone that studies the data even for a minute can see that “the covid shot” had a great effect on saving people’s lives, especially those of 60 years and older. Even if it didn’t do everything that the most ardent pusher of them promised to do, there is no credible way to say that those vaccines were, on the whole, harmful. But I’m sure you can find anecdotal evidence that someone had a bad experience with them. It would be quite weird if that didn’t happen among hundreds of millions of people that took them.
You know you are just humming to dancing/drooling maniacs, right?
I know, but I cannot resist anyway. We can all disagree on many things, and certainly on the political choices made around covid. They were too often presented as “dictated by science” while of course science can tell what’s going on, but not what the right thing is to do when you have to trade off values against each other. That’s what politics is for.
But the data is the data, and it is very hard to twist it so that you might think the vaccines where not, on the whole, very effective at preventing deaths and serious illness. You can still make the political case that despite them preventing many deaths we should stop them all, I guess to save costs? Or because they are not in the Bible? Because you like to tell other people how to live their lives? But lets hear that political case then.
There are lots of people who still think the earth is flat. Actual data and logic means nothing to most people. They’re controlled by manufactured narratives and there is nothing that can be done about that in this country. Youtube is the enemy of the people.
Surely it’s possible to compare death rates in countries with/without access to covid vaccines too see what a difference they made? Anyone done this? Not that it would persuade the ‘true believers’.
I’m not sure how easy that would be as I don’t think there were any countries without vaccines. Although Russia and China used their own vaccines instead of western but I wouldn’t trust their data on it. However, you could compare western countries and match vaccine rates vs excess mortality. But even then you’d need to correct for age and I guess obesity rate which is a lot higher in the US then in most other western countries.
You do not need to know any of those things. The data shows quite plainly that corrupt conservative governments in some of the Western states lied about cause of death.
Every single county had access to the vaccines.
Our forefathers, not quite as stupid as our current fathers, used extremely draconian public health measures. Because they worked.
Yes, the data is rock solid. Over 667 million injections given to around 335 million Americans. What would the USA look like if any of these liars are saying were true? Graveyards brim full of turbo cancer victims? They do not exist. None of the harms they claim the vaccine did exist outside the confines of very rare. 40 million people getting boosted each year. There is no data at all suggesting it anything other than it is still saving lives.
26 people were killed at Sandy Hook….and nutters like Alex Jones have rightly had to pay the price for peddling nonsense.
At least 1.25M Americans died due to Covid…..and yet it seems socially acceptable in the US to say it is a conspiracy. Let alone the shameful nonsense being done to Faucci.
Perhaps you should find somebody who lost a father due to Covid and explain to them why it was a scam.
People thought Hillary was slinging pizza from an underground parlor with literal human children topping the pizza. Pardon me, but believing COVID was a conspiracy seems utterly plausible if not predictable given other shit the right believes. Remember Jade Helm 15 and Obama’s “Gay Chemtrails?”
34% of US adults are at or below Level 1, versus an OECD average of 25%….in the OECD adaptive problem solving test – which mirrors critical thinking.
Inother words the US is not doing a great job of educating the lower parts of society. Not exactly a revelation!
us education system based on german pattern. It was designed to turn out soldiers and homemakers. neither required critical thinking skills
Gosh you nuthouse occupants and the Fauci worship, and demonizing alternative medical thinking. Just this morning I interviewed a local nurse in the biggest hospital system of our area about what was going on with Covid treatments. This is in connection with the revisiting of Fauci time, etc.
This nurse intubated the first covid patient we had in southern Oregon. 38+ years ICU experience. In the early parts of the spread a doctor came to the group saying “Hey we’re hearing about Covid patients getting helped with Ivermectin”. The nurse said “Let’s try it, we need to think outside the box”, and they did with a number of patients in the ICU. All recovered and were out of ICU the next morning.
They did it a few more times with other patients but shortly thereafter came the protocols crushing any and all alternatives. Then the Oregon Pharmacy Board stopped the filling of Ivermectin for use in Covid. What was really needed by the system was NO ALTERNATIVE TO THE JAB for the emergency authorization. These were Fauci’s and NIH protocols. But I guess were supposed to believe the medical industrial complex rather than the lying eyes of people who actually treated patients successfully and inexpensively.
The nerve of anyone expressing sympathy for that little MD toad or the slavish devotion to what he created. The real crime is that it’s only Fauci being set up as the politically expedient fall guy with all the other criminals getting away with it. If you’re going to bleat about 1.25 million Americans dying of Covid, at least be honest about the fact that “Your Government and Government Doctors were Wrong”..Also “Your Pharmaceutical Companies don’t want REAL cures”.
Did they do an actual study of the percentage of patients who took Ivermectin vs “the jab” to see which percentage of patients recovered the fastest? What were the numbers? Or are you just repeating something a person said?
All the information about Ivermectin was/has been buried distorted or written off. But there were boatloads of real doctors from around the globe claiming it worked and that should be good enough because Ivermectin has no patent, so they all had ZERO reason to lie. Contrast that with big pharma and the government stooges who had BILLIONS of reasons to lie.
Thank you so much. I can’t believe there are still so many pinheads out there who refuse to acknowledge the truth…truth that is no longer a “conspiracy theory”, it’s fact and always was.
Yet here you are reading Mish’s articles still, seems you insult him then insult your own intelligence by sticking around. Why not pursue your ceiling instead of your simple moving average?
Just had to bust out the kookery, dint ya?
99.76% recovery rate without the vaccine. Btw ivermectin + an antibiotic + zinc was very effective…..
Toot toot! Kook alert!
Certified 98.89% kooky by the Department of Kookery.
We got a live one.
Look you calling me a kook when you need to pull your head out of the liberal toilet bowl and stop feeding on the brown stuff.
I got Covid three days nothing but a sniffle and now I have natural immunity. That’s how it works genius.
So ivermectin is a hoax… not even needed!
The other kooks need to hear this!
I agree. People didn’t get the memo: A 99.76% recovery rate from Covid without the vaccine (unless you were a chain smoker or had an illness). Once you get over it, you build natural immunity. Children were immune to Covid for some reason but got an untested and potentially dangerous shot twice in some cases. Future health results down the road pending.
Good luck breaking out of that.
The only way is via constitutional amendments (get rid of citizens united, gerrymandering, insider trading, pardons etc.).
…but that is not going to happen without some really serious trigger point.
