Are Biden’s Red Lines to Netanyahu Really Yellow or Green?

Today, president Biden warned Netanyahu an assault on Rafah would cross a ‘Red Line’. O.K . What happens if the line is crossed?

Biden Warns Netanyahu

More than a million Palestinians have taken refuge in Rafah. Civilian casualties are sure to be very high if Israel goes in.

Biden set a red line, but Netanyahu says he will attack anyway. This is where alleged red lines aren’t exactly red.

The Wall Street Journal reports Biden Warns Netanyahu an Assault on Rafah Would Cross ‘Red Line’

It is a red line, but I am never going to leave Israel. The defense of Israel is still critical. So there is no red line I am going to cut off all weapons, so they don’t have the Iron Dome to protect them,” Biden told MSNBC, referring to the antimissile interceptors. “But there’s red lines that if he crosses…. You cannot have 30,000 more Palestinians dead.” [Or what?]

“Finishing the war without demilitarizing Rafah is like sending in firefighters to put out 80% of a fire,” Gantz [ Israeli war cabinet member Benny Gantz] told U.S. officials, according to an Israeli official familiar with his meetings.

Biden understands he needs to make a difference, not a point,” said Aaron David Miller, a former U.S. Middle East peace negotiator and a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Speaking to lawmakers in the House chamber after the speech, Biden was overheard saying that he would have even tougher words for Netanyahu in private.

“I told him, Bibi, and don’t repeat this, but you and I are going to have a ‘come to Jesus’ meeting,” Biden confided to Sen. Michael Bennet, a Colorado Democrat, before an aide cautioned the president that his words were being broadcast on an open microphone. [Was that on purpose or a typical Biden gaffe?]

The State Department is looking at whether it could invoke a rarely used provision of the Foreign Assistance Act that requires a cutoff of financial and military support for any country that restricts delivery of humanitarian aid, officials said. Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D., Md.) is among the lawmakers calling on the Biden administration to use the provision to curtail aid to Israel. [If Biden wanted to do this, he wouldn’t be looking at it, he would be doing it.]

“Anybody with eyes and ears and a brain can see that the Netanyahu government is restricting the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza,” said Van Hollen.

Does Biden Have a Line?

If so, is it red, pink, yellow or green?

I am leaning towards yellow or green. Regardless, in his attempt to please everyone, I rather doubt Biden is pleasing anyone.

Note that Biden continues to press for aid to Israel with no strings attached. If that’s not yellow or green, what is it?

Hoot of the Day on Leverage

Ali Vaez, a senior adviser at the International Crisis Group, said that Biden’s efforts to change Israel’s calculations have had minimal success so far and that U.S. influence might remain limited unless Biden is prepared to take much tougher steps.

The U.S. has tremendous leverage, but very little influence,” he said.

Is it possible to have tremendous leverage but no influence?

The only way I can rationalize such an Orwellian statement is to have red lines that are really green.

What’s Next?

That’s pretty easy. Netanyahu will hold off an assault on Rafah until Congress delivers aid with no strings attached.

Then Biden will howl about red lines while Netanyahu smiles. If Congress does not deliver the aid, Netanyahu will blame Biden.

“It’s Only Temporary and Won’t Require US Boots in Gaza”

Biden announced the US will build a temporary ship docking pier in Gaza that will not require boots on the ground.

For discussion please see “It’s Only Temporary and Won’t Require US Boots in Gaza”

Biden directed the military to carry out the emergency project, aiming to ease food shortages and lack of shelter and medical services for Gaza’s 2.2 million residents, according to U.S. officials who briefed reporters ahead of Biden’s speech Thursday evening.

The forces that will be required to complete this mission are either already in the region or will begin to move there soon, they said. The mission, which is expected to last only temporarily, won’t require U.S. boots on the ground in Gaza, officials said.

Q&A on the Pier and Biden’s Lines

Q:Can you build a pier with no one on the ground?
A: We are about to find out.

Q: Wat happens if the pier comes under fire?
A: We are about to find that out as well.

Q: Has Biden defined temporary? Stated the costs? Have an endgame?
A: No, No, No

Q: Is the US ignoring new illegal Israeli settlements on the West Bank?
A: Yes

Q: Can you cross a red line with no consequences?
A: Only if it’s really green?

Q: What color are Biden’s red lines?
A: I leave that to the reader and history to decide.

Netanyahu claims support from some Arab leaders in his attack on Hamas. First I have heard this stated!
——-
Netanyahu vows to defy Biden’s ‘red line’ and invade Rafah
Israel PM insists his priority is to prevent another terror attack like the Oct. 7 Hamas raid.
March 10, 2024 7:30 pm CET
By Paul Ronzheimer and Carlo Martuscelli

TEL AVIV — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he intends to press ahead with an invasion of the city of Rafah on the southern border of the Gaza Strip in defiance of U.S. President Joe Biden, who has warned such an offensive would be a “red line.”

Amid signs of increasing frustration with Netanyahu, the U.S. president told MSNBC on Saturday that he opposed an escalation of the conflict into Rafah, and that he could not accept “30,000 more Palestinians dead.”

Relief organizations have warned that an attack on Rafah on the border with Egypt — and now a refuge for about half of Gaza’s 2.3 million population — would result in widespread civilian casualties. Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said it would be “a humanitarian catastrophe.”

When asked on Sunday whether Israeli forces would move into Rafah, Netanyahu replied: “We’ll go there. We’re not going to leave. You know, I have a red line. You know what the red line is, that October 7 doesn’t happen again. Never happens again.” The PM was referring to the murderous Hamas raid that killed more than 1,160 people in Israel and triggered the war.

Without naming them, Netanyahu claimed he had the tacit support of several Arab leaders for driving ahead with the onslaught against Hamas.

“They understand that, and even agree with it quietly,” he said in an interview with Axel Springer, POLITICO’s parent company. “They understand Hamas is part of the Iranian terror axis.”

Trump on Israel’s Gaza Slaughter: ‘You’ve Got to Finish the Problem’
He didn’t elaborate on his position and focused on claiming the October 7 attack wouldn’t have happened if he was still president
by Dave DeCamp
March 6, 2024

Former President Trump, the likely GOP candidate for the 2024 presidential election, said he supported Israel’s brutal military operations in Gaza in an interview with “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday.

Trump agreed when a host described him as being “firmly in Israel’s camp.” He was then asked if he was “on board” with the way the Israeli military was carrying out its campaign.

“You’ve got to finish the problem. You had a horrible invasion that took place, that would have never happened if I was president, by the way,” Trump replied.

So apparently, Biden’s use of this idiom was meant to imply that Biden sees the full and total picture and that Netanyahu doesn’t and so needs to learn that from him. Just more Biden arrogance and wannabe tough guy talk.

“come-to-Jesus moment”

An epiphany in which one realizes the truth of a matter; a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something; coming clean and admitting failures; realizing the true weight or impact of a negative situation or fact; acknowledgment that one must get back to core values; moment of realization; an aha moment; moment of decision; moment of truth; critical moment; moment of reassessment of priorities; turning point; life-changing moment.

Netanyahu pulled a Weimar Hitler move by reinstalling himself as PM despite losing his election.

Since then he has masterfully aroused fear and anger over Hamas (as Hitler did over a Communist burning the Reichstag), fully knowing Biden’s election is upon us, I don’t think the Hamas attack slipping past Israeli intelligence was a coincidence.

The Mossad is far too good at what they do to buy this got past them.

I despise Hamas, I also despise Netanyahu, but the Palestinian population is 45% children, those children don’t deserve this, and, they’ll now grow up hating Israel, hopefully not us.

Biden is handling this better than any president could, humanitarian drops to Palestinian civilians, openly stating he opposes bombing & murder of innocent’s while walking a diplomatic tightrope.

Biden’s trick, if Netanyahu doesn’t simmer down, is to convey a need to stop the slaughter of children without ostracizing pro-Israeli moderates here.

So you want to let Hamas go and return to their terrorism of Israel. To reward them for the cowardly but successful strategy of hiding behind their civilian population?

If so, then why not just state this, instead of beating around the bush, as Biden and so much of the MSM does.

Come out and say to terrorists everywhere that hiding behind civilians is a valid and intelligent strategy that will protect you against retribution.

Bibi got his Causus Belli. After two weeks of softening Jasa stronger layers he sent
4/5 divisions to peel then and finish them off. The IDF used a different Urban warfare to reduce Israel casualties. Bibi isn’t a Nazis. The IDF isn’t the Wermacht or the Gestapo
F-16 over the sea and Apache helicopters inside Israel are waiting for a brigade or platoon commander, or a Zik drone pilot to mark a target and destroy it. Special forces, or dogs did a colonoscopy to tunnels under: hospitals, schools, UNRA… before destroying : command centers, logistics, ammunition factories and dumps all underground. A D9 banged openings in suspicious houses and escavate the streets to prevent side bombs.
After peeling the first layers only two divisions operate in Jasa. The war was over two months ago. Hamas as an army was destroyed. It became a sporadic terrorist popping up out of the tunnels, before escaping. The Shin Bet talks to people who tell them that a certain house has an opening to a tunnel and apt #3A is Hamas depo. Bibi didn’t find little Hitler, hiding in the tunnels with a few hostages. The number of hostages is probably cut by half. He might not be looking for him yet, 8 months before the Nov election. Sinwar is waiting for Hezbollah and the west bank to ignite Oct 7 II during the ramadan, which started today. If failed, only useless idiots will fight for him and Qatar might expel Hanya

Biden’s red lines are as solid as Putin’s. Biden likes to talk tough but he is at heart, a wimp, just like Obama was. Biden will vacillate for months before he will grudgingly, finally, make a decision that should have been made months past.

As to his Jesus statement, does Biden now believe that he is Jesus? That Netanyahu should worship him and kiss his feet? Bend to what Biden wants?

Biden seems to feel that Israel is a vassal state or territory of the USA. I am happy that Netanyahu is disabusing him of this idea but Biden is too old and too slow to get the message, so he keeps yapping at Israel.

The trucks and the trucking route are controlled by Hamas. That is the one thing everyone agrees on so to keep Hamas from controlling the distribution of food and aid you must take it out of their hands. By doing so you take away their principal power over the population. All they have left would be guns which is a different problem.

The Zionists are not even allowing the trucks to get past the checkpoints. In fact, some of their so-called civilians have camped at the entrances to make sure that no food or supply truck enters Gaza.

Biden has to obey them because they are his masters. But he has to pretend to draw these “red” lines because of the Nov elections in US.

Not at all. Look at it this way. Given that Palestinians can only exist by the UNRWA handing out free food and supplies daily (they were getting 500 truckloads daily in Gaza prior to Oct.7th), they have no future. Their only hope for employment is for their option to be picked up by Hamas. But that will just turn them into terrorists that have to be killed.

So why not just kill them off now when they are children and avoid having to chase them down later?

Better for everyone!

Let us see if Hamas or one of the other terrorist groups operating in Gaza decide to shoot one of the Americans workers or soldiers working on this pontoon pier or plant an explosive on it that kills a bunch of people, purely to stick a pike through its heart and regardless as to what effect it might have on the common Palestinians.

Recall that some have proposed that the Oct 7th invasion was triggered because Israel and SA were getting to close to making an agreement.

Hamas is experienced in tossing wrenches into moving situations to create trouble.

Has Biden really thought this initiative through? I think not.

Israeli Defense Forces are the largest terror group operating in Gaza. IDF will be the first recognized perpetrators should there be an attack on US personnel or material.

The IDF performance so far is truly beyond pathetic. IDF has bombed and attacked hospitals, clinics, universities, schools, water works, police stations, together with hundreds of thousands of homes, slaughtering thousands of women and children.

Hamas now is established throughout the mid-east, impossible to ever ‘destroy.’ They only have to decide on a new name.

After IDF personnel dress-up in drag as female Gaza fighters and attack the aid pier project the only question will be whether that action was part of Biden’s plan all along.

Doug, yes, Hamas is pure evil, they raped, murdered, tortured & maimed several hundred innocents.

In response, Netanyahu is bombing & displacing a population of 5 million, 45% of which are children.

That’s akin to the Army carpet bombing a southern town after a KKK sect from that town attacks a black church because they’re hiding in the local’s basements.

The Chinese finger puzzle routine’s getting old, “either you’re with us or against us” doesn’t work here.

The “because they hide behind children..so screw it, let’s kill the children” routine doesn’t change what he’s done, pure savagery.

No, it wasn’t just Oct 7th. That was just the last straw.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad were regularly shooting missiles into Israel, which was the purpose of Iron Dome to stop these attacks. How would you like to live somewhere where at any time of the day or night, you had to drop what you are doing or get out of bed and run to a bomb shelter, perhaps gathering your kids, older parents, etc?

Israel and Hamas went at it back in 2021 but although Israel won that battle also, the rocket attacks did not stop.
