Lockdowns For Thee Not Me
The WSJ compiled a nice list of Democrat Covid Hypocrites caught red-handed violating their own lockdowns.
- After Gavin Newsom, governor of the nation’s most locked-down state, got caught dining indoors at the French Laundry, the nation’s most difficult-to-reserve restaurant, he apologized: “The spirit of what I’m preaching all the time was contradicted and I’ve got to own that, so I’m going to apologize to you, because I need to preach and practice.”
- San Francisco Mayor London Breed also got caught eating out at the French Laundry. She apologized: “It doesn’t matter whether something is technically allowed or not. I need to hold myself to a higher standard and I will do better.”
- San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo got caught violating Gov. Newsom’s ban on large Thanksgiving gatherings. He apologized: “I made a mistake, I own it, and I should have been more astute to the specifics of the regulations.”
- When Denver Mayor Michael Hancock got caught flying to Mississippi for Thanksgiving after telling people to stay home, he said: “As a public official, whose conduct is rightly scrutinized for the message it sends to others, I apologize to the residents of Denver who see my decision as conflicting with the guidance to stay at home for all but essential travel.“
- Austin Mayor Steve Adler recorded a video urging Texans to stay home—from his vacation at a resort in Mexico. He apologized, “I made a mistake, and I apologize to the community. I will work to re-earn your trust.”
- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, caught getting her hair done in locked-down San Francisco, snapped, “I take responsibility for falling for a set-up.”
- Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, caught going to Joe Biden’s victory party in Delaware, called it “essential travel.”
- New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, had to disinvite his own mother from Thanksgiving dinner. A spokesman claimed that he had to work through the holiday.
- Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot joined a crowd celebrating President-elect Joe Biden’s win on Nov. 7. She commented “There are times when we actually do need to have relief and come together, and I felt like that was one of those times.”
Point number 9 was from the USA Today not the WSJ.
Question #1
- Q1: What do these people all have in common?
- A1: They are all Democrats.
Question #2
Should any of these hypocrites still be in office?
Republicans would most likely say no, by an overwhelming majority if not a unanimous vote.
But think carefully about the reason. A pair of Tweets will show why.
Dear president, what about that balanced budget and reducing the debt?
If hypocrisy and lies were reasons to remove politicians, nearly all of the current slate in Congress would be out of a job.
I would add, and the president, but he will be gone soon enough anyway. But we can add a whole slew of past presidents can’t we?
Mish

America’s two-class system: the ruling class and the peasants once again on display.
C’mon guys this is not a surprise. These are politicians pretending to do stuff for us while they wallow in the money printed for them. They love telling us what to do, “they know best just listen to them” .
But, we keep voting these guys in year after year…..unbelievable.
The voting booth should reconfigure the ballot lever to a dildo and require the Helots to use their mouths to make the selection of their next master, it also provides a keen preview of things to come for the voter.
The question is not whether hypocritical politicians should be recalled or held accountable … nowhere to begin: the system is based on voter deception.
The real question is what to do with people voted in to enforce laws who break the laws they are themselves responsible to enforce. The answer seems obvious — they should be charged and prosecuted. What have the democrats been shouting for years?
Nobody is above the law.
Shocking. Politicians admitting wrongdoing, apologizing, and taking responsibility.
I much prefer that to the stonewalling, gaslighting, projection, ceaseless denials and rampant corruption.
And those platitudes placate too many people. The only reason this list exists is because each individual was caught and called out by someone. Not one of those politicians held a press conference to confess to going against their decree. There is no taking of responsibility and nothing noble in their scripted apology, just more empty words from a political figurehead. But hey, they’ll try to do better next time.
I’d prefer if they took real responsibility by resigning, stating that they are obviously a poor example and are not fit to serve in the position they hold. Words and promises to do better next time doesn’t help anybody.
I mean if you guys really want to go down the long list of GOP hypocrisy, we can do that.
The GOP:
Say they’re for the Constitution, tries to overturn the election when they don’t like the results.
Say they’re for small government and fiscal responsibility. Instead cut taxes and increases spending.
Say it’s not fair to fill a supreme court seat during an election year under Obama, fill an election seat one month away from an election under Trump.
I mean I can go on. I haven’t even really gotten into Trump’s countless myriad scandals.
What you are complaining about is so minor in comparison it’s almost laughable.
If you want to go down that road, you can do it without me. I was not commenting on the parties’ stated political affiliations, as Mish’s post covered that and the folly of waving one’s arms about D or R.
The issue of violating these types of unprecedented decrees is not minor, it is a very visible example of all persons not being held to the same “necessary” rules. If you tack on a phony <> being accepted by an unquestioning media and majority of the electorate, then you can rationalize any transgression away!
I agree with you.
I’m sure you would also agree that we should hold Trump accountable to the same necessary rules, for starters the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, among many others.
Without a doubt, my good sir. Plenty of war crimes charges should rightly be spread across various administrations too.
The reality tv personality made the transition to scripted political drama and it seems every episode has been written to maximize the outrage (either for or against, depending on the viewer’s political bent).
Make every elected official – Congress, Presidents, ex Presidents – live by the laws they passed.
Make Congress and President allowed ONLY Obamanation care. They can ONLY get healthcare thru ACA.
Make Congress and President allowed ONLY Social Security as retirement program.
Then….stand back and watch these laws change before you can blink an eye, and we are given the healthcare and retirement WE PAID FOR.
So today’s episode of Breaking Bad is where Walt, Jesse and Mike went outside the AT&T, I mean government, building with high-powered magnet to wipeout the data on Gus’ laptop.
We started planning Christmas this year with one thing in mind… violating every rule possible laid down by “Governor” Gretchen Whitmer and the MDHHS. Dinner yesterday till midnight for the kids and their wives and grandchildren… All 23 of them showed up and we had a great time. Merry Christmas everyone.
You don’t understand, Newsome’s magnificent hairdo actually kills corona virus. He was merely disinfecting an eating establishment to make it safe for The American People.
A little humor:
A Lexus Christmas
They’re Democrats, so it’s okay because neither CNN nor MSNBC nor NPR nor any of the left friendly outlets will say anything substantive about it. Bow to your masters, plebs – it only gets better from here.
The new astrology
By fetishising mathematical models, economists turned economics into a highly paid pseudoscience https://aeon.co/essays/how-economists-rode-maths-to-become-our-era-s-astrologers
In other words it’s all intellectual self-wank bullshit.
4 legs good, 2 legs better!
The governor of Illinois looks like a blue ribbon winner at the Stockyards show at The Amphitheater.
It’s okay, as long as they don’t display a bellicose personality. Because, then we’d really know who the bad guy was.
All helpers, service providers and servants now carry telephones that take pictures and record videos so you cannot hide or deny that something happened anymore so they should modify their behaviour accordingly but they don’t. Either they are not very intelligent (highly possible) or they don’t care and feel that it will blow over because they have a friendly press and a captive electorate (equally likely). Which one is it?
A nice big picture wrap-up:
Your Trauma and Mine: A Retrospective on 2020
Jeffrey A. Tucker
– December 25, 2020
It’s funny that in the midst of a horrible pandemic year with so much personal and business carnage across the world, what is MSNBC TV running on Christmas day? The Dateline program which is cheerily all about murders and murder mysteries! How comforting…
Rules, like taxes, are for the little people.
Places with cases exploding now may have the UK variant operating now–where the rate of spread WITH precautions, equals the previous rateof spread WITHOUT precautions.
But how would we know…
….Out of the U.K.’s 2.1 million cases, the COVID-19 Genomics Consortium has sequenced 137,000 SARS-CoV-2 genomes total….Contrast that with the United States, which has sequenced only about 51,000 of its 18 million cases….
Researchers studying the new UK strain of the coronavirus think it likely arrived in the US in mid-November, and that many people in the United States could already be infected.
“If I had to guess, I would say it’s probably in hundreds of people by now,” said Michael Worobey, head of the department of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Arizona. “It’s very possible it’s arrived multiple times in multiple places.”
“Imagine the amount of infected travelers leaving London — that’s been increasing exponentially,” said Trevor Bedford, associate professor in the vaccine and infectious disease division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
British scientists have traced the new strain’s earliest known appearance back to September 20 in Kent, a county southeast of London.
Worobey and Bedford say they estimate the virus would have arrived in the US in mid-November.
Both scientists, as well as others around the world, have scoured genetic sequences of coronavirus in the United States to see if any match up with the UK variant. So far, they haven’t found any, but they say that’s likely because the US surveillance system isn’t catching them.
So is it better to set the wrong example and say the wrong thing or to say the right thing and set the bad example?
Let’s forget about setting an example for a moment: shouldn’t these politicians be worried about their own safety? They tell us how dangerous and frightening covid is. Well, shouldn’t even a purely selfish and self interested politician themselves take all those precautions they want to impose on others? Not to set an example, but to save their own skins? And if they aren’t, the conclusion many will draw (rightly or wrongly) is not simply that they are hypocrites…rather that the politicians themselves do not believe the narrative of the dangers of covid.
All of the “clown princes” of the Congress know that if they do come down with COVID they will be first in line to receive the same special treatment that Trump and Christie and others in the ruling class have received, the treatment that none of what they consider to be the “clamoring rabble” would ever receive.
Clearly Trump proved that it’s better to say the “right” thing no matter what you do. And in this case “right” actually means left. Otherwise if you say the wrong thing the limp wristed twitter mob will cause a disturbance in the force so great that it will induce a bowel movement.
I say we draw and quarter them.
Sit them on a sharp pike!
Hangin’s too good for ’em!
Burnin’s too GOOD for ’em!
They need to be torn into ITSY BITSY PIECES
