Democrats Flip Two Florida House Seats Including Trump’s District

The humiliating but well-deserved carnage doesn’t stop there. Details below.

Florida Democrats Win Special Election in Mar-a-Lago’s District

The New York Times reports Florida Democrats Win Special Election in Mar-a-Lago’s District

Democrats on Tuesday flipped a Florida legislative district that includes President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, pulling off another upset in a state house election but this time one with obvious symbolic power.

Emily Gregory, a first-time candidate with a public health background, became the latest Democrat to win a special election and claim a statehouse seat previously held by a Republican.

Since the 2024 presidential election, Democrats have flipped more than two dozen seats in Republican or battleground states — including ones in Arkansas and New Hampshire earlier this month — while the Republicans have not captured any Democratic seats.

“Floridians are tired of the chaos, corruption, and sky high prices on everything from groceries, to gas, and health care,” Nikki Fried, the chairwoman of the Florida Democratic Party, said in a statement.

A Democratic presidential candidate has not won Florida’s electoral votes since 2012, but this year, Florida has not been immune from the Democratic surge. Boca Raton, about 30 miles down the Atlantic coast from Palm Beach, elected its first Democratic mayor in 45 years earlier this month. That margin was narrow, but Miami voters in December overwhelmingly elected their first Democratic mayor in 30 years.

Democrats Flip Mar-a-Lago District

Trump has been bragging that all of his endorsements win. It’s a lie, but this one is on tape.

A Word About Voter Fraud By Republicans

Please note Florida Democratic Party Demands John Maples Exit HD 87 Race as Evidence Points to Residency Violations

For weeks, credible sources have reported, and public records point to the fact that Jon Maples, the Republican candidate for HD 87, does not live in the district. Records show that on January 12th, Jon Maples changed his voter registration address to a motel located in Palm Beach Shores. Neighbors have noted that the address listed on his voter registration has remained vacant. Jon Maples voted using this sham address on March 14th, potentially committing voter fraud.

Trump-endorsed North Carolina state Senate leader loses by 23 votes

Politico reports Trump-endorsed North Carolina state Senate leader loses by 23 votes

North Carolina Senate leader Republican Phil Berger, who touted President Donald Trump’s endorsement throughout his campaign, conceded defeat Tuesday in his primary election in a race he lost by just 23 votes.

Berger, a powerful figure in state politics, and Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page were separated by just two votes when unofficial results first came in for the Greensboro-area seat on election night. A machine recount and a separate hand recount of ballots in some counties affirmed the 23-vote loss for the incumbent.

Trump endorsed Berger in December, calling him an “America First Patriot” who is “doing an incredible job.” But he also praised Page as “great,” and said both candidates are “outstanding people.”

Berger’s defeat creates a power vacuum in Republican politics in North Carolina. He has led Republicans in the state senate since 2005, including all the nearly 15 years they have spent in the majority since 2011.

A Trump-endorsed powerful politician just went down in flames.

Congratulations to Brian Nathan

This is a district Donald Trump carried by 7 points in 2024. It’s also the second Florida seat Democrats have flipped tonight.

CNN: Democrats are winning local elections everywhere throughout 2025 and now throughout 2026, and they’re doing it all over the map. In ruby red states like Florida, in Georgia, in Mississippi, in Texas, in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The math speaks plainly as day. Democrats have huge enthusiasm behind them right now, and Republicans keep losing in places where just in November of 2024, they were winning big.

I don’t understand why the Democrats can’t simply announce: If we win the midterms, we will stop the Trump corruption train by doing A, B, and C. Lots of independents would be ready to vote Democrat based on this single issue.

They are talking about it .. My senator made headlines yesterday talking about the insider trading on the oil markets over the last week.

If (when)Democrats take the house, Trump will be impeached, probably for a long list of things, including the corruption. Other cabinet members will also face impeachment.

The nature of Trump’s personality disorder makes it such that investigation and impeachment will consume him. You’re looking at the best he’s going to do in his presidency right now. It will be downhill from here. After January it will be paranoia, rage, and acting out.

After losing the House and Senate he’ll be left with meddling in other countries with the military for the final 2 years of his presidency.

I just hope that 2 whole years isn’t wasted on silly impeachments when this country needs a lot of real things done. But I fear it will waste 2 years on it.

Hopefully the new house will be able to chew gum and walk at the same time. But unlikely. I think that impeachment is important. The administration is criminal and needs to be hamstrung. I agree that crucial real problems are going unadressed, however I fail to see how they can be addressed at all as long as we have this mad man in the white house.

the war spotters on and on, to what end..

…This all makes the situation of the United States very uncomfortable. Its political culture is extremely short-termist and largely focused on a domestic audience. It has little idea about long-term strategies (as I have pointed out several times, a document is not a strategy) and its decision-making system is personalised, fragmented and labyrinthine. It may not be an exaggeration to say we have arrived at the point where its administration is no longer capable of taking critical decisions. The corollary is that, as the conflict continues, the system will progressively just stop working and will eventually come to a halt. Nothing will happen and nothing can be decided. Mr Trump may well announce some decision or some new policy, but the means to implement it will probably not exist, and any of a number of players will be able to sabotage it. For this reason, as for others I’ll touch on, it seems highly unlikely that there will be a “deal,” with Iran, let alone a detailed agreement. If you can’t even decide what you want, it’s hard to persuade someone to give it to you….

I have said it in the past, and I will state it again, somebody has to get Trump to STFU!! It’s not the ideas so much, as it’s who is delivering the messages.

The Republicans won with good ideas, and good messaging. and now there ideas have went a tad of the rails, and they seemed to have lost the plot. They need a new messenger is all, but again he has to STFU first!! Trumps amount of babble may lose this election for the Republicans.

The Democrats lost with bad ideas and horrible messaging and they seem to be doing the same thing over and over again, but it’s starting to stick, because anything is better than listening to Trump and whatever he has to say. They just have to stay on message, and let Trump speak.

It’s not that the message is any better, and in fact, some could say it’s even worse, but it’s consistent. People want and actually need consistency in their life’s right now. The chaos has been absolutely out of control, on both sides.

So Dems keep it up, and hope Trump doesn’t get Laryngitis or it could be over quickly…

Were I to be consulted, Trump would not be impeached.

He would be placed in irons and delivered over bodily to the people of Iran, and they could do whatever they want with him.

After all, we are regularly assured that the people of Iran are delighted that Trump is bombing them and murdering their children, that they are just itching to be liberated at gunpoint.

Surely, they would greet Trump with open arms and perhaps a colorful native welcoming ceremony!

I only hope that they do put the footage on YouTube.

the contrast between words and deeds is what is biting the GOP in the ass

Their entire shtick is to rile the rubes with “Haitians eating your dog” while greasing the skids for the plutocrats and techbros

throw in a gratuitous war or two, contemptuous looting and graft of government officials, an uncontained army of ill-trained louts, health care going away, and the future under the GOP doesn’t appear to be so bright or so “American”

They certainly have the numbers to swing an election one way or another. They don’t however, have a consistency to their voting record necessarily. With no allegiance to Party, they have no necessary allegiance to either parties ideas.

What they do have however, is the attention to detail on issues they are invested in. When either party adds something to the table, that meets their majority agenda in those categories, it also garners a great deal of votes for that individual of the party and the message they send out. They definitely have swing in that case!

Blind adherence to a party keeps common-sense solutions from happening because the party is more important than anything else. Strict adherence to an ideology is not thinking. It is to keep from thinking. I prefer people who have the flexibility to change their opinion when the facts change so I do like independents.

Both those Democrats are of the centralist’s wing of the Democrat Party and not of the progressive wing. They resemble what used to be the Party before the progressive’s take-over which is why they were able to defeat the Republican candidates. This is not a Mamdani-style coup much to the chagrin of many here. The Democrat party of Florida has been promoting centralist candidates as a way back to relevancy in the state and this by-election shows that this is the way to go. These two seats are for Florida’s legislature and is not a Federal election so it is easy assume it is a precursor of a blue wave when it probably is not. Democrats on the Federal level are still in thrall to their progressive wing and that appeals less and less to the majority of swing voters. In the meantime Florida’s Legislature remains firmly Republican.

Interesting that the shift left in Florida was about 14 points. That’s a similar left shift as in recent PA state house races, although in those 2 case the Republican still won but the victory margin was way down. If you apply a rule that any Republican Conressional representative who won by <15% is likely to lose in Nov, then House goes from 220 Republicans to 166 Republicans.

Stu
Stu

I think the Democrat party knows they need more common ground to have a chance to win. I could see them running more and more centrist candidates to allow that a chance to occur. If they are able to do that, and in the right states, they could have a wonderful election.
This of course means that the Democrats need to also change their overall messaging to be a tad more centrist too. If they can pull that off, against the Shrill of the current Dems then they just might pull it off. If Trump does STFU, then all bets are off however…

It will be framed on the economy which is why they’ll win.

Most American’s don’t really care about the War unless they have a child in the Military who might be deployed there. Americans do however care about the price of gas and cost of living etc which is why it will be framed on the economy (especially gas prices and tariffs).
