Hello America, the Price of Gasoline Tops $4.00 Tomorrow

If you think this is a small price to pay, then thank Trump.

Higher and Higher

The AAA reports National Average Moves Higher, Inches Toward $4 Per Gallon.

July 16, 2026: The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline went up 10 cents since last week to $3.94. Instability along the Strait of Hormuz is contributing to the increase at the pump and pushing crude oil prices toward $80 per barrel. Most states are still averaging less than $4 per gallon. Earlier this year, the national average remained in the $4 range all of April and May and most of June. Last time the national average was $4 or above was on June 17 when it was $4.02.

AAA National Average Fuel Prices

Across the board, all 5 fuel price averages are now higher than a month ago.

The CPI dip in June was a one-time (possibly two-time depending of data collection dates) affair.

Blast Higher Coming

I expect price will top $4.02 this week for the first time since June 17.

Soon, Trump will claim for the 44th or whatever time that Iran is begging for a deal.

Eventually, the market will spike on such lies.

Musical Tribute

When gasoline prices blast higher this week, please keep telling yourself it’s a small price to pay, and Trump is doing this because he loves you.

There is no other logical explanation.

Escalation in Iran Results in Two More Dead U.S. Troops

Speaking of small price to pay, please note Trump’s Foolish Escalation in Iran Results in Two More Dead U.S. Troops

Trump had a golden opportunity to declare victory and move on. He chose unwisely.

By the way, have you noticed that the “small price” is never paid by those demanding it?

According to Gas Buddy, in March 5, 2022, average gas prices climbed above $4 during the Ukraine/Russia war. Prices stayed elevated for 154 days until they consistently fell below $4 on August 6, 2022. Even though the Ukraine/Russia war continued, gas prices declined. How much of the rise in price are futures contracts and manipulation. With Trump’s war with Iran, 154 days would be September 2, for gas to consistently remain above $4. This war was self inflicted, but the amount of media coverage about the price of gas did not occur in 2022.

Yes, it’s a small price to pay, so I will indeed thank President Trump.

BTW, it’s very bizarre how Americans, several past presidents for nearly 50 years and most politicians have said Iran needs to be stopped, but when only one president has the spine to do it, people strangely flip-flop… I don’t get it.

I always said Trump will, out of sheer stupidity, do more to reduce CO2 emissions than any leftist president ever could.

Not so sure gas prices are going to rise, for some reason oil is getting slammed.

Already back to UNCH or up on the day, “slammed” is a bit of a stretch for a 5% spike down that lasted minutes.

Well, by ‘slammed’ I meant ‘intentional intent to manipulate the price to keep it from going up.’

In the last couple of weeks, WTI has climbed from $68 to $82 per barrel $82.50 as I type. Most of the slack in oil supply is now gone. The ghost tankers are now empty and many nations beyond the US are running low on reserves.

Plus the SPR is nearing the point where its structural integrity is questionable.

Anyone that thinks this situation is not about to run into hard limits on oil product availability is out of touch with reality.

What will be the highest price per barrel that Brent oil will reach in the commodities markets between now and the end of August? It’s around $90 now. Anyone want to give their prediction?

My guess is it will hit $133.

Regular gasoline was $2.65 the day trump was re-elected in my market. Today it is $4.39. Thanks for contributing to the MAGA “Village Idiot” competition.

You must stop living in the past. Trump was elected a long, long time ago. Lots has happened since then. One thing that hasn’t however, is gas prices have not stabilized. Gas peaked at $4.33 in May. Now it is July, and cost are at $4.00. That’s a net savings of .33 per gallon. I’m happy about this, and you should be too, unless you’re wishing for higher prices at the pump. Enjoy the wins we you get them, no matter how big or small, as a win is a win!!!

Why didn’t Trump raise gas to $10 then drop it to $4? Then you could be thankful for him dropping prices $6/gallon. Do you realize how dumb you are making yourself sound by picking the top tick and claiming “Trump saved us money from there?” Clearly you don’t or you would have skipped the post.

Stu

The price is the price, and when it goes down we should be thankful, and not wondering why not earlier, why not more, why now etc. I take a savings anywhere I can get it now days. Everything is out of control. It cost me twice as much in my “Delivery Charges” than my actual Electricity cost.
So yes, when I see it drop, I’m happy, filling up all vehicles and gas containers that I have. Take it when you can get it…

Stu what kind of diesel savings are you celebrating under President Trump? I’m interested to see what kind of fingerpaint math you’ll use here.

Stu
Stu

None, as I don’t use diesel fuel, but many do, and if the cost come down for it, then they will be happy, as I am when gasoline goes down. There is more to it than with gasoline, as it hits more places and harder. So you can’t stop some charges no matter the price of the fluid…

It’s totally worth a little pump pain to make sure, 100% sure, there’s no nuke proliferation, right?

Saudi Arabia may acquire nuclear weapons.CNN reports that the US has allegedly approved initial permits for the kingdom to enrich uranium without international safeguards designed to prevent nuclear weapons development. The project is supposedly documented as assistance for Riyadh’s civilian nuclear program. However, with no strict development restrictions, a transition from civilian nuclear energy to military use is almost inevitable.

Oh, nevermind.

[Shrug]. low $5 to high $6 range here in CA.

And last I checked, the sky is not falling, the roads are as crowded as ever, new cars proliferate. People don’t much care about the increased price of gas.

Sure, it is always nice to have lower prices but it isn’t the end of the world!

I can tell you live in California because this absolutely will cost Republicans in red states like mine. We vote this way so we DON’T have to live in commiefornia. If Republicans can’t do that, there’s no reason to keep them around. Seeing as every other policy they have is also underwater.

Yes, the GOP yapped about gas price sunder Biden because that is what happens in election politics. Spread FUD.

But gas prices are a small amount of most people’s budget. If you can’t handle an extra $50/week for a short time w/o straining your budget, then you have other serious problems.

Trump’s gotta keep himself out of Mossad’s cross-hairs and continue appeasing Bibi…if that means $4.00 gas, then $4.00 gas it is.

The recent “peace talks” were just to get holiday gas prices lower and keep
“ALL TIME HIGH JULY 4TH GAS PRICES ON AMERICA’S 250th ANNIVERSARY” out of the headlines….

I have a neighbor that just came into some money from a parental death. He just bought a brand new, lifted 4 feet off the ground, GMC Denali 1ton 4×4 Dually, diesel engine This thing cost at least $90,000. Diesel here is running about $6/gallon right now.
This lazy, low IQ, adorned head to toe with NFL team regalia, fat ass, will never
pull or carry anything with it. This guy mows his lawn(weeds) maybe 4 times a year and his house is the worst on the street and needs a new roof.
Oh, I almost forgot, he still has his -Trump/Vance 2024! – banner in his widow.

Neighbor: ” Hey! c’mon over and check out my new rig!”
Me: “Wow, that’s a really nice truck”.
Inside my head: “What a stupid f**cking idiot!”

nearly £1.50 per litre/$7.50usd for one of your US gallons of diesel when i filled up earlier this week here in England…and thats ‘cheap’, and after a 5% card discount… at the cheaper supermarket. Most places already well above that, some motorway service stations charging £1.80 a litre/ $9 a US gallon.

So be happy…however pricey it gets in the US…it will always be more here.

$5.60 for me this morning. The gas pump said $91 for the prior user. Mine was $14 and change.
I’m a 1970s child. Long-range, I built my life around not being vulnerable to this. Almost everything is top quality and walkable from where I am. Does that take trade-offs? Big time, long term. I went without, in normal times, to position myself for this. There are ants, and there are grasshoppers. Took my 6 miles hills walk pre-sunrise: keeps the doctor away too.
My neighbor did the opposite. In a boom time, he was making lots of cash, self-employed, driving his truck all over the state, daily. A good guy. But did I mention he and the truck aren’t around anymore?
