Larry Elder Delivers Excellent Speech to San Diego County Republican Party: Play It!

Highlights

  • I can declare a statewide emergency on homelessness.
  • 75% of black boys in California cannot read at state level proficiency. I want to give parents a choice in education.
  • 80% of public school children in California are black or brown. The polls show a majority of urban black or brown parents want choice. Yet they pull that lever year after year for the Democratic Party that has not given them the first step towards leaving poverty which is a quality high school education.
  • Don’t get me started on water. You got me started on water.
  • For the first time in our state’s history there is a net migration out of California. And they are not the millionaires and billionaires, these are people making between $50K and $100K who cannot get their first house. That’s the first reason they cite for leaving California. We are going to turn that around.
  • My father was a lifelong Republican. He told me Democrats want to give you something for nothing. And when you try to get something for nothing, you almost always get nothing for something.
  • We have gone from 25% of black kids born out of wedlock in 1965 to 70% now. It’s a welfare state. With our welfare state we have incentivized women to marry government and incentivized men to abandon financial and moral responsibility.
  • I submit to you that systemic racism is not the problem and critical race theory is not the answer. [Standing Ovation]

Elder for Governor

Newsom will probably win…because they have NOW printable ballots(at home) and it’s all mail-in. The farce must go http://on.How to print your ballot here:

Democrats have only minimal ways to win, but they sure do know how to get around the rules

Larry Elder is an intelligent man, and it wouldn’t be the end of the world if he was California’s governor for 15 months. Can he win a real election in November 2022? Hell no.

I just listened to the speech and I was very impressed. I remember the time when Proposition13 was on the June 1978 ballot. All of the movers and shakers in the state appeared to oppose it, but it passed anyway. More than 43 years later, it is still largely intact. I am not looking for any miracles from Mr. Elder but I will vote for him.

My comment about Elder, which had to do with explaining  how people who actually know something and tell the truth don’t generally fare well in politics, was rejected for violating the terms of service. I have no idea why.
I won’t go to the trouble of repeating myself. The commentaries here today prove the point well enough.
I expect Newsome to hang on by a thread. Cali has to get worse before the liberal sentimentality can be rejected, imho.

In a straight up election Elder wouldn’t get any press, no candidate with 8 or 10% would.  But this is California, and our patriotic republicans hate democracy, hate California and will stop at nothing to destroy it.  They claim to be responsible and fiscally conservative but have no problem forcing an expensive and wasteful recall election 12 months from the next gubernatorial election.  The 200 million that the state is spending on this election could have gone towards homeless issues or the water crisis that Elder sheds his crocodile tears over.  Here’s a note to CA Republicans: how about running a candidate in the next election that’s NOT a psychotic “don’t tread on me” loon, or a Trumpite.  You might win more than 38% of the vote.

LOL!!! Thanks for the laughs LewisM!  “The CA Republicans are spending money that should go towards the problems we created like homelessness and the bankruptcy of all state employee pensions!!!  Not to mention the exodus of the working class!!!”

A recall election is democratic.
The people sign petitions. Once a threshold is reached, an election is called.
The Democrat Party is destroying California. A neighbor of mine grew up under Castro and left California last year, due to what the Democrats are doing to the state.

The recall threshold is flawed.  It only takes 12% of voters to sign a petition to trigger a recall in CA, it should be much higher.  Would democrats be justified in starting a recall petition the day after if a republican wins the recall election with 8% of the vote?  As for your friend leaving California, good riddance.  There are too many people here and too few resources like water.

Elder defends ouster of a leading Trump dissident from GOP.  See, it is a battle for the party, and Elder is on the wrong side. Big tent is the norm, and purity is doesn’t win elections. Trump is an exception. Kick him and his out of the tent. Vote them out.  Don’t vote them in.
Notice ELder’s use of scare quotes around big lie.  Not OK. It was the big lie. And to equivocate about that in and of itself costs Elder my vote.

Do Vaccine passports violate your right to silence?
When asked if vaccinated is your word not good?  Are you not innocent until proven guilty.
If you are forced to take a profit making vaccine, with no legal recourse regarding adverse effects, are you not a slave?

Hey, whatever happened to “they deserve to make profits because of all the investments they made in R&D <blah> <blah> <blah>” ?!   Or, are you now on the side of progressives who oppose Big Pharma making huge profits off of the American people?!

Wow! What a charismatic speaker! And no political experience whatsoever! Nothing to weigh ‘him’ down. Umm, wait… haven’t we seen this before? He says all the right things, points out all the right problems, but offers zero solutions? “…surely we can figure this out”, he exclaims. Sounds like he has no clue how to solve anything but he’ll just go with all the recycled one liner knee jerk solutions that the GOP loves to offer. Just one example to prove I watched the whole thing. Water. Southern California is a freak’n desert. Israel has 8M people. SC has 24M. Not to mention the millions more that drain the Colorado before it even gets to SC. Larry wants to solve the water problem while keeping Ag jobs. Not gonna happen unless you can send water from the north or east, cheap. Ag ‘is’ the problem. And it’s going to be a tough bullet to bite. (Although, side note, CA Central Valley could experience a biblical flood, see Dec 1861 – Jan 1862). He might be making a big mistake if he wins the office. He’ll only have a few months to get something done before the next election campaign cycle begins. Of course that could just as well be an excuse. He won’t have had time enough to accomplish anything significant he’ll say. But come Election Day he’ll have had a solid year. Of course it always depends on who the opposition puts up. But he’s great at delivering the one liners and stories, both! Very entertaining! But that just seems to be the GOP winning strategy these days, rinse, repeat…

well, the hitler in there now is a complete utter disgrace and pos. As someone who lives in San Francisco including when he was the current corrupt ugly democrat of the San Francisco democrat mafia as mayor you expected this out of that scum.  He is under recall hasn’t stopped one lawn from being watered. Blew money on nothing, instead of forests. Didn’t have the brains to put Natl Guard in every forest sector for 3 month deployment with dry conditions known in March. Let go of 70K prison firemen, u know those democrat elite criminals. Makes me pay for illegal alien leeches and my family for the rest of their lives. I wish he died of covid yesterday

That’s OK.  The goal is to STOP Newsom from doing MORE damage than he already has.  What will Newsom do?  Just take a look at what he’s done in the past and anticipate bigger and worse!
Newsom’s tyrannic Covid management is the primary reason the recall petition succeeded.
Under Newsom’s heavy-handed use of emergency powers, businesses were forced to open and close, open and close repeatedly. Covid rules seemed to change every couple of weeks.
Healthy people were quarantined in their homes for extended periods. Many lost jobs that will never come back. Many had to spend long hours waiting in line for food handouts. Many landlords have tenants that are behind on rent and are unlikely to ever pay what they owe. Religious freedom was constrained.
Covid was used as an excuse by Newsom to move hundreds of thousands of homeless and drug addicts into hotels on the public dime. Hundreds of thousands of businesses were forced to shut down. Billions of individual and business assets evaporate due to unreasonable fear of Covid. Lifetime savings were lost.
Newsom thought that Covid would hand us a significant budget deficit but  that supposed deficit turned into a massive budget SURPLUS ($75 BILLION!) that Newsom is now using to bribe people into voting for him with huge money handouts, lottery prizes for getting vaccinated and at least a $600 payment (coming in September right before the recall vote) for 3.4 of the state population.
Then there is his fire mismanagement, where he apparently learned nothing from last years huge fires and so here we are again with the same problems of CA burning to the ground.
Next there are the serve water problems across the state as we wallow in yet another extended drought.  Farmers are plowing there crops and trees under as their water gets turned off.
And don’t forget that while the public schools were closed, Newsom’s kids were in private, in-person schools.
Outside of his poor Covid management, Newsom is the first Governor to lose a House Congressional seat due to so many people leaving the state under his watch.
Then there was that no-mask, in-your-face dinner he attended at the famous French Laundry where the wine bill alone came out to $12,000!
Newsom and his supporters want to gloss over his Covid and state mismanagement by trying to turn the recall into the usual “us vs. them” issue (Pubs vs. Dems). It’s NOT!  Newsom is the epitome of privilege and incompetence, rolled into one package.

Elder put party loyalty ahead of country. Do not excuse or forgive support for Trump, at least while Trumpism remains a threat. We can’t have a reconstruction of the GOP without a purge of the GOP.  Yes, Elder has some wonderful libertarian sensibilities. But, no, the ends of good policy don’t justify the means of supporting Trump or a Trump supporter.

One also has to see if the Bradley Effect comes into play and how that could change the picture.   After all there is another alternative:  “On the right, there are his proposals to make all coronavirus safety measures optional, to ditch income tax for anyone making less than $250,000, to use the National Guard to get all unhoused Californians off the streets and to give trained gun owners more rights. His introduction video also features clips from Fox News and from conservative media host Ben Shapiro.”
That is the so-called centrist Democrat Kevin Paffrath.   And while Elder will get very few Democratic votes, Paffrath could get many Democratic voters as well : “On the left, Paffrath calls for a version of universal basic income, more solar and wind farms, support for marriage equality and higher pay for teachers.”

FWIW this speech would have been more effective in Oakland or East LA than San Diego. Exactly how many black people live in San Diego county ? Elder campaigning in places where he is already going to get the most votes is a losing strategy.

Despite the call for cheaper housing there is more international money coming into California driving up housing prices everywhere. If not for the buyers at high cost places the sellers wouldnt be able to move. How exactly does Elder or any other politician propose bringing down the price of housing ? It has zero to do with educational choice. The water crisis maybe the only thing that can stop it throughout the west but that only means the money has to find another place to drive up housing.

Elder would lower housing prices by allowing supply to grow. He would attempt to reduce legal barriers to construction, environmental andlow-income set-asides, rent control, density restrictions, anti-development zoning, etc.  it’s a supply problem.  Foreigners don’t inflate local housing prices, unless the foreigners move in. Even then, they are a net positive to housing prices, as big, vibrant economies reduce real costs.  Elder knows how to reduce housing costs.  I still won’t vote for him, because he urged reelection of Trump.

There is very little land left to build on that isn’t around a forest or a place where fires spread quickly. Prices are not going to come down because there is black money still coming in. I saw empty homes in Carmel on my last visit there. There are not even people living in these homes and it is just the most legal form of money laundering there is. Sellers are getting out of escrow with buyers in order to take all cash offers.

look into Obama foreign tax policy and foreign home ownership changes in 2015….you will unravel a lot not, also the fed, govt, treasury and wall street re housing reit sector created….at that time all foreclosures should have went to vets at same penny on the dollar prices…..pigmen always win
Sorry, Potter won, he had the govt. this time and george has no angel to save the people of Bedford Falls.
