Putin Agrees to Talk with Zelensky but No Date or Confirmation from Russia

Putin and Zelensky have allegedly agree to talk, no dates set.

Zelensky-Trump Updates

Trump met with Zelensky and the leaders of Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Finland to discuss Ukraine’s war with Russia.

Here is a chronological look at events courtesy of the Wall Street Journal.

Trump Snaps an Unusual White House ‘Family Photo’ With Top European Officials

Trump stood in the middle of the photo, flanked by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to his right and French President Emmanuel Macron to his left. Leaders from France, Italy, the U.K., Finland, the EU and Nato were also there.

European Leaders Praise Trump

“Something has changed, thanks to you,” Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said to President Trump. “If we want to reach peace and if we want to guarantee justice, we have to do it united.” She said security guarantees are a vital part of the conversation. French President Emmanuel Macron echoed such remarks.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Trump had opened the door to a resolution but noted complicated next steps. “Let’s try to put pressure on Russia,” he said, advocating a cease-fire to emerge from whatever meeting comes next. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said a top priority in addition to ending the war was returning Ukrainian children held in Russia.

‘We’ll Journey Together,’ Trump Tells Europeans

“I think President Putin wants to find an answer too—we’ll see,” Trump said. “We’ll journey together … It’s possible it might not be able to be done. On the other hand, it’s possible.”

The Sartorial Evolution of Volodymyr Zelensky: From Olive Drab to Black Suit

Zelensky’s decision not to wear a suit at the two leaders’ February meeting in Washington sparked a testy exchange. The White House requested that Zelensky wear a suit and tie for Monday’s meeting.

Zelensky showed up wearing a black suit-style jacket. The same reporter who had questioned his attire in February, Brian Glenn of Real America’s Voice, complimented his look: “You look fabulous in that suit.”

Zelensky Thanks Trump More Than a Dozen Times in Latest White House Visit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was thankful over a dozen times during public remarks with President Trump at the White House on Monday.

Trump had criticized Zelensky during a previous meeting in February for not expressing sufficient gratitude.

Trump Pauses White House Meeting, Saying He’s Going to Call Putin

President Trump paused his White House meeting with European leaders Monday afternoon, saying he was going to call Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to two senior European officials at the meeting.

Trump had flagged earlier Monday that he would speak to Putin to brief him on discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the European leaders. He is aiming to set up a three-way summit with Putin and Zelensky in the coming days to forge a pathway to ending the war in Ukraine.

Trump’s Hot Mic Moment on Putin: ‘I Think He Wants to Make a Deal for Me’

President Trump was caught on a hot mic saying he thinks Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to reach an agreement over the war in Ukraine. “I think he wants to make a deal for me. You understand that? As crazy as it sounds,” he said in audio captured by CNN at the White House Monday.

‘I Love It’: Zelensky’s Suit Sends a Message in Washington

“I love it,” President Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky when he arrived at the White House on Monday for a high-stakes meeting.

Trump was talking about Zelensky’s suit. When the Ukrainian leader emerged from his vehicle, he was wearing a blazer-style jacket, collared shirt (no tie), pants and combat boots, all in his favored black. The patch-pocket jacket, crafted from army canvas fabric, came from Viktoranisimov, the Ukrainian label whose clothes he’s worn exclusively for most of this year, according to a representative for the brand.

It seemed to land with its audience: outside the White House, Trump gave Zelensky a good once-over, gesturing at his get-up like a proud grandfather.

Trump Pushes for Peace Summit With U.S., Russia and Ukraine

President Trump on Monday urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet face to face at a peace conference he would convene in a long shot bid to end the 3½-year-long war in Ukraine.

The plan represents a bold and potentially risky maneuver by Trump to move toward settling the bloody war without achieving a cease-fire first and with Kyiv and Moscow still seemingly far apart on the terms of a final deal.

Trump touted the idea for the peace conference during an Oval Office meeting with Zelensky and in talks with European leaders who joined the Ukrainian president at the White House on Monday. He said he would put the idea directly to Putin in a call, and paused his meeting with the leaders to do so, according to European officials. The White House didn’t respond to a request for comment.

Trump Says He Is Making Arrangements With Putin for Meetings With Zelensky

President Trump said he spoke Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a bid to set up a pair of high-level meetings aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

Trump said he started making arrangements with Putin for a bilateral meeting between the Russian leader and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. After that meeting, Trump said he hopes to hold a trilateral meeting that will include himself and the Russian and Ukrainian leaders.

Kremlin Doesn’t Commit to Trilateral Meeting

Russia said that President Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed continuing negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv but the Kremlin didn’t commit to a leaders meeting.

“The presidents spoke in favor of continuing direct negotiations between the delegations of the Russian Federation and Ukraine,” Russian state news agency TASS quoted the Kremlin as saying. “Putin and Trump discussed the idea of raising the level of direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations.”

NATO Leader Says Putin Agrees to Meet With Zelensky

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Rutte shared details of a phone call between Putin and President Trump on Monday, held in the middle of a meeting between the American president and top European officials, including Rutte. “He was able, in a conversation with President Putin, to have Putin to agree to first a meeting between Putin and Zelensky. So they will now discuss where that meeting will take place in the run up to the trilateral,” Rutte said on Fox News Monday. The Kremlin hasn’t committed to a meeting with Trump, Putin and Zelensky.

Zelensky Says There’s No Date for Potential Talks With Putin

“We don’t have any date,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told reporters about a potential meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

President Trump said he hopes to hold a trilateral meeting with himself and the Russian and Ukrainian leaders. Zelensky, speaking outside the White House after the day’s meetings, said Ukraine was ready for a trilateral meeting. “Ukraine will never stop on the way to peace,” he said, and was ready for any kind of meeting format, but added that it had to be “on the level of leaders.”

I suspect we have a severe communications issue about what has been agreed to or not, especially if Rutte is getting his ideas second-hand from Trump.

Regardless, this meeting went as well as could possibly have been expected. This is in stark contrast to the previous two meetings.

So congrats to team Trump and Zelensky.

Now, it’s wait and see what comes of it.

It was no folly, it was a purposeful installation of a comedian puppet to set the stage for the eventual “Ukraine War” that they knew they could force Putin to “start”.

Japan occupied Port Arthur (Liang, China) between 1905 and 1945. In 1941 800K Japanese soldiers occupied Manchuria. In 1941 they attacked Pearl Harbor. In 1945,
after WWII was over, Stalin invaded Manchuria, stole factories, locomotives, RR and
gave the looted Japs weapon to Mao. They killed about 80K and send many to Siberia, were they died. Mao killed 200K/300K Japs. The rest surrendered. Attacking Pearl Harbor was very risky. Both the US and Russia finished them off. Putin has no reasons to fight in Ukraine for 40 more years.

Why waste 500K soldiers lives and 400 drones/day if u can blow 2/3 nuke in one day, for a few days. Will Trump sacrifice the US for Zelensky’s black suit. Didn’t Trump/Bibi eliminate a mini nuke. Didn’t Truman nuke Nagasaki and Hiroshima for Stalin. Only Trump and Putin have the nukes (more than 200pcs). It’s all about power: after a few thousands dead NATO will end along with the war in Ukraine. The world will be divided between: the US and Russia. The EU, China and India superstates are bs !

I’m glad you’re seeing the bigger picture now. For the past couple of days, you’ve been acting like a journalist wanting instant results from a meeting and when not getting them, making up your own tea leaves. That generates good clickbait headlines, but accuracy fails.

Remember Rekjavik when Reagan and Gorbachev met? There weren’t instant results out of that, except for Reagan turning down Gorbachev on killing the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI). But an Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty came out of that and the dialogue did help start other initiatives.

Give things time to cook. The Ukraine war isn’t stopping on a dime no matter how much desperation there is in the air. That’s just reality.

After 3+ years of hot war and millions of soldier and civilian casualties, what are the odds we end up with the same Minsk 1 and 2 agreements that could have prevented the war if both sides had adhered to them?

Sentient

Minsk II would have left Donbas as part of Ukraine, albeit with a measure of autonomy. Now it’s Russia. And Russia will end up with most of – if not all – of Zaporozhye and Kherson. The longer Ukraine takes to accept Russia’s offer, the less Ukraine there will be. If they listen to Starmer and Rutte, they’ll have nothing but Lvov.

And there’s even an outside chance of Poland retaking Lvov. It was part of Poland until the USSR invaded Poland in 1939.

Trumpists have stuck the bumper sticker “Russia hoax” on things since 2016, and Putin’s move on Crimea in 2014 (Obama’s watch) is no small thing. But a salient truth for me is, Putin so far got everything vis a vis Trump he could hope for. The only things Putin didn’t get were due to his miscalculations and western opposition in 2022, which made his Ukraine blitzkrieg bog down. But then, to his joy, Trump is back. Trump should be asking for all kinds of, say, long term arctic concessions, but he won’t. His headline-crazy, “stable genius” cognitive span doesn’t reach that far.

What Trump should have said to Putin.

Mr. Putin if Russia continues this war America will make sure you lose. We will supply all the drones, F-15 fighter jets and stealth bombers to American trained Ukrainian pilots that is needed to eliminate your forces where ever they are. Furthermore you will retreat to the original boundaries before the war started and give Ukraine reparations of the equivalent of two trillions of US Dollars immediately. You must agree to this in public if you wish to leave Alaska alive. If you do not agree you will not be alive to see Russia lose.
The choice is yours, make it now.

Putin didn’t have to spook Trump. He just had to burst the bubble of CIA bullshit that surrounded Trump – that the 10:1 killed ratio is in Russia’s favor, not Ukraine’s, that Russia is building 1,000 FPV drones a day, that Russia has 35,000 volunteers every month while Ukraine is press-ganging men who’ve never held a gun, that Patriots can’t shoot down Iskanders, that you can’t train Ukrainian pilots in a couple months. And most importantly that in the extremely unlikely event that the West could get the upper hand, Russia would rather take down the West along with them rather than face the West’s decade’s long plan to disassemble the Russian Federation. We don’t get to decide whether Ukraine is existential to Russia. Russia does.

Trump is not only a pervert, he has welcomed the war criminal Putin on to US soil with a red carpet welcome. Handing Putin credibility and political strength after previous administrations spent hundreds of billions and our military had him ostracized from influence in the world.

Why?

Trump is a long term Putin friend and ally, he sees himself as a dictator and strongman as well. Trump is the wanna-be oligarch of the west…

Trump practically glows at enriching Putin and Russia by gifting him the eastern third of the country and coastal lands of the Ukraine. Little doubt remains that there is the probability of Trumps personal enrichment through being gifted coastal real estate holdings.

Just as with “Trump Gaza” Trump is a sellout to brutality and aggression. This has always been his method of operation. Ask the many contractors that supplied materials and labor that went unpaid and were told “I’ll sue you if you and keep you in court if you try to collect” Trump bankrupted more than a few contractors in south Florida…

So watch for “Trump Crimea” and “Trump Sochi” and Trump Gaza” as Trump enriches himself, Putin and Netanyahu.

Elections have consequences!

Then more ominously, we have this jibberish:

Just as with “Trump Gaza” Trump is a sellout to brutality and aggression.

I forgot. Did Trump send in the Marines to kill over 1,200 Israelis on 10/7 or was that Hamas?

Every US president that I know of has supported Israel, when they were attacked by Arabs. This means Israel is the one doing the killing, not the US. Sure, they’re using our bombs, but the Arabs are using Russia’s guns, bullets, etc.

Isreal is a SOVERIGN country that has been attacked by Arab countries & terrorists thousands of times over the last 77 years.

FYI – The Arabs are like Russia & the Ukrainians are like Israel, just in case, Frosty, you’re struggling to figure this out.

Likewise, both wars would end tomorrow if Russia & Hamas stopped their aggression.

Putin Agrees to Talk with Zelensky but No Date or Confirmation from Russia
=====
another western induced catch phrase from people who never EVER been in Ukraine/ Russia, know nothing about at least 400 years of Russia (+ukraine ) history,

and it seems like dont even remember what happened in 2014 , 2019 or 2022 years,

and of course dont know russian/ukraine langs.
====
just as reminder

in 2014 / 2015 poroshenko, legitimate elected western supported president , signed off Minsk , and Minsk 2. Ukraine did not do anything about.

more, Merkel confessed it was just to buy time to to re-arm Ukraine!!

BTW THOSE papers WERE VOTED IN BY UN SECURITY COUNCIL

=====
2019 Zelensky voted as new president!!
his exact words in Russian lang before elections:

= i am gonna to sit and talk even w/ DEVIL to stop donbass conflict
= dont touch russian lang, let people talk the way they want!

as reminder Russian lang on Ukraine has been language of educated people, and local Ukraine has been lang of peasants for centuries.

now Russia lang basically is prohibited. you could be arrested for even speaking in public
=====

in 2022 zelesnky almost signed papers to stop war 2022, but boris jonhson asked him no to.

result: close to 1 mil dead overall, and 8*10 mil of Ukraines left country

SO QUESTION IS SO WHY WOULD Putin AGAIN AGREE TO MEET Ukraine PRESIDENT?

While this all has to be seen as a step forward – if I were Zelensky I would be terrified of a 3-way with Trump and Putin. Seems like a setup to be backed into a corner. I think he needs to insist on a Western ally that he can trust is acting in good faith to be there as well. Trump is way too unpredictable to be right in the middle at this stage ideally he would leave himself out until any final signing summit.

Also any US security guarantee has to involve some kind of minor US trip wire (e.g. a small set of US soldiers in Ukraine). The main involvement/tripwire of course should be provided by Europe but the US needs to be locked in somehow. Without skin in the game TACO will simply back out of any guarantee and we will be back to square one.

Nonsense. What treaty was that ever agreed in. Also it was coupled with a massive decrease in European defence spending so was never a threat to Russia. The agreement that was signed was that ukraine gave up nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees. Bet you think that this is all this is zelenskys fault. Getting really fed up with people in the US that have never left the country making comments about Europe.

This is what ChatGPT says:

what was the treaty in which ukraine agreed to give up nuclear weapons?
ChatGPT said:
That was the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances, signed on 5 December 1994.

  • After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine inherited the world’s third-largest nuclear arsenal.
  • Under the Budapest Memorandum, Ukraine agreed to give up its nuclear weapons and join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as a non-nuclear-weapon state.
  • In return, the United States, United Kingdom, and Russia (later joined by France and China with separate statements) provided security assurances. These included:
  • Respect for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and existing borders
  • Refraining from the threat or use of force against Ukraine
  • Refraining from economic coercion
  • Seeking UN Security Council action if Ukraine became a victim of aggression involving nuclear weapons

Who is twisting facts Mario?

Trump is smart. He positioned himself in win-win position. Either there is a peace deal withing reasonable time (3 months or so). Or he slowly pushes Europe to put its own head into a noose – he makes empty promises and he walks back piece by piece US commitment towards Europe in regards to UKR war. Europe will pay for US weapons, pay to support UKR and gets nothing in exchange from the US, no guarantess regarding proxy war with Russia. Europe understands the game, kicks and screams and begs but it doesn’t help. Europe is in lose-lose position thanks to its own mistakes and thanks to goal of its leaders who use the war and Russian threat to federalize Europe against the will of its working class. UKR is lost regardless of what the outcome is – depopulated, indebted, partially destroyed. split between factions hating each other. Russia will keep fighting, it is not easy, it hurts people and economy but they see as existential fight now. The war may go on for 3 more months until UKR army starts retreating everywhere due to massive shortage of manpower at all sectors of the line of contact. Then we may see the repeat of Alaska and WH meetings with hopefuly positive results and quick peace deal. But then it will be on Moscow’s terms and Trump will be just a mediator without any leverage over Kremlin (he didn’t seem to have much of it in Anchorage either).

The meeting will take place within two weeks and probably earlier. The Europeans, the US and the Ukrainians have agreed on more than just broad principles. They have agreed on the details of the security guarantee which is the key. Inviting Finland was an astute decision since Finland did lose land to Russia but managed to rebound economically, become militarily powerful again and what is especially important is that it was able to save its people. It is the model for Ukraine.

It should be clear that there has been a lot going on behind the scenes ever since Trump came into office and this coming together is a powerful message. All parties including Russia are looking for a way out of this war.

The cognitive dissonance formally prevalent in the leaders is being resolved permitting a resolution to the war.

If Zelenskyyy and the Europeons would surrender now, Ukraine could probably keep Odessa and Kharkov. If not, they’ll lose those, too.

At what cost to the Kremlin and Russian people ? Sounds like Putin wants Ukraine to give up Donbas which was Stalin-ized many years ago with Russian ethnics.

And allow the Kremlin to continue to occupy the region north of Crimea but not officially “own it” like Donbas and Crimea ?

Utterly embarrassing, especially Giorgia Meloni. They’re just buttering up the narcissist because they’re trying to prevent him from completely capitulating to Putin.

I don’t know why Melons cares. It has nothing to do with Italy.

Trump wants to “end the war” by giving Russia everything it wants and nothing that Ukraine needs. This is peace? Maybe for you, comrade, but not for me.

Putin said the next time they meet it has to be in Russia.

Maybe Putin has a plan to kidnap Trump? Zelensky too? Could get interesting.

If Trump does get kidnapped, will the U.S. actually want him back?

Absolutely NOT!

Russia is Trumps favorite country so they can keep him and his entire group of sycophants!

Putin and Trump can play developers and pedophiles in Russia!

they’ll meet in a “neutral” country like Malta, Turkey, Cyprus or Armenia or even South Korea or Japan

Trump should get Zelensky to wear the red cap that says “4 More Years” and fly Zelensky in a B-2 bomber to the meeting place

“War, what is it good for, absolutely nothing. I’ll say it again.”

After Vietnam, military industrial complex realized American boys cannot die in exchange for your profits. Now if Ukrainians young men die, all profit and no downside – until you run out of Ukrainian young men. We are now at the point, expect peace.

Locust warpigs will fix their gaze on another part of the globe to provoke a conflict.

I don’t think that even that stops this (gravy) train. IF they have to buy bodies from even less fortunate places they will. This is and always has been a money making machine for the West. The prodded and prodded Putin until his hand was forced, then the billions began to flow just as they wanted. So no one is shutting down this party, I mean operation, for at least 10 years.

Yeah but how many Ukie women with looks are left after the Slavic sex gangs run them through the EU hooker trade?
I have a neighbor who left after the fall, him and his wife are real assholes.
They have two hot daughters, but their voices are like the nails on a chalkboard scene from Jaws.
And they too are assholes.
Plus one is ageing out and is not a Lesbian.
The wife has a fit little body but every year she looks more and more like Popeye.

Maybe you should realize life is like a mirror and your disgusting attitude is just being reflected back at you. If you visited a mental health specialist you might learn to hate less and in turn have a better life and hate yourself less too.

One thing is for certain. This is that putin will not agree to anything that is not in his best interests.

News flash, Putin is the leader of a nation of 143 million people. They have “best interests” like security and national prosperity as well. Would YOU like Chinese bases and missiles located in Toronto? How about in Nuevo Laredo? Well Putin and his people do not want NATO (US) bases on their last remaining border/buffer zone, and that is extremely understandable. Ukraine was the red line and the Russians have said that it was for decades.

I think it’s closer to 150 million now with the addition of parts of former Ukraine.

yes but Donbas was Stalin-ized many years ago and its essentially 100% Russian ethnic

that is why I think Putin said the peace treaty includes Ukraine allows Kremlin to keep Donbas (and they already owned Crimea as of 2014)

but I’m not sure about the other regions like Kherson being that much of Kremlin kool-aid drinkers like Donbas even if they are “Russian ethnic” like “Russian speaking”

George Kennan, John Mearsheimer and Henry Kissinger are among the many distinguished Western policy experts who warned for many years not to try to wean Ukraine away from Russian influence….

Ultimately though, its up to the Ukrainians themselves….

No it’s not up to them. The CIA installed a Jewish entertainer/puppet to instigate this border dispute/battle for Russia’s national security.

Ukraine’s best interest is to STOP and let Russia now that they will remain forever neutral, just like Canada and Mexico know that they can never get in bed with either China or Russia lest they get beaten to a pulp by Uncle Sam.
