The Main Problem in a Mideast Deal is Getting Both Sides to Accept Lies

Israel does not trust Hamas, nor does Hamas trust Israel. Why should either trust each other or US negotiators?

The Temporary Occupation

The Wall Street Journal reports Israel Is Building a Road Bisecting Gaza to Prepare for Next Phase of War

The Israeli army is expanding a road across central Gaza to facilitate its military operations, part of its plans to maintain security control over the enclave for some time, according to defense officials.

The gravel-paved road is one of a number of Israeli efforts to reshape the topography of the Gaza Strip—and give its military freedom of movement and a tighter grasp on the territory that was the launchpad for the Oct. 7 attack that killed about 1,200 people in southern Israel and sparked the current conflict.

The building and expansion of the road comes as the Israeli military is also building a roughly 1-kilometer buffer zone just inside Gaza’s border with Israel, where Palestinians would be barred from entry.

U.S. officials have warned Israel repeatedly against altering Gaza’s borders or carving up its territory. They have publicly voiced opposition to the creation of a buffer zone.

The east-west route is intended to be used and patrolled until Israeli military operations in Gaza are complete, which could last months or even years, according to Israeli officials, who say they have no intention to permanently occupy Gaza but plan to maintain “security control” within its borders for an indefinite period. In the wake of the Oct. 7 attack, Israel pledged to eradicate the threat of Hamas from Gaza.

North and South Gaza

An Israeli-occupied road dividing Gaza could last years, or even decades. The buffer zone surrounding Gaza appears to be permanent. Does anyone really think Israel will leave? Why?

Hamas aside, why should any Palestinian believe Israeli occupation is temporary?

Unfortunately, it seems we are about to have North and South Gaza just as we have East and West Jerusalem.

The border between east and west Jerusalem disappeared in 1967, but a new security fence separates the two.

Both Israel and Palestine claim Jerusalem as their capital with Israel controlling the west and Palestine the east. However, Israel allows Jewish settlements in the east. East Jerusalem has been occupied by Israel since 1967

That’s what temporary means.

Negotiators in Paris Press On

Meanwhile, in Paris, Negotiators Press On in Bid to Pause Israel-Hamas Fighting

American and Arab officials are intensifying efforts to narrow the gaps between Israel and Hamas in a deal to pause the fighting in Gaza and free Israeli hostages, Egyptian officials said, after a crucial meeting in Paris helped revive stalled negotiations.

The mediators’ main challenge is to produce an agreement convincing Hamas that a permanent cease-fire is eventually possible at the end of a humanitarian pause, while allowing Israel to avoid any such commitment, the officials said.

The Main Challenge

Officials openly state the main challenge is to get Hamas to believe in a permanent cease fire without Israel offering that.

That’s quite the admission, and challenge.

Sugar Coating

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also on Friday unveiled a blueprint for postwar Gaza that calls for it to be administered by local Palestinian leaders while Israel maintains a heavy security presence.

Let’s remove the “security force” sugar-coated euphemism.

Netanyahu wants a permanent occupation in Gaza that includes a north-south border and an additional buffer zone with Israel.

Biden and Macron Intervene

Western leaders, including President Biden, are pressing Israel not to invade Rafah because of concerns over how it could worsen the already dire humanitarian situation in the enclave. More than 29,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel began its offensive, according to Palestinian health authorities, the majority of them women and children. The numbers don’t distinguish between civilians and combatants.

In a call with Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron reiterated his opposition to a Rafah invasion. “The two leaders agreed on the importance of an agreement being reached without delay,” the French president’s office said.

All String and No Carrot

President Biden opposes an invasion of Rafah. So does Macron.

But what is Biden doing about it?

Biden wants tens of billions of dollars in aid to Israel. Not that stubborn mules like Netanyahu would heed, but where’s the stick or carrot?

Fundamental Issue and Primary Objectives

The fundamental issue that negotiators try to bury is Israel and Hamas have vowed to destroy each other. Any truce is guaranteed to be temporary when total destruction of the other is the stated objective of both.

The goal of the US should not be to get Israel and Hamas to accept each other’s lies, even temporarily. Rather, the only policy that makes any sense is getting Israel and Hamas to change their stated objectives.

The US has been an enabler of Israel settlements which led to increased violence. Specifically, the US should stop looking away when Israel expands settlements in Palestinian territory.

This position does not excuse what Hamas did. But as with Ukraine, the US needs to step back and assess the ways our foreign policy have a marked tendency of making matters worse.

We don’t need to assess the ways our foreign policy makes matters worse, because they have INTENDED to make matters worse – until they get WWIII.

While there may be some benefit in understanding the “ways” they brought about the Great Reset / Build Back Better / the 4th Industrial Revolution, but what comes next? All one really needs to do is read and listen to what these globalist Nutjobs have actually said and written to understand the “ways”. So, what happens after you’ve learned the ways they’ve messed up foreign policy, cities, economies, food, healthcare, the border, etc, etc, etc?

The only thing that matters is actions, because these Nutjobs cannot be persuaded, or even voted out of office. The vast majority of people already know the Biden Pretendency is destroying the country. It doesn’t matter if they know its intentional or not. What are they suppose to do about it, especially when any other choice is being taken away from them?

The USA war machine. About 2.1 million people are employed by the defense industry. Their average annual salary is +$100,000. The companies they work
for produced revenues in 2022 of $741 billion.

Now add active-duty uniformed personnel at 1.37 million and reserves of 849,000. There are 750 U.S. military bases in more than 80 countries outside of
the U.S. Annual
salary and benefits of the military are currently +$146 billion per year and rising at about 3% annually.

Now add 700,000 government civilian employees with compensation
totaling about $70 billion.

Add 560,000 contractor employees, whose compensation is typically higher than the career workforce.
We can also add hundreds of thousands of executives, managers, employees and
contractors of the three-letter Deep State agencies, such as the CIA, NSA, DEA, FBI, and now DHS,

And there are millions of retirees on government pensions who also need to be paid.

The U.S. is by far the largest contributor to NATO’s budget. In 2023, the country accounted for $860 billion spent by the organization, representing 68% of the total expenditure. This amount is over 10 times more than that of the second-placed country, Germany.

How is it possible that the US government can justify all this?

Helping others creating conflicts is one way. Ukraine and Palestine are the latest. What’s next? Iran, Taiwan, more Ukraine, more Middle East? The US military machine must go on…

The main problem with the Middle East deals is Israel doesn’t want a deal. It wants to expell or kill the Palestinians and steal their remaining land. The US is backing this crime with money, weapons and diplomatic cover. All the supposed diplomacy is just lip service designed to deflect.

You are Pilate, Rome’s governor in the Middle East. Your charge is to preserve the peace. You have many gods, and there is room under your tent for these gods. As Rome has many gods. Your subjects, the Jews believe in one god. No problem, because Rome has defined what is a religion: “It has to be old.” Judish existed before the Romans arrived. It was accepted by Rome. To be clear, the basic facts are that Orthodox Jews want most Arabs in Gaza and the West Bank to emigrate elsewhere so Israel can be a Jewish democracy, and Hamas (and most Orthodox Muslims) want for Israel to not exist at all so all of the middle east can be Muslim ruled.

Each side has yelled these perspectives from the rooftops for decades. There’s no good reason to pretend either will settle for anything less.

Regardless of who is right or wrong, it’s clear that the Islamists have been playing a long game.

The fact that, since 1948, they repeatedly threaten and provoke Israel, only to further lose territory and control, is obviously some idealogical strategy the rest of us don’t understand.

In the long term, long after every living Palestinian today has passed on, their descendents will get this tiny piece of land back. What a waste …

Why should American and Israeli hostages remain captives of Hamas?
Why should Hamas be allowed to re-arm and reload?
Who is going to prevent Hamas from reestablishing control over Gaza, steal the aid money and supplies, and pursue their stated goal of killing Jews?
Israel removed all Jews from Gaza in 2004, doesn’t Israel have better things to do than keep soldiers in Gaza now?
Why cannot Jews live on land their ancestors bought and paid for, mostly in the 1800’s, in East Jerusalem and the West Bank?

I believe Israel has on many occasions tried to come to a peace agreement with Palestine, going back to Arafat times. Yet were rebuffed at every turn. Israel has never actively targeted Palestine citizens, yet hamas has done exactly that. Their charter DEMANDS the eradication of Israel, yet the same is not true the other way. I think it’s a hot mess over there, and let’s be honest, even the Arab states don’t want to provide Palestinians land, or citizenship. We error quite often assuming other cultures share our beliefs and sanctity of raising our children, and freedoms… and then trying to impose our solutions that will not work. We need to butt out and let Israel and Palestine work things out, and if one side gets destroyed in the process, so be it.

Finally, this from your quote above just kills me. That ministry is part of the hamas propaganda wing…. it carries ZERO credibility… “More than 29,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel began its offensive, according to Palestinian health authorities, the majority of them women and children.”

The original UN resolution gave Palestinians 80% of the area, and Israel 20%. Arab governments responded to the commencement of the UN resolution in 1948 by invading to destroy Israel, and also seized territory that was ceded to Palestinians in the ‘48 Resolution. Numerous invasion by Arab, Egyptian, Syrian, and other armies failed and resulted in seizure of more of the area of the original UN resolution. Today, one-quarter of the original area that would have been Palestinian is now controlled by the Palestinian Authority (seen as thoroughly corrupt and bureaucratic by Palestinians) and by Hamas which refuses to negotiate any peace settlement, violated an agreed upon ceasefire with Israel with the October 7th pogrom, has never called for or organized an election after its initial 2006 election victory, and routinely violates the human and democratic rights of the Palestinian people. And yet you, you little Jew-hating fascist-wannabe see nothing but Jewish “genocide” while willfully ignoring the totalitarian behavior of the Hamas sock-puppet of Iran. Shame on you. Mish, I don’t agree with you on Israel, but you need to clean this barnyard up before this board goes to a bad place.

The barnyard needing clean-up is the fascist Zionist capital in Jerusalem. EuroHealth reports 50,000 civilian Palestinian casualties in Gaza since Israel initiated this repulsive genocidal holocaust.

Your post is the epitome of the double-standard that is applied to Jews (and to all others oppressed in this world). You have nothing to say about the continued historical slaughters visited on the Jewish people, including the first pogrom of the 21st Century. And then you have the blindness to refer to them as “fascist” and “genocidal” but nothing about Hamas or the “axis of resistance” emanating from the Iranian clerical dictatorship? How do you negotiate with an organization like Hamas that says:

From the Hamas 1988 covenant“The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”
From the revised 2017 charter“The establishment of ‘Israel’ is entirely illegal and contravenes the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.”
“Hamas rejects any alternative to the full and complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea.”
Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad“Everything we do is justified.” Oct. 7, he said, “is just the first time, and there will be a second, a third, a fourth.” Asked about the cost to civilians in Gaza, he dismissed what happens to them saying, “We are proud to sacrifice martyrs.”

— Oct. 24, 2023

Hamas leader Mousa Abu MarzoukWhen asked why Hamas did not build a single bomb shelter for civilians in Gaza, but hundreds of miles of tunnels for its combatants and weapons, he said, that defense of the population “is the responsibility of the United Nations.”

— Oct. 27, 2023

Hamas leader Khaled Mashal“We have nothing to do with the two-state solution. We reject this notion” because “you are required to recognize the legitimacy of the other state.”

Hamas uses its own people as human shields in a war it HOPES to escalate to the genocide of the Jewish and all others (Arabs, Bedouin, Palestinian, Thai, African, etc.) who live there. Wake up.

You should wake up. The contemporary colonial carnage in Gaza did not begin with the creation of the Hamas charter in 1988. Hostilities began in Palestine in 1948, after the ill-conceived creation of Israel – by unilateral United Nations declaration after six months of consideration. The state can be undone as easily.

If there were any “continued historical slaughters visited on the Jewish people” presently, I would have plenty to say to condemn the slaughter.

However, since there aren’t any . . . and in the United States and many other countries the Jewish people receive greater protection than any other ethnic group, I will continue to focus on the indiscriminate slaughter of civilians being perpetrated by Zionist animals enjoying absolute power in Israel.

“The state can be undone as easily.”

What else can be undone just as easily? Should white South Africans be “undone” as easily? What about citizens of the US? Should France return to the Romans? The Jews lived in the Middle East before the Romans even named the area “Palestinia”, where is that demarcation? Your concept of “colonialism” is based on some arbitrary moral chest-thumping that has nothing to do with how peoples form nations, but it allows you to pose in some kind of warped “revolutionary” pose that puts you in the company of Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other truly genocidal groupings and contemplating driving out or killing every Israeli in 6 months. In the meantime the 2 million inhabitants of Israel who are Arab, Bedouin, guest-worker Thais, Indians, Americans and others will be suiting up to defend an imperfect nation that has many more democratic and human rights than the petty clerical dictators living close to their bank accounts in Qatar. Wake up, brown shirt.

Considering the crisis IDF has with AWOL and draft-dodging conscripts, plus the Arabs and Bedouin being attacked and slaughtered daily by outlaw, illegitimate settlers, it seems unlikely and improbable that any non-zionists will be suiting up to defend the apartheid state Israel. Although not a fan of Churchill and his settler colonialist tendencies; I mixed it up a little and asked AI….What would Churchill say about this Topic?

The answer AI provided surprised me, and is as follows…..”Those who are Anti-Semitic when they are young, have no heart. Those who are not Anti-Semitic when they are old have no brain.”

I think AI should be reserved for college term papers, Phd Doctorate Thesis’s and Political speeches. This free thinking computer mumbo jumbo has gone to far.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry claims almost 30,000 people have been killed there since the start of the war. On Feb. 19 Hamas admitted that at least 6,000 of the dead are its combatants. Israeli army officials estimate that the real number is twice that.
Proof continues to come out on the complicity of U.N. staff with Hamas. Israeli authorities released a video Feb. 16 showing a U.N. Relief and Works Agency employee participating in the pogrom at Kibbutz Beeri Oct. 7, helping Hamas thugs load the body of an Israeli man into a car and driving off with it.

Proof of UNRWA workers helping Hamas has been completely discredited by U.S. and International intelligence and news organizations, like most of the Israeli lies designed to protect and defend the genocidal holocaust perpetrated since October 7. Jews have such low social intelligence that wherever they go they do not assimilate and they make themselves unwelcome. Jews were evicted from Russia after 1917. They moved to New York City and Germany. Jews were removed from Germany by 1945 and they moved to Palestine. If history is any guide the Jews will be removed from Palestine. Whether they leave head first or feet first is anyone’s guess.

Point of fact is that Jewish intermarriage is a regular occurrence these days, which speaks strongly to assimilation. This is not something that the Orthodox look kindly on. There are mainly three populations leaving Israel.

One are those who fear being drafted to fight. There is a subculture of similar people in every country. The USA faced it during the Vietnam years. Russia has faced it since it invaded Ukraine. Of course Israel is going to experience the same phenomena.

The second are those on the far left who are against war of any kind, even to save their own asses.

The third are Palestinians & Arabs fired from their jobs or fearing a lash back against themselves.

Remember that to leave country, you have to have somewhere to go, somewhere that will let you in. If you have dual citizenship, then no problems. If not, then you may be on a time limited tourist visa, hoping the war ends before you have to leave wherever you went to.

So all in all, your attempted ZING! falls flat on its face due to logical analysis, person who is too lazy to choose a post name to reply to.

Since nothing says social skills like depending on others to be controlled by you, in order for them not to bolt…..

“As to Israel, Jews will never again leave.”
They’re increasingly leaving already. It’s fragile as eff right now. A major reason for the completely unhinged response to Hamas, is exactly that more and more of specifically the Israelis which have options, have started to wonder if it’s worth it anymore.

Israelis are as far away from “having nowhere else to go” as one can get, these days. They’re not only welcome, but more often than not even courted, from all manners of places. It’s why the diehard Zionists/Nationalists are going out of their way promoting Israel as “Startup Nation.” And also why they’re; out of desperation more than anything; threatening to; entirely indiscriminately; carpet bomb anywhere withing a thousand miles of Israel: People with options don’t necessarily want to stay in a place, nor raise a family; where incoming rockets is a very real possibility indefinitely.

But nor do they want to be seen as part of a country hardly known for anything other than bombing and starving kids, peddling spyware, running around assassinating people and hawking guns to whomever dictator tacitly promises to keep his population destitute enough to not “pose a threat to the Israeli world order.” (but instead to meekly accept living under a permanent blockade where they can’t leave nor can hardly buy nearly anything …)

The Israeli population has an awful lot of strong sides. Jews sum total even more so. Chances are; near as many Palestinians lives have been saved by medical treatments pioneered by Jews, as has been killed by “military treatment” by Israelis.

But Israel will never be able to bomb the rest of the world into liking them. That’s just digging the hole deeper. And exactly the Israelis the country is most dependent on for their Utopian “Startup Nation” dreams, are the ones least likely to stick around for evermore of the obviously ultimately futile digging.

That the increasingly loudmouth Likud-; and further “right” fringe; -“base”, can be reliably counted on to rally behind any atrocity; ultimately doesn’t matter. Since those guys don’t really matter. A country positioned as precariously as Israel, more than anywhere else, needs it’s Best and Brightest. But those are exactly the ones the current path of maximal confrontation and tasteless selfrighteousness are threatening to drive away.

The red army was created by a Jew. Nikolai Yudenich, the czar best general, was a Jew. The Jewish population in Palestine, plugged in by Stalin, destroyed the 1000 years British Empire.

On Oct 7 the three states solution failed. Hamas fantasia gave Bibi a Causus Belli, a legal reason to strike Hamas. The IDF & 8200 bosses said : we didn’t know. Retired Israeli generals, the architects of a Palestinian state in Gaza, blame Bibi. For two weeks the air bombardment was relentless, while training troops for a new type of urban war. The IDF vacuumed Gaza city, carved it north and south, to prevent Hamas from sending weapons and new commanders north, bc Hamas wasn’t totally defeated.. Another dividing line might be erected north of Khan Yunes, in the narrowest area of The Gaza strip. Bibi is playing poker with Biden and Hamas threatening Rafa. He plans to dilute Rafa.
The situation is unsustainable. It was unsustainable in the south for 100 years, after the civil war, in Europe between 1914 and 49/1950 and in China for at least two hundred years.

Hamas has lost and has no choice but to capitulate. The longer they hide out in their terror tunnels, the more dead Palestinians there will be and the more responsibility for those dead that will rest on the shoulders of Hamas.

Regular Palestinians are getting upset with acting as cannon fodder and human shields for the fanaticism of Hamas.

Gazans take to streets to protest Hamas leadership, call out Sinwar and Haniyeh
February 20, 2024

Residents of Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip and Rafah in the south took to the streets on Tuesday night to protest against Hamas leaders amid the ongoing war with Israel. Since the beginning of the conflict, there have been several protests by Gazan residents against the terrorist organization, but this is still a rather exceptional event.

In footage circulated on Palestinian social networks, residents are documented calling out against Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, and against the organization’s political bureau chief, Ismail Haniyeh, who continues to live in luxury in Qatar.

The protesters also shouted for humanitarian aid, saying, “We need food, we need flour, Sinwar and Haniyeh, stay away from us, you thieves.”

Hamas pressured by Hezbollah to drop high demands in deal, Arab expert says
February 20, 2024

Hamas is reportedly being pressured by Hezbollah and mediators to drop high demands from Israel in a possible deal, Arab affairs commentator Jacky Hugi said in a Wednesday interview with Army Radio.

“Hamas is under pressure from home and abroad, one of them is Hezbollah,” he said. “In recent weeks, Nasrallah and his men have asked Hamas to consolidate and claimed that their demand to release hundreds of prisoners with blood on their hands is unrealistic, and Israel would not be able to comply with it even if it really wanted to.”
