Trump Wins South Carolina, Pressure Mounts for Haley to Drop Out

Donald Trump wins the South Carolina primary, defeating Nikki Haley in her home state. Trump cruises toward a rematch with President Biden.

Trump Wins all 44 South Carolina Delegates

  • Donald Trump: Decisive wins in the first major nominating contests have given the former president an air of inevitability. While his legal problems remain a major unknown, Trump said in his victory speech he was confident he’d defeat President Biden in November, “We’re going to say ‘Joe, you’re fired.’”
  • VP Talk: Those close to Trump say Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina and Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York are among the contenders to be the vice-presidential candidate.
  • Nikki Haley: The former South Carolina governor’s loss heightens pressure for her to drop out of the contest. But Haley has said she will stay in the race until Super Tuesday next month.
  • On Voters’ Minds: Most GOP voters in the primary have a favorable view of Trump, while more than half oppose continued aid to Ukraine, according to an AP survey.

Bullet points from the Wall Street Journal.

Trump on Scott

Please note Donald Trump Says Tim Scott Is Better Advocate for Him Than for Himself; Scott Agrees

As part of his speech Saturday, Donald Trump praised Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina – his former opponent, now outspoken ally and potential future running mate – as a great advocate. Scott endorsed Trump before the New Hampshire primary and has been a top surrogate. Trump again Saturday repeated that Scott had been a poor candidate for himself and improved dramatically when campaigning for the former president. “I said what happened to Tim Scott? What a dynamo… I’m just very happy he didn’t have the same energy, drive because I think I probably would have been out of the race a long time ago.”

Scott, for his part, told the Wall Street Journal this week that Trump’s comments were spot on. He said he had struggled in his own campaign to appear both humble and tout himself. “What you’re witnessing is just a guy who’s been free from the internal struggle on how to promote myself without being braggadocious,” he said.

Trump Victory Speech: ‘Get Out Joe, You’re Fired’

Donald Trump spoke to supporters at a party in Columbia, S.C., minutes after the state’s GOP race was called as another victory for him — not letting Nikki Haley pre-empt him and claim victory from a loss, as she did in some earlier states.

“I have never seen the Republican Party so unified,” he said. “This is a fantastic evening.” He ticked off familiar hard-line sentiments on immigration and the border, and projected confidence of turning to a general election battle rematch with President Biden.

If you are waiting for the fat lady to sing, she already has. Eyes now turn to a VP choice.

Please note Trump Says Tulsi Gabbard Is on His VP Short List, Who Else?

During a Fox News town hall event in Greenville, South Carolina, host Laura Ingraham asked the former president about six potential running mates, including three of his erstwhile GOP primary rivals: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott.

She also cited Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate who left the party in 2022 after aligning herself increasingly with the political right.

“Are they all on your shortlist?” Ingraham asked.

“They are,” Trump said. “Honestly all of those people are good. They’re all good, they’re all solid.” He also singled out Scott, pointing out the senator in the audience, saying “a lot of people are talking about that gentleman right over there.”

I believe Elise Stefanik is on the short list as well but her name did not pop up in that town hall question.

Tulsi Gabbard Gives a Fabulous Speech at CPAC 2024

If you want to hear a great speech you can find it along with my thoughts at Tulsi Gabbard Gives a Fabulous Speech at CPAC 2024, What’s Next?

I doubt Trump will pick Gabbard, but I think she would be a very strong choice.

The election is going to come down to how enthusiastically women, independents, and moderates vote, and for whom.

I think Gabbard is far and away the most likeable and she also offers the most for that group, especially given her moderate stance on abortion.

But I am not the one who gets to decide.

The probabilities of Trump serving a second term is low. I’m not unsympathetic towards his many rational thoughts regarding our present situations here in the US and our many entanglements in foreign lands, but our government is so corrupted and evil, that the CIA (or our so called justice system), will do their best to silence him, whether through outright assassination, or widespread manipulation of the vote (see Stalin’s prescient statement). It may be our fate to have 4 more years of an intentional careening into the destruction of our culture.

Agree with you 100%, let’s review some basic facts:

1. Joe Biden built a juggernaut economy with 3.8% unemployment and holding
2. The stock market is breaking all records
3. Inflation is coming down from trump highs
4. Millennials hate republicans and trump
5. Women hate republicans and trump
6. trump voters (boomers) are now dying at 5765 per day and count how many more have dropped dead from 2020 to Nov 4 2024

Trump’s failures:
1. Build a wall – did not deliver
2. Trade wars easy wins – did not deliver
3. Drain the swap – did not deliver
4. War on IVF and abortion has galvanized millennials and women against trump but don’t hold your breath, republicans will come up with more crazy schemes between now and election to piss off women even more, that’s how dumb they are.

I was looking over the 2020 election map and can’t seem to find any state trump could possibly win so how does he even get to 270 votes?

Anyone looking at reality understands democrats have easy wins in 2024 barring any major black swan events like biden getting a stroke or dying.

Solve how? by borrowing/printing money and then sending it to some non-democratic corrupt country that is thousands of miles away with a sham that it is for protecting America and then launder that money back to defense contractors, lobbyists, corrupt politicians and deep state bureaucrats in the US. People see the corruption, no amount of BS will convince people after repeated lies over the decades. These wars are just for elites to enrich themselves at the expense of American public. Fentanyl, meth and other synthetic drugs pouring from the southern border killing American citizens by thousands is the real national security. Gang violence in our inner cities killing hundreds of kids is the real threat to our national security. Millions of illegal immigrants putting strain on resources (Schools, hospitals/healthcare, housing, insurance, infrastructure) is the real threat to America. Not some cooked up war over some border disputes between countries should be our concern.

Mish, here is a set of items mentioned by Lavrov at a recent press conference. These are related to dedollarization which you want to dismiss.

  • The forming of a fair multipolar world order without a definite center and periphery has become much more intensive in the past few years. Asian, African and Latin American countries are becoming important parts of the global economy. Not infrequently, they are setting the tone and the dynamics.
  • Many Western economies, especially in Europe, are actually stagnating against this background. These statistics are from Western-supervised institutions – the IMF, the World Bank and the OECD.
  • These institutions are becoming relics from the past. Western domination is already affecting their ability to meet the requirements of the times. Meanwhile, it is perfectly obvious today that the current problems of humanity can only be resolved through a concerted effort and with due consideration for the interests of the Global South and, generally, all global economic realities.
  • Institutions like the IMF, the World Bank, the EBRD, and the EIB are prioritizing Kiev’s military and other needs. The West allocated over $250 billion to tide over its underling thus creating funding shortages in other parts of the world. Ukraine is taking up the bulk of the funds, relegating Africa and other regions of the Global South to rationing.
  • Countries that have discredited themselves by using unlawful acts ranging from unilateral sanctions and the seizure of sovereign assets and private property to blockades, embargoes, and discrimination against economic operators based on nationality to settle scores with their geopolitical opponents cannot be considered guarantors of financial stability.
  • Without a doubt, new institutions that focus on consensus and mutual benefit are needed to democratize the global economic governance system. Today, we are seeing positive dynamics for strengthening various alliances, including BRICS, the SCO, ASEAN, the African Union, LAS, CELAC, and the EAEU.
  • This year, Russia chairs BRICS, which saw several new members join it. We will do our best to reinforce the potential of this association and its ties with the G20.
  • Considering that 6 out of 15 UN Security Council members represent the Western bloc, we will support the expansion of this body solely through the accession of countries from Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

“Russia is selflessly taking care of the problems of the Global South through the Wagner Group.”

That’s not the issue. Rather, the issue is that even with a foreign policy built around Wagner Group; Russia is still not even close to screwing up every single spot on the planet, to nearly the extent the current West is.

That is a huge reversal from back in the Cold War days. And Americans now being so singularly indoctrinated they haven’t even caught on to that; despite nearly the entire rest of the world long since having done so; is just plain sad.

These days, in what is quite the reversal from 50 years ago; the leaders of the “Free” (if only in relative terms…) World, are two Communist countries! If that doesn’t spell #DumbAge loud and clear, I don’t know what does.

As a small government person, I’m for Vivek for VP. I like the idea of getting rid of the FBI, the Department of Eductaion and a 75% head count reduction in the Federal workforce. Just think of the boon for the coding industry!

The abortion issue is where it should be, at the States level. This is where the Constitution places it. Abortion is one of the stupid wedge issues designed to energize the rubes to vote. It is also a Democratic demographic issue. Abortion is all about culling the Democratic Party herd. In that regard, I’m all in on abortion!

“Get the Federal government involved in something and it gets destroyed.”

Yup. Up to, and including, governing.

The sole exception being the nuke stockpile. Despite the odds and the indoctrination, it does seem there remains enough latent sanity in people once they are handed jobs which are that obviously critical; that they rise to the occasion. For all the thousands of warheads, mounted to semi experimental rockets: Still no “accident.” And that despite guys like Trump and Biden nominally in charge…. And ditto, even in the former Soviet Union, now Russia: Even during the crazy 90s gangster era, no warheads went astray…

That one; highly critical; function, which I have a hard time seeing anyone other than the Federal Government being in a position to handle; they do seem to be able to get right. Thank goodness. But as for the rest of what they’ve currently inserted themselves into: Not so much.

Is TULSI TOO GOOD for Trump to want her in his Circle?
IF that is true, then I would prefer to see TRUMP as VP and TULSI as Pres.

Trump does NOT want a strong competitor at his side. His style is DOMINANCE. His EGO is TOO HUGE to allow for a LIMELIGHT SHARING situation.

HE WANTS THE FOCUS UPON HIMSELF, primarily. This is also what his electorate expects of him.

My bet is that he chooses a weakling like that Statue Zombie/WALKING DEAD Mike Pence. What a BIDEN LOOK-ALIKE Pence is, with that PERFECT POLITICIAN look that people seem to be drawn to.

Allow me to be perfectly clear here: I DO NOT VOTE, not yet…I have not been to a Voting Booth in over 25 years. I lost complete faith in our Government when the WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION meme came to the forefront and I knew of young men who came back from Iraq, die-hard Soldiers (sons of my Military Friends) and the words I heard from them included “Iraq is a joke” and “Why are we there still?” THESE WERE in some cases RANKING OFFICERS who saw ACTION but we at their screens sending our men to their deaths.

I have lost complete faith in our futures as Americans. We are clearly sinking fast. I am not sure ANY Pres can stop this mess unfolding and we are buying six months of Staples now and working on our Garden.

Poor Nikki. She deluded herself into thinking she had a shot after the New Hampshire result, likely with great encouragement from her rich Wall Street donors who just want to expend as much of Trump’s resources as possible. It became clear after she lost to None of the Above in Nevada that she has no chance, but she has already spent all her political capital & will likely be remembered as a failure in the 2028 elections so might as well stay on. She is probably counting on a Trump conviction at this point but that will unfortunately for her likely come after the republican convention so it would be too late.

This seems to be a sad truth for all political candidates. It goes to the influence AIPAC and the wider Israeli lobby on US elections. But as Col. If Israel is to have a future, it needs to be protected from its baser instincts. Unfortunately these base instincts are ruling the roost.

Totally agree that Trump has the GOP nomination locked up and Gabbard should be the nominee. Her selection politically will soften Trump’s misogynistic perception amongst moderate and conservative women that have deep reservations about Trump.

Biden will not be the Democratic nominee. Their convention will be determined by their Establishment wing and the power brokers within the party itself. Biden will resign before the convention due to health concerns.

Hamas is beating the IDF on the battlefield and in recruitment. Israel is winning the war against the unarmed civilian population. The IDF is bravely dropping 2000 lb bombs on hospitals and other infrastructure and bravely shooting kids in the back.

Mish needs to ban these Iranian sponsored posters. Maybe in some fantasy world Hamas is winning militarily, these Arab militias always get crushed by Western combined arms.

False. “Iranian sponsored posters” aka anyone who isn’t a supporter of Z10n15t 15raeLIE terrorism. Hmas doesn’t have to win militarily, the 15raeLIES, and their economy is in shambles and the normalization process is dead. What Arab militias being “crushed” by Western combined arms? Just like the Russians being crushed in Ukraine? You must be higher then kite. It’s not 2003 anymore, joker.

You’re more then welcome to take up the arse by Netenyahoo but don’t expect normal people to.

“I will keep fighting” says Haley.

She has no problem wasting everyone’s time, including her own. Or perhaps she’s delusional. Or narcissistic. Or both.

Or perhaps she is hoping that if Trump gets sentenced to jail, and doesn’t get nominated, she can be the lady in waiting?

Unfortunately, the Dems whiled away their time in bringing Trump court cases forward. Had they recognized the urgency necessary, he would already be in jail. Leave it to the Dems to screw up a slam dunk opportunity to remove Trump from the picture.

What was ever slam dunk about it? The Democrats are showing just how corrupt they are.

It’s called democracy. Staying on that topic, Putin would have won South Carolina with 90 percent plus. Shows what a WEAK candidate Trump is.

“Shows what a WEAK candidate Trump is.”

Well….

Just as surviving a bear attack does not require outrunning the bear, but only outrunning your hunting mate……

Trump doesn’t have to be a strong candidate. All he has to be able to do, is beat Biden…….

Ive watched a lot of movies and TV shows, and every day that goes by I see this national psychosis little by little disappear as we figure out truly what he is and what we think we want to be. He’s gonna be ruined by these civil judgments (he’ll never see jail). He’s becoming as befuddled as Biden himself. But the big question is, are there gonna be enough 60something aggrieved national socialist life-has-run-them-over white men and their wives to vote this guy into his dictatorship before they all deflate? Landline polls said Hillary was gonna win .. till she didnt …

Trump needs a Jack Ruby moment. That would be a fitting exit.
