The Pro-Peace Team Attacks Iran in Regime Change War to Benefit Israel

Glen Greenwald does a great job explaining what the war is about.

I interrupt this war with a word from the pro-peace ticket.

“Our president will start a war with Iran because he has no ability to negotiate. He’s weak and he’s ineffective.”

Trump Starts a Major Regime-Change War with Iran, Serving Neoconservatism and Israel

Glen Greenwald comments Trump Starts a Major Regime-Change War with Iran, Serving Neoconservatism and Israel

For decades, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and American neoconservatives have dreamed of only one foreign policy goal: having the United States fight a regime-change war against Iran. With the Oval Office occupied by Donald Trump — who campaigned for a full decade on a vow to end regime-change wars and vanquish neoconservatism — their goal has finally been realized.

Early Saturday morning, the United States and Israel began a massive bombing campaign of Tehran and other Iranian cities. President Trump posted an eight-minute speech to social media purporting to justify his new war, dubbed “Operation Epic Fury.” Trump’ war cry was filled with the same slogans and clichés about Iran that Americans have heard from the carousel of bipartisan neocons dominating U.S. foreign policy for decades: Iran is a state sponsor of “terror”; it is pursuing nuclear weapons; it took American hostages forty-seven years ago (in 1979); it repressed and kills its dissidents, etc.

As if to underscore how fully he was embracing the very foreign policy dogma he vowed to reject, Trump invoked the Marvel-like “Axis of Evil” formulation that White House speechwriter David Frum wrote for George W. Bush at the start of the War on Terror. Iran’s government, President Trump proclaimed, is one determined to “practice evil.” This is how Bush — speaking of Iraq, Iran and North Korea — put it in his 2002 State of the Union address: “States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil.”

Trump left no doubt about the scope and ambition of his new war. This will not be a quick or targeted bombing run against a few nuclear sites, as Trump ordered last June as part of Israel’s 12-day war with Iran. There is nothing remotely constrained or targeted about any of this. Instead, this new war is what Trump called a “massive and ongoing” mission of destruction and regime-change, launched in the heart of the Middle East, against a country of 93 million people: almost four times the size of Iraq’s population when the U.S. launched that regime change war back in 2003.

In lieu of outlining any clear mission statement for this new war, let alone a cogent exit strategy, Trump offered a laundry list of flamboyantly violent vows. The U.S. will “totally obliterate” Iran’s ballistic missile program (which Iran could not use to reach the American homeland but which Trump admitted last June caused Israel “to get hit very hard” in retaliation). Trump also promised that the U.S. would “annihilate” Iran’s navy. And he told Iranians: “the hour of your freedom is at hand….bombs will be dropping everywhere.”

Trump also attempted to prepare the nation for caskets and body bags of American soldiers returning to the U.S. “The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost; we may have casualties,” the President said. But, said the man who did everything to avoid military service including during the Vietnam War, mass death of American soldiers “often happens in war.”

In sum, Trump just launched the exact war that most of his MAGA movement professed to oppose. That included one of Trump’s most influential supporters, the late Charlie Kirk, who repeatedly maligned the neocons’ drive for war with Iran as “pathologically insane,” and warned that grave disaster of historic proportions would be the result.

The false claims behind this new war with Iran are ones we have extensively documented. In Trump’s war announcement this morning, he claimed — as he did at Tuesday’s State of the Union address — that Iran refuses to promise that it will not obtain nuclear weapons. The exact opposite is true: Iran has stated this clearly, unequivocally and repeatedly, and did so as recently as this week. “Iran will under no circumstances ever develop a nuclear weapon,” proclaimed Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

The consequences of this new Trump/Netanyahu war of choice cannot be predicted with any degree of certainty. Already, Iran has launched numerous retaliatory ballistic missiles at Israel, as expected, and has also attacked U.S. military bases in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.

But the lack of predictable outcomes is, of course, precisely the point. If the U.S. and Israel succeed in their stated goals of widespread “annihilation” and regime change, then they will create, at the very least, a huge power vacuum in the middle of the world’s most volatile region that will require U.S. resources and a sizable military presence for years if not decades to come. One of the world leaders most responsible for the Iraq War, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, admitted that it was the invasion of Iraq that gave rise to ISIS.

It is hard to overstate what a massive fraud Donald Trump, his campaign and his political movement are. For more than a decade, Trump has ranted and raved against the evils of regime-change wars and neoconservative dogma, only to launch a new war that most perfectly encapsulates and aggressively advances both. He spent years falsely warning that former President Obama would start a war with Iran because of how weak and inept Obama supposedly was at negotiation and diplomacy, only to now do that himself (rather than start a new war with Iran, as Trump predicted, Obama entered a diplomatic agreement with them which major nuclear bodies attested was effective in monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities: a deal which Trump, at Israel’s insistence, tore up in 2018).

Throughout the 2016 campaign, Trump mercilessly mocked Marco Rubio for receiving millions in donations from Sheldon and Miriam Adelson, money that Trump said would “mold [Rubio] into [their] perfect little puppet,” only for himself to become not only the largest beneficiary of Adelson funding in history, but to become the ultimate puppet of the Adelsons’ agenda, one which Trump has clearly acknowledged — when speaking in Israel last year — is an agenda that puts the interests of Israel atop everything, including Americans’ interests:

“I get her in trouble with this, but I actually asked [Miriam] once… ‘What do you love more? The United States or Israel?’ She refused to answer. That might mean Israel,” Trump says, smiling, while looking at the dual Israeli-American national.

And it is not an exaggeration to say — in fact, basic honestly requires one to say — that the 2024 Trump/Vance campaign is one of the most fraudulent political campaigns in American history.

Just one week before the 2024 election, Tulsi Gabbard proclaimed that “a vote for Kamala Harris is a vote for Dick Cheney and a vote for war, war and more war.” Conversely, Gabbard said, “a vote for Donald Trump is a vote to end wars, not start them.” Other than immigration, this “no-new-wars” theme was the most central to Trump’s political appeal and his political promises since he emerged on the political scene a decade ago.

In his novel 1984, George Orwell highlighted the dangerous insanity of war propaganda with this leading example: “WAR IR PEACE.” Yet that is precisely the rationale invoked by various Trump supporters to somehow depict this new war as aligned with Trump’s vows of peace (starting massive new wars is merely “peace through strength”).

This is, obviously, the war that Israel and Trump’s largest Israel-loyal donors most wanted and have long been pressuring him to start. Pro-Israel billionaires like Bill Ackman, long-time pro-Israel warmongers like Lindsey Graham, and Israel First activists like Mark Levin are of course already boisterously celebrating this new war against Israel’s primary adversary.

But this is ultimately an American war, one that Trump unilaterally started and for which Trump is responsible. Notably, of course, it is not Trump or his family, but instead everyone else in the world, who will bear the costs and burdens of the war. This was the point Trump famously emphasized shortly before the 2024 election — on November 1 — when explaining why Washington is full of sociopathic warmongers such as Dick and Liz Cheney who constantly start wars in which other people’s families, but never their own, must go fight and die.

As Trump’s senior White House advisor Stephen Miller said about those comments, “warmongering neocons love sending your kids to die for wars they would never fight themselves.” Indeed they do, Stephen Miller.

This new war against Iran is as pure a continuation of the bipartisan DC posture of endless war that has, more than any single cause, destroyed American prosperity, standing, and future over the last six decades at least. The only question how is how many people will die, for how long the damage will endure, and what new unforeseen evils will be created in its wake.

Charlie Kirk Flashback

The Neocons Get Their Wish

The new leader of the neocons is the peace candidate, Donald Trump.

You don’t get anymore 1984ish than this.

Also see US and Israel Attack Iran as Trump Urges Iranians to Seize Power

Regime Change? How? When?

WSJ: Ali Vaez, an Iran analyst at International Crisis Group, said the idea that American and Israeli bombing would trigger a popular uprising in Iran is wishful thinking.

“There is no modern precedent for regime change achieved through air power alone. Bombs can degrade infrastructure. They can weaken capabilities. But they do not manufacture organized political alternatives,” he said.

“History shows external attack tends to consolidate regimes, not topple them. Nationalism kicks in. Dissent gets branded as treason. Space for opposition shrinks,” he said.

Gold is trading at $5,450 (up $250) and silver is at $120 (up $25) in street markets in China and in tokenized markets.

I wish I had stacked physical but am glad to have a broad spectrum of mining stocks. Especially companies that mine in the US and Canada. Some in Mexico for pure silver plays.

Trump burned the MAGA movement. I won’t be voting Republican for sure come midterms and will sit it out. In fact, I don’t see a reason to vote. You either have the Democrats (who want war) or the Republicans (who want war). So, what’s the point? They’re not doing anything for the country just Israel and their donors.

I do hope the Democrats take Congress and get enough Republicans to impeach Trump. He’s dangerous to world peace. It would be poetic justice to this charlatan.

What is the incentive for Iran to negotiate?– twice they have been attacked during negotiations

Khameni dead? Is a dead 86 year old a crippling blow to a mature government? A multi-layer succession plan was already in place for all major positions

This is going to be a longer war. Iran is slowly burning up the Israeli missile defense stockpiles when one Iranian drone receives 10 missiles fired in defense. When the stockpiles are gone, then the Iranian counter-attack will begin in earnest

Only the dumbest people think that a spontaneous uprising occurs during a bombing campaign. And the new leaders will be as hardline as the old

The dilemma for Trump is the following: if Iran turns out to be an easy target, crumbling on first impact, it was never the threat that Trump and Israel made it out to be; they just lied to get what wanted to do all along; but if Iran turns out to be a tough nut to crack, the American public will sour quickly on fighting a war on Israel’s behalf. Either way, it looks like a stupid decision for the US.

His position means he can veto who can stand for presidential elections, the direction of the nation and the option of making war or agreeing to peace.

Price discovery for precious metals and other commodities is slipping away from our banking system. On April first, India will shift from quoting the LMBA price and start quoting the Shanghai exchange price instead. This is a stunning development as India is the largest consumer of PM’s and recently has allowed its giant retirement and mutual funds to invest up to 35% of their capital into PM’s.

In more tangible news, “First notice” came through on Friday the 27th on the COMEX and 51 million ounces of silver were claimed immediately out of an eligible delivery amount of 88 million ounces. That is 60% of outstanding contracts standing for delivery. Normally 5-6% stand for delivery.

Futures options holders are making their decisions over the weekend to convert to futures contracts and the balance of futures contract holders have not declared if they are standing for delivery. My guess is that over the month another 50% will stand for delivery and the COMEX will have the silver inventory to cover deliveries.

A critical number to watch is the deliveries to the COMEX and the conversions of registered vault holdings into eligible for delivery ounces.

Got mining stock shares? (Gold is trading up $258 from Fridays close on the COMEX and silver is trading at $108 as I tap on these keys).

Thoughtful comments or strategies appreciated…

China officially condemned the attack.

Yes, China always plays the long game.

In 2025, China added 250 mb of oil to its strategic reserves, which now total 1500 mb.

In comparison, the US has 410 mb in strategic reserves.

20% of the world’s daily oil travels through the strait of Hormuz. The strait has never been completely closed off. Any reduction in the oil flow will cause a short term spike in oil prices. A complete closure would quickly cause shortages worldwide.

In addition the Houthis have said they will resume attacks in the Red Sea to disrupt shipping as well. Though I do not know how capable they are at doing that.

I suspect that the worst will be over within a week, as Iran does not have much left to fight with. But I could certainly be wrong.

They will find a way to rigg the markets.
If margin calls don’t work all the gold paper will be paid in dollars at a good price for settlement. This will replace physical dellivery.
Banks will slowly onload the paper gold and silver, and that will push the prices up regularly.
If this does’nt work, you can count on the FED to help their shareholders(banks). That has already be done in 2008.

Technically a peace keeping action.

Under the U.S. Constitution, the President (POTUS) cannot formally declare war, as this power belongs exclusively to Congress.

While the President acts as Commander in Chief to defend against sudden attacks, they must seek Congressional approval for sustained military action under the War Powers Act

What you should be watching is Tucker Carlson and The Young Turks. These are both political opposite ends of the political spectrum except for two things:

  1. They reflect the views of the younger generation (i.e. non-boomers)
  2. They both recognize that the US being controlled by Israel needs to come to an end.

The ONE thing unifying both sides of the political spectrum for the young is the hatred of Israel.

Israel has won some short term gains with Iran but I predict it will come at long term losses.

Nostradamus in his many quatrain predicted a young man wearing a blue turban from the middle east rising and uniting Islam and unleashing hell on the world.

The Blue Turban King entered into Foix,
And he will reign less than an evolution of Saturn:
The White Turban King Byzantium heart banished,
Sun, Mars and Mercury near Aquarius.

ISIS wears blue turbans these days in some areas.

I only bring this up because Baba Vanga foresaw something similar in her visions of the future.

And we recently had the Saturn-Neptune conjunction.

It doesn’t really matter how many nukes a country has. The destruction from just one is far too much. An all out war is just mutually assured devastation.

Trump might be crazy enough to do it. However, do you really think the military would allow Trump to start a nuclear war? I do not know.

Number of nukes: Russia 5459, US 5177, China 600, France 290, UK 225, India 180, Pakistan 170, Israel 90, N Korea 50

Since China imports 70% of its energy, I kinda think something more is going on here.

Based on the most recent data from early 2026, China remains the primary destination for Iranian oil, typically purchasing between 80% and 90% of Iran’s total seaborne exports.

China was Venezuela’s largest buyer, but the flow is currently “crumbling” as the U.S. re-emerges as the primary destination for Venezuelan crude.

Well if the longer term goal was to do to China what we did to Japan in the 30s you’d want to start with countries that would never agree to stop selling to China. So far 2 down, Iraq turning strongly to the US and the Russian tanker fleet under sanctions.

Many of the rest of the sellers to China are directly under US influence and would stop selling if the US demanded it.

The goal is to trade oil access for rare earth access.

PapaDave

You haven’t been paying attention. The rest of the world has been working overtime to increase trade with each other because the US is no longer a trustworthy or reliable partner.

For example, up to 70% of Canada’s west coast oil shipments are already headed to China. Because, after all, Trump says we don’t need Canadian oil.

Or is Trump going to threaten to nuke everyone now if they don’t do what he says?

Trump NEVER does anything that doesn’t primarily benefit him or his family; and you have always been able to see that. Other than acquiring wealth, Trump’s primary objective is to put himself in the history books. That is what his Peace Prize BS has been all about. Get real. I’m tired of this BS. Why should anyone care about Israel when they are willing to kill women and children and write them off as collateral damage? Moreover, I would understand if many people wish bad things for the U.S. and its citizens, even though a majority of Americans did not want this war.

I’ve been asking myself lately : if a foreign leader decided to reciprocate and attack our decision-making centers using conventional force, would I be angry about it? Would I want to declare war? No, no I wouldn’t. I’d consider it fair play. I will never support this bastardization of America.

I can’t tell with you guys whether it is ignorance or hate. Israel is probably the only country in the world that sends messages to civilians that it is about to attack an area- – even though that puts its own forces at greater risk. You probably don’t know that Muslims view their life on earth as simply a preparation for the afterlife. What a Muslim wants more than anything else is to go to paradise. A Muslim mother can guarantee that she and her children go immediately to paradise if they are killed in an Israeli attack. Israel does its best, but will not lose its mothers and children because its Muslim enemies desire to lose theirs.

Some would say the end goal of the regime change/impirialistic wars isn’t to benefit any nation’s population (akin to voting in a national election). The label of ‘disaster’ is merely in the eye of the beholder. For example, Fed policy is a disaster for the general population, but a boon for member banks and insiders.

Depends on your definition of a regime change.

Technically we just got one in Iran with the death of the Ayatollah and many of the top officials.

If you mean a change in type of government (monarch to democracy type thing) then no we aren’t likely to get that. But we also don’t need that either.

In retrospect, Persia, Rome(modern day western countries) and Israelites have a fraught history, fighting wars and destroying themselves repeatedly. The first state of the Israelites in the holy land was destroyed by Persia and the Israelites were taken as captives, that was three thousand years ago. Then after a long time in the wilderness, they got back to power through Prophet David and Solomon. This second state was completely destroyed by the Romans after Israel rejected Jesus as the messiah sent to them. Now they have their third state in the holy land and we are watching a replay.

There is very little subtlety about Trump’s fraud. He is a despicable human being and a threat to the entire world as president. To all my republican friends, for years I have correctly characterized him as a long time Democrat and friend of Bill and Hillary, Roy Cohn mentored, Epstein compromised, snake oil salesman gameshow host who was selected, promoted, funded and marketed by his Zionist billionaire donors to do their bidding. He is an idiot who is given a script, often goes off script and makes a complete fool out of himself, mocking and insulting and creating division among Americans in a classic play of divide and conquer identity politics.

He was chosen to play this role-as well as for the specific purpose of destroying Iran-something the Democrats would never have been able to pull off. Without his billionaire handlers financial support he would have been completely bankrupt and a failure as a businessman many years ago. He was propped up and saved to play his role as a complete useful idiot for the interests of some very powerful people and interest groups.

I have warned repeatedly that this war would fail. I believe it is too early to tell, but for various reasons I believe we may have already lost. IMHO, this war will be the end of Trump. Unfortunately, it will likely have disastrous consequences for both America and Americans.

I think your dead wrong about this war being in the end of him.

He’s about to complete his 2nd regime change (after Venezuela) with his 3rd on deck very soon (Cuba).

If anything, after the midterms and the Democrat take over he’ll literally have NOTHING to do but start foreign wars since congress/senate may be democrat and not want to work with him which leaves him with nothing but foreign meddling for his final 2 years.

Until they chuck him out. Which given his polling, might just happen.

There’s almost no chance of regime change. We just martyred a religious leader, unifying a proud people who will fight to the death.

Awesome comment, absolutely correct.

Trump is a serious dumbfuck, elected by and representing an ignorant country.

The empirical cycle has now peaked for the US, and history has not been kind to cultures that transition from humility to believing their own bullshit.

The Iranians have claimed they have closed the Straight of Hormuz. This is gonna be one costly war for the American people. And who knows what will happen in the Middle East. Many of the Middle Eastern countries have large Shia populations

America doesn’t import oil from the middle east.

Besides, any closure will be VERY short lived now that we have free reign to destroy as much military infrastructure as we want. Expect any and all naval forces to be destroyed along with any missile site that dares reveal itself by launching anything.

The people that do will be happy to pay more for what we don’t.

You’re misinformed. Look at the topography around the Strait of Hormuz. Iran can easily control it. Even the mere threat of attack means that ships that attempt to cross are uninsurable, which means they won’t cross unless Iran has given them promise of safe passage.

Also, you have no understanding of global commodity pricing. Americans will soon be paying much higher prices.

Bab al Mandab Strait is about as wide as Hormuz. Iran has greater missile capacity than does Ansar al Islam, and the latter controlled the Red Sea pretty well. All Iran has to do is pop off a missile or two at any ships that defy their order to not pass and shipping will be untenable.

The saddest part? The 30 or so % of Trumpists will claim that this is precisely the type of “peace” they voted for. It is a new religion, no objective facts needed.
