Trump Too Vain for a Mask in Trip to Ford Plant

Trump repeatedly refuses to follow the advice of his own Covid-19 team.

The latest example came on Thursday as Trump Visits Ford Plant in Politically Crucial Michigan.

Surrounded by Ford executives wearing masks, Trump told reporters he had put one on out of the view of cameras.
“I had one on before. I wore one in the back area. I didn’t want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it,” Trump said. “Honestly I think I look better in a mask,” Trump added jokingly.

The company later said in a statement that the chairman had “encouraged” Trump to wear a mask when he arrived, adding that the President had obliged during a private viewing of three two-seater Ford GT sports cars but then removed the face covering for the rest of the visit.

When asked if Trump was told it was acceptable not to wear a mask in the plant, Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford said, “It’s up to him.”

Trump Threatened Michigan and Nevada

On Wednesday, Trump Accuses Michigan and Nevada of Vote Fraud.

Trump is annoyed that both states sent out applications to vote by mail.

Trump deleted a Tweet in which he accused the Michigan Secretary of State of fraud and threatened to withhold money from the state. In a second Tweet Trump went after Nevada.

I captured the Michigan Tweet shortly before Trump deleted it. To  be safe I took an image of the Nevada Tweet as well.

Whitmer commented “Threatening to take money away from a state that is hurting as bad as we are right now is just scary, and I think something that is unacceptable.”

Unacceptable is the wrong word. Trump threatened an action that would be illegal.

Trump’s threats did him no good in Michigan or Nevada.

“Trump visited a Michigan Ford plant but refused to wear a mask when on camera.”

When ever i have seen government officials on camera, such as the governors of California and New York, they have not been wearing a mask.

Masks are used on sick people. The CDC even said initially that wearing a mask will not prevent you from getting sick. Most catch the virus from touching a contaminated surface. You could have a 6 mile social distancing rule, and it wouldn’t matter, if you jump in an elevator and push a contaminated button.

I see idiots driving alone wearing a masks. Do they also wear a condom while sleeping alone (and these type of people should be sleeping alone)? Maybe, we should also not allow any cars on the road until we can go 14 days without a traffic fatality. Then only open with the speed limit cut in half.

This is the attitude of way too many who believe everything the propagandists say on TV and blog sites. Just like with gloBull warming, they think if they repeat a big lie enough, people will believe it. Are these BELIEVERS five years old? Wake up, it’s all propaganda / subversion –

Perhaps Trump understands that masks provide no benefit. Here’s a review of studies on the effectiveness of masks against respiratory diseases. One study shows that viruses are too small to be trapped by a mask filter, the rest show masks failed to provide any protection.

DJT does not smoke or drink, has no preconditions, and is tested constantly. Worker are not necessarily considerate by wearing a mask. They are being forced to do it as terms of employment, that is being unconstitutionally mandated. Patrons who think they are being considerate are nothing more than useful idiots / advertisers, who dutifully follow orders from power-hungry collectivists who could give two sh*ts about you. Wake up – https://youtu.be/QfvXwuZ-bok.

I’ve had MDs tell me that unless you can change masks frequently they’re a questionable practice.

  1. Masks do very little to prevent inhalation of bacteria/viruses: they’re just too small to be filtered that way. People wear masks in the operating room so that they don’t breathe germs into the open wound, that is, they redirect breathed air away from the patient, they don’t clean it at all.

  2. If your mask does pick up germs, every time you put it back on you’re breathing contaminated air.

For the second reason, the few times I’ve worn a mask is mainly for politeness, if it makes people around me feel better I figure I can take one for the team.

Not saying that’s why Trump didn’t wear a mask but even a stopped clock is correct twice a day .

RE: “Masks do very little to prevent inhalation of bacteria/viruses: they’re just too small to be filtered that way.”

I thought the idea was that the bulk of viruses expelled by coughing and sneezing are not individual virus particles but are many particles bound to much larger respiratory droplets that can be caught by a mask … and that that is especially true of catching those droplets from the person wearing the mask .. although I’d tend to believe that some/many people might actually remove the mask for a cough or a sneeze!

Good point.

The point I was trying to make, and I guess I wasn’t clear about it, is that once your mask is infected (from you or someone else sneezing/coughing close by), if you’re not changing it, you’re breathing in the germs/bits of droplets again. So, it could well be that they do more harm than good.

I’m sure wearing a mask doesn’t do any harm at all in stopping the spread of germs, although I suspect they make no difference at more than a few feet or in the open air, but that’s pretty much a guess on my part.

We know Trump is a clown by now. But the coverage Cuomo has gotten in NY is all based on false reality. Good job ? Check this out.

Two Coasts. One Virus. How New York Suffered Nearly 10 Times the Number of Deaths as California.

California’s governor and San Francisco’s mayor worked together to act early in confronting the COVID threat. For Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio, it was a different story, and 27,000 New Yorkers have died so far.

de Blasio did himself no favor here:

Since I’m encouraging New Yorkers to go on with your lives + get out on the town despite Coronavirus, I thought I would offer some suggestions. Here’s the first: thru Thurs 3/5 go see “The Traitor”
@FilmLinc
. If “The Wire” was a true story + set in Italy, it would be this film.

This is stunning. I’m not with either party but a Republican mayor and governor would be crucified by now. DeBlasio and Cuomo have failed the city and state of NY, respectively.

The article also mentions the possibility, some say fact, of different virus strains … and then nothing else about that possibly affecting outcomes.

But yes, the early false bravado of de Blasio (and New Orleans officials with Mardi Gras) was real stupidity.

I read somewhere that most of the first NY cases came in from Italy while most Cali cases were Chinese origin.

There is absolutely no way you can perform a straight up comparison between NY and California. If you had ever ridden the NYC subway or commuter railroads (LIRR, Metro North, NJ Transit) at rush hour you would understand. The number of daily commuter rides on the NYC subway alone is 4.3 million people -all packed in extremely close proximity during rush hour. New York City is not the place you want to be during a pandemic like COVID-19.

So shouldn’t DeBlasio and Cuomo have recognized the risk earlier ? Shouldn’t they have behaved more like Japan which acted sooner than California ?

thedirtymac

NY officials were too busy trying to show up Trump to take proper CV measures. Go watch Schumer’s “We’re not afraid to be here” speech at the Lunar New Year Celebration. And then when the going got tough, it took them two months to disinfect the subways.

Yes. They were myopic about impeachment in December and January. We know it is politics as usual in Washington. But DeBlasio and Cuomo are responsible for their city and state. Again the first job of any local or state leader is managing the highest risk items on any given day. Trump got criticized for ignoring information in the daily briefing he gets. While state level leaders in Ohio and California consulting local military officials, what was Cuomo doing ?

A reporter on The Today Show used the words “culture clash” (approximate) referring to those wearing (or not) masks. I’ve seen evidence of this first hand.

No mask = no big deal = I’m with POTUS

Its ridiculous that he won’t wear a mask when in a closed environment space with a group of people. I personally do not believe anyone should or needs to wear one outdoors unless they have the population density of a NYC sidewalk, etc.
