Trump was conscious in the immediate aftermath and pumped his fist in the air several times, attempting to rally the crowd, before agents escorted him away to the motorcade. The Secret Service counter assault team immediately took the stage in heavy armor to look for the attacker.

A video clip played on Newsmax last night shows two secret service agents on the roof top of a building directly behind Trump’s Podium. Both are looking through their rifle scopes in the direction of the gunman and appear to be ready to fire. In the foreground we see Trump at the podium still speaking.
Then AFTER 10-15 seconds, we see Trump go down behind the podium.
This morning there is a photo of the two secret service agents on roof at that moment in The Gateway Pundit with the heading “Watch The Moment Counter-Snipers Engaged The Attempted Trump Assassin”.
Now I’m not a security expert, but this seems to me to be a catastrophic failure on the part of the secret service. Why didn’t they take down the shooter while they had him in their sights until at least 10-15 seconds AFTER he started shooting and got off 9 rounds?

From what I can gather, the roof the shooter used had a slight pitch with an extended ridge at the crest. The shooter crawled up the side of the building (according to witnesses) and onto the side of the roof that pitched towards Trump. The SS snipers stationed on the rooftops next to Trump couldn’t see the shooter until he crested the ridge and fired a few shots. There’s a video circulating, linked below, that appears to show the SS snipers searching for something through thier scopes (Trump is speaking in the foreground), then the shots rang out from the shooter. This guy knew exactly where to go so he would have cover until he was in postion to take a shot. The 2nd link is supposedly a satellite photo of the venue grounds. The photo was marked up to show where everyone was positioned. The red buildings shown in the photo match those in the linked video.

The fact that the roof shown in the photo did not have active SS surveillance/presence is negligence/dereliction of the highest order. Whoever was in charge of the location assessment should be dismissed.
I just watched a good portion of the press conference with the PA state police and the FBI. PA state police indicated that the SS takes the lead in these situations. SS does the initial site survey. The shooter was located on a building that was outside of the security perimeter. I agree heads should roll over this level of incompetence.
I’d also note that a reporter at the press conference asked the FBI spokesperson “…law enforcement only knew he (the shooter) was up there until shots were fired…?” the FBI spokesperson confirmed that was his understanding.

Trump was scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, but that was delayed by the Supreme Court ruling on Presidential immunity. Two days later, Trump was hit in the ear by an assassin’s bullet. If the shooter’s aim had been two or three inches better, then Trump would be dead.

A single SS agent on *any* roof in the building cluster the sniper shot from would have easily spotted and neutralized the shooter. In fact, the two building clusters accounted for all high ground in the area, so why there wasn’t one person assigned to the building cluster the shooter chose is a complete mystery.
