MAGA Is Overrun by Scandals, Insane Nonsense, and Infighting

It’s been a very bad week for MAGA.

Insane Nonsense

One Thing We Learned

Fox News would be discussing this for weeks had Biden equated drug factories with nuclear weapons manufacturing.

Trump has clearly lost it.

Trump Feels Bad for the Men in the Rape Case

Trump seems to have forgotten there are more women voters and more independents who may be wavering than there are men who might be persuaded to vote Republican by this foot-in-mouth episode.

The Right’s No-Good, Very Bad Week

I’m not sure what the title of this post is supposed to mean, but please consider MAGA Is Having a Normal One

It’s not the best time to be a MAGA soldier online. Poll after poll shows that Democrats are massive favorites to take back a majority in the House of Representatives next month, and they’re increasingly viewed as favorites to take back the Senate as well. The Argument/Split Ticket model currently gives Democrats an 89% chance of winning the House, and a 61% chance of taking the Senate. Trump’s approval is now at -26 with likely voters. It’s hard out there!

Surely the online Right has cooked up some fantastic responses, right? What have the loyal patriots of the MAGA machine been doing as the electorate turns on them?

Far-right Twitter personality @Howlingmutant0 — best known for racist, misogynistic, and antisemitic jokes that have attracted the attention of followers like Vice President JD Vance — was stunned that after years of cultivating a fanbase of white nationalists, he faced a revolt from that fanbase after it was revealed he has a mixed-race child.

But hey! This is all just internet stuff, podcasts and influencers. Maybe right-wingers in office are doing better.

Jack Smith, the former special counsel in charge of investigating Donald Trump, was on the Hill this week to defend his scrutiny of the president before Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee. The title of the hearing was “Oversight of Jack Smith’s Abuse of Authority and the Targeting of Republicans and Related Matters.”

It all went south for Republicans during questioning by Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., whose inquiries about whether Smith attended an Atlanta Hawks basketball game completely fell apart.

The questioning was meant to somehow establish that Smith had improper ties to Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis, who indicted Trump in a separate state case over alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Schmitt is visibly grinning to himself during the exchange, revealing texts Smith’s staff sent about attending a basketball game.“I don’t think you know that we have this stuff,” Schmitt says smugly before accusing Smith of perjury.

What a bombshell But wait! It turns out that some poor staffer made a mistake. They either forgot that women’s basketball exists, or confused the Atlanta Hawks with the Iowa Hawkeyes, as Smith confirmed that he was actually at a women’s college basketball game between Maryland and Iowa, and nowhere near Atlanta.

The moment was so humiliating it spawned the first ever Congressional Surrender Cobra.

What makes the entire thing so funny is how utterly confident Schmitt was that he had a major, blockbuster scandal to reveal. It’s common to build a press strategy to try and amplify big moments in Congress. Right as Schmitt’s line of questioning was falling apart, conservative influencers were tweeting seemingly pre-prepared talking points. After the hearing, Schmitt had a recording of the Charlie Kirk Podcast lined up to celebrate his big win, and bumbled his way through it without ever acknowledging he got the only fact that mattered completely wrong. And Schmitt had, just that morning, been pumped up by Axios as a potential VP candidate for 2028. RIP to Schmitt’s VP chances (Born Sept 29th, died Sept 29th).

Things went no better on Pennsylvania Avenue: The White House deputy chief of staff posted a six-second clip that may have been thinly veiled QAnon signalling while the president tried to rebrand AI as SI (superintelligence).

Why is MAGA being overrun by scandals, insane nonsense, and infighting? This is what happens when a party is facing electoral disaster and knows it. The political media is having a field day writing article after article about Republican midterm panic. The war with Iran remains toxically unpopular, the price of gas is still high, and there’s little good news to focus on. Small wonder that the online right is collapsing into failed conspiracy theories, racist nonsense, and back-stabbing.

Trump Cheers Inflation?!

The Wall Street Journal reports Trump Says Inflation Could Pay Down the Debt ‘Very Rapidly’

President Trump said “certain levels of inflation” could help pay down the national debt “very rapidly” in an interview with Time magazine where he also said the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate policy is hurting the economy more than inflation is.

Trump accused the Fed’s rate-setting committee of acting out of spite toward him, twice accusing officials of “Trump derangement syndrome,” while sparing his pick, Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh, from blame for last month’s interest-rate increase.

Sentiment and Polls Say the Same Thing

On September 29, 2026, I noted US Consumer Confidence Plunges to the Lowest Level Since 2014

Views of the present situation and future expectations both declined dramatically.

Even more telling On September 25, 2026, I noted Consumer Sentiment Drops in September to Just Above Record Lows

Republican attitudes decline the most, but from higher levels.

Partisan Sentiment Changes

After particularly large declines in sentiment this month, Republican sentiment is now 20% lower than January 2026.

Oh, don’t forget Mortgage Rates Have Largest Weekly Gain in Four Years

Since February, mortgage rates have surged from 6.00 percent to 7.54 percent.

The implosion of MAGA is a stunning but welcome event.

That will make a change. If it happens, America soon won’t be in any condition to fight anybody. Can you imagine what that will do to all your spoilt city-dwellers, most of whom don’t know how anything works? They’ll be eating each other.

Both parties are pretty bad. The country has divided so much that the best candidate in the middle can’t attract enough moderates from both parties back to a national political middle. Election results are a choice of who will cause the least damage to the country.

The only reason a Trump was ever anything other than a joke candidate was because moderates had a long track record of self-serving and fuckups.

Maga may be losing it’s shine. But the US is stuck in a mindless game of my party must win at all costs… and a constitution that is increasingly unfit for purpose. Until that is sorted the US and by extension the rest of the world will struggle.

I agree. You need a period of rule by the soldiers instead of the priests. The simplest way to that is a military dictatorship. There is a risk that the soldiers will have a lot of stupid ideas, too, but you can’t go on the way you are, not in the long run anyway.

Let’s Not forget that BidenCO imploded with the Inanities of the Imbecile Democratic Left Lunatic Fringes including: 1) WOKE-NESS. 2) MY or OUR TRUTHS. 3) A brain-dead President (Which may well have been welcomed had they not imploded internally with their talking points.

Both Parties of course are unified in all of this. They decide how to manage the Switches every time we have a ridiculous Voting Cycle – – full of never-to-be-kept Promises.

The party leadership Heads are NOT at odds.
THEY ARE IN CAHOOTS.

This is why I only vote on local issues so I can say “NO!” to every bond issuance.

direct from MPO45V2: “And here’s a future prediction: democan’ts won’t be much better at accomplishing anything except bellyaching, grandstanding, and collecting donations from Israel.”

This. This right here. The alternative not only “won’t be much better” they WON’T be better. No need to couch it. We’ve seen it. We watched the sponsored border invastion and sanctuary cities and all the explicit and implicit, uncountable costs. We learned of the term “lid” never used before or since.

No, indeed we seem incapable of resolving anything, most likely because the enormity of the problematic debt mountain before us and the list of terrible choices all look like the 3rd rail. If and when the bond vigilantes come for their proper cost of insolvency and inflation the choices become far easier because there will be very few, all of them unpalatable and unthinkable at the moment. But they will come.

I suspect if one chooses to spend all of their day looking at every nitnad thing that’s bad it will be bad regardless of who or what is in charge. Makes for a good blog and comment section I suspect.

When the Democrats are in charge the media goes back to reporting lots of things, their populace assuming that all is good. That’s an upside. The nothing-to-see-here-move-along brings an interesting calm amongst the normally most agitated. Especially if they go a day without mentioning Trump’s name. When the Republicans are in charge we do get a closed border and less crime but wow do we see tons of the beast’s underbelly and rot, now reported by the media, because it really is disgusting what is going on in that deficit-fueled corrupt machinery.

And we truly are one of the greatest countries on earth. Amazing in reality. Especially if one reads the local and national news, you’d never know it.

When the Republicans were in office, the party of business fully protected open borders for decades. Since right around when the blood dried at the Alamo. Right now a ton of businessmen are peppering the White House with pleas to exclude their illegals from deportation. Cuban politicians from Florida are saying Trump and the Republicans have betrayed them.

Its not just Trump that’s “lost it”. First the Democrats and now the Republicans cover up for mentally incompetent members of the government including their head of state. The lack of progress on 25A by now should disturb everyone.

The fact that, as I type this, I’m actually shrugging my shoulders and muttering “whatever” to myself — that’s perhaps an even worse sign.

A junta of think tanks, warlords, and bankers call the shots, for any of them. Trump is the (more repulsive) bad guy to take all the attention and take bigger gambles as the regime gets desperate.

Both admins continued existing wars, started new wars, raised tariffs, increased sanctions, funded terrorists, kept as hostage the uncharged “prisoners” in Gitmo now in their 25th year of captivity, etc. I see a spectrum of increasingly bad changes to our trajectory, though — yes — a substantial inflection/acceleration for the worse with the new admin.

But the oligarchs picked him. They:
– used their control of prosecutors and the media to paint Trump as an outsider attacked unfairly
– sabotaged the D’s by preventing a primary challenge to Dementia Joe
– switched to kamala

Trump’s reelection was orchestrated. He was the oligarchs’ choice to take the heat while they pursued their think tank dreams.

“The implosion of MAGA is a stunning but welcome event.’

It’s not really that stunning. Trump’s first administration was a revolving door of people coming and going, nothing much accomplished. Trump 2, same thing, remember Kristi Gnome and the Dow 50000 lady? I lose track of all the clowns coming and going. Nothing much accomplished, certainly nothing that was promised.

And here’s a future prediction: democan’ts won’t be much better at accomplishing anything except bellyaching, grandstanding, and collecting donations from Israel.
We’ll get dog & pony impeachment show for 2 years and nothing accomplished. Some may see that as stunning others as I told you so.

We’ll get binary election cycles with zero outcomes until the average America is living as third world peasants. That will be stunning to many around the world but not me.

We have the best government money can buy. All politicians need to be tried for being a traitor. Until they eliminate all political donations and institute a one longer term only policy these parasites will continue to enrich themselves. By eliminating contributions they theoretically won’t be beholden to their money masters. By allowing only one term they won’t vote for bullshit they know is wrong but would vote for anyway because it will please the ignorant electorate that only wants free shit.

If you had a one-term only policy, it would probably swing the balance of power further in the direction of the permanent public servants and away from the public. Politicians have to learn their trade like anyone else, and the ones that keep getting voted in are usually the ones who are better at it. The longer they are there, the more effective they are apt to be, until they start getting old and sick.

People over-estimate the importance of elected politicians and under-estimate the importance of the people I call priests, who live by deception: the teachers, journalists, and judiciary. The politicians are what I call brokers, who live by standing between the government and its prey, the ordinary public. It is true that many of them do see themselves as priests and work in the interests of the priesthood. The priests are an essential part of government because government has a monopoly of fraud (as well as a monopoly of force). The brokers have a valuable role in drawing the government’s attention to things that need fixing, and providing a sort of release valve whereby the public can change a really bad government. (The people who really own the government – the teachers, journalists, judiciary, public servants, soldiers, and police – simply go on: they have security of employment.)

The public servants who are not readily identifiable as priests are also very important, but like the tax collectors and the secret (information-collecting) police, they are essentially secondary: a government simply can’t be formed without soldiers (who live by force) and priests (who live by deception). The other functions (administration, collecting money, collecting information) are things a government has to start doing as soon as it is formed.

As Americans, you probably have a garbled idea of monarchy as one long party in which the king “ate, drank, and was merry” at the expense of his suffering subjects. That was true sometimes, but there was a tendency for incompetent kings to have short reigns, while competent ones lasted longer. Soldiers (monarchies grow out of the military) are not worse people than priests; and the priests tend to multiply by their multi-level marketing scheme, which they call “education,” whereas soldiers do at least have a tendency to kill each other off.

While I know it was a bit of a distraction compared to all the other recent MAGA disasters, I admit I was obsessed by the Sen Schmitt debacle. Watching Katie Britt’s horrified reaction as she helplessly watched the unfolding trainwreck was by itself worth the price of admission. Admittedly I don’t know much about Katie, but if even she figured out you figuratively just shat your pants, proves that you screwed the pooch.

And seeing the idiot Senator trying to do lame damage control afterwards was hilarious. “I just ask questions!”

Good job proving that you’re Missouri’s dumbest Senator. That’s a high bar (low bar?) when you’re competing against Josh Hawley (he of the clenched fist on Jan 6 prior to cowering in the Capital Building, lest we forget). I’d never heard of Schmitt before this week but talk about ending your political career before anyone knew you had one. Well done, sir!!!!

I consider a lot of these “gotchas” marginal. Why? Plenty of people narrow-stream in an algorithmic news feed that reinforces the world they perceive. I guess this is a field test of the durability of the tendency to ignore things that don’t confirm their biases. The big new counter-force that might break through that is Iran-war-related inflation. It is screaming out of every price tag into everyone’s face all day. I get sticker shock every time I go to the grocery store or gas up. Its arrival was sudden and obvious enough to get through to the stupidest mind.

Biden tried the “everything is getting better, maybe not for you yet, be patient” tactic. But this is Idiocracy world already, so dumbed down and instantly gratified. It is a world Trump fed off of. Now it is biting him.

Interestingly, Charlie Kirk’s real rise to fandom on the right was that he was the guy who combined 3 different things: woke, DEI & CRT into one thing: woke. And while none of those things are anti-white, Charlie made his new improved “woke” decidedly anti-white. “Woke” let’s racists be racists without having to use the n word! All of which makes it very strange a year later she is recanting her story and now wants charges filed long after important times to search for evidence (rape kits) is past.

Back in the late 70’s and early 80’s when I went to college this kinda Cornell shit was commonplace. I had several fellow female college goers get gang-raped or raped while inebriated and leave school because of the humiliation and in one case a pregnancy resulted as well. Back then law enforcement was worthless for women getting raped while inebriated. Let’s not jump to conclusions and see what is uncovered, I’ve seen wealthy college boys get away with a lot of shit.
