Oil is spiking, stocks are down 2 percent, and the war in Iran resumes.
I love the Inflation
In response to a question about the CPI Trump responded “I love the Inflation”
Q&A on Inflation
When asked if he is concerned about the latest inflation numbers that came out this morning, President Trump responded, “No, I love it. The numbers were great. You know what I really love? I love the inflation.”
Trump keeps giving democrats sound bites for the election. “I love the inflation” is one hell of a sound bite.
And it’s in context.
Fresh Wave of Strikes Against Iran
The Wall Street Journal reports U.S. Launches Fresh Wave of Strikes Against Iran
The U.S. began a fresh wave of attacks on Iran Wednesday, launching strikes at multiple targets on President Trump’s orders, according to the U.S. Central Command.
U.S. military forces were striking air defenses and radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz, according to a senior U.S. official.
The Pentagon cast the attacks as an act of coercive diplomacy that were designed to force Iranian concessions at the negotiating table.
“If we need to negotiate with bombs, we’ll negotiate with bombs. And we’re very good at it. Nobody better in the world,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Wednesday afternoon as he visited Central Command’s Tampa headquarters.

Iran Has No Military
Truth Social: Iran’s Military is a complete and total mess. Much of it, like their Navy and Air Force, doesn’t even exist anymore – They have been completely defeated. Iran is all talk and no action. The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!! They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them, now they will have to pay the price!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP

I am sure glad Iran has no military. Otherwise, we would not have to worry about Iran shooting down Apache helicopters.
Apache Helicopter Shot Down
Truth Social: I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz. There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured. Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Since Iran has no military, did Israel do this?
Regardless, I have it on great authority we control the strait. That’s why we are attacking Iran.

Whose side is time on?

Trump has no military strategy. He’s just getting richer using his tweets to get shorts to cover. Today we were below the 7300 cta sell trigger, so of course he had to cancel his proposed military operation to make some quick bucks. Everything he tweets is to set expectations and then break them. He and Bessant are laughing all the way to the bank.
p.s- Trump likes inflation because asset prices go up and so do corporate ‘profits’. I think the Turkish stock market is the model he’s shooting for.
The Trump $250 bill is going to be called the Trumpeso
In China, “250” (二百五, èr bǎi wǔ) is a slang term that means “stupid” or “idiot.”
And in England, “trump” means “to fart”.
And then the mint will quit printing it, not worth the paper and ink.
Whatever Trump blathers about in public & whatever wars he starts are probably to distract from his Epstein issues.
But now his Watergate moment has finally arrived.
Wow, who could have predicted that electing a violent pedophile as President would plunge the US into another Watergate crisis?
Here’s Rep. Melanie Stansbury going over the issues:
https://x.com/Rep_Stansbury/status/2065062499532091710
Wow. Just like Watergate, its not the crime, its the cover up. Trump’s (and his criminal gang) desperation keep a Republican Senate just rose exponentially.
In this case, however, the crime is likely pretty heinous.
Stealth tax hikes in all directions: inflation, tariffs. Tax cuts for the rich in the BBB, tax rises for all others. I’m awaiting some sort of grand rug pull through the financial system, akin to the early 90s discount buyout of the Soviet Union by its elites.
We’re going to need Putin to become US president, then, to put a stop to that shit.
Higher COLAs to bankrupt Social Security sooner.
If we think oil.gas.food prices are high now?
Just wait till there is a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. With water temperatures rising in both the Pacific and Atlantic basins, it looks like we have the potential for devastating storms.
The current prediction for the quickly developing El Niño event is that it will cause wind shear and protect the gulf and coastal Atlantic states. IMO the El Niño will be stronger than previously experienced (+1.8 F) and the models may not have it right.
If the Pacific currents get +2.0 degrees above normal ~ all Atlantic and gulf costal areas of the US are in play.
Even California and the desert southwest could have strong effects. MIsh has no doubt experienced what it is like when southern Utah gets >2″ of rain.
Elections have consequences.
And just wait till all the immigrants are kicked out, the population continues to age with more leech socialists and Trump finds a way to screw over the average American right before he leaves office as a final FU to everyone.
If you were $40 TRILLION in debt (and counting), you would “love the inflation” too.
There’s one slight problem: interest rates go up. This admin has been moving to shorter and shorter terms of borrowing, meaning they must roll that debt over sooner. The time to do that to long term, was back in the days of near-zero rates. Opportunity missed, on a fateful, historic scale.
A government incompetent enough to rack up $40 trillion in debt cannot be expected to competently manage that debt burden.
And corrupt. This country is run by very corrupt special interests and at all levels of government.
My inflation is biglier and beautifuler than Obama’s and Biden’s combined! Take that, libs!
Here’s a bucket of tears to use for ice cubes in your mint julip
You might want to look at an inflation graph before you make any more stupid remarks like that. The TDS on this site is terminal – and I don’t even like the Donald or his inflation. But Jesus, are you people sentient? Do you remember 2022?
don’t ever tell him your military plans, and sure, tell a country like Venezuela they’re his bitch…
8:22 am today
The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT. At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP
“we will be sending out goyim to die on Kharg Island – if they don’t die first just trying to get there.”
President of the Epstein Empire Says, “I love the inflation.”
Bone Spurs Orange Jewlius Trumpenstein Moloch, member of the Epstein Class and President of the Epstein Empire, could not care less that the your savings erodes away into oblivion as these criminals inflate away the Epstein Empire’s obscene debt. It could be no other way in the Age of Epstein.
Basically he is saying my rich friends who have invested in the oil business in the US are doing just fine on the backs of ordinary workers who commute to work on a daily basis.
Thats pretty much the republican party motto in a nutshell. Least those who control the party. Its the reason they have to focus on culture wars / propaganda / conservative media and such to continue to dupe their voters into electing them. They are pretty close to not needing their voters anymore. Trump is pretty much the secret out in the open.
it’s ridiculous how too many people still don’t care. it’s another one of “if anyone else said it everyone’s head will explode.” one lesson here is flooding the zone absolutely works. this is not a good thing.
Sports, gambling, bread and circuses. The casino grows until it engulfs the economy, and all of us.
It’s not that people don’t care. It’s that they see people getting shot in public for caring.
The radical left liberals are concerning their empathy and compassion for those who aren’t racist pedophiles.
The supposed opposition wastes its time with things like the “No Kings” rallies, which are unfocused and without any specific actionable demands. It’s almost like they were designed to let people blow off steam without imperiling the Greater Israel project or US hegemony.
Trump’s behavior increasingly resembles that of a toddler. He sees himself as the center of the universe and demands the world conform to his beliefs and wishes. His “negotiations” with Iran are a good example. He seems so certain that an agreement will conform to his demands and be completed in 2-3 days. His confabulations are his reality. Iran has no agency. When reality intrudes he blatantly lies and lashes out in anger.
It difficult to know if his recent behavior is due to advancing senility or to personality disorder. After all, this is the man who insists, and probably believes in a grand conspiracy of “vote rigging” against him in 2020, and that he has settled multiple global conflicts and deserves the Nobel Prize.
Its sad, but dementia in a man Trump’s age is not surprising. What is very surprising is the acquiescence and servility of his advisors and Republicans in Congress. Trump is increasingly unhinged, and a danger to the US; its service members, its citizens, its economy, and its global standing. Republican’s cower before Trump and even ignore self interest; their reputations and political futures.
Trump’s mercurial behavior is a clear and present danger to the United States. Who will be the first in Trump’s party to choose country over party and stand up and shout “the emperor has no clothes”?
Trump’s behavior has always resembled that of a toddler.
FIFY
Now, a senile toddler.
Exactly. His mental capacity is qualitatively different than several years ago. See Robert Barnes quote below. It’s one thing to bullshit others. It’s another thing to bullshit yourself, believing things that aren’t true and disbelieving things that are.
It will certainly be very interesting to see what happens after he’s gone, & whether there will be any kind of reckoning for all his enablers – I’d like to think that there would be some kind of rational reappraisal, but I expect it will be something chaotic & unpleasantly dark; I’m just very glad to be an ocean away from it all.
Interview with Robert Barnes:
Barnes: Well, first I should say the ceasefire happens and then Lebanon as you point out now but also all the way back then [Israel] immediately breaches it. In fact, they you they escalate right after the ceasefire is entered into. And first people thought, oh they’re just doing that to try to get everything out before they have to really shut down with the ceasefire. No, they were doing it to completely undermine the ceasefire.
So in response the Iran said, “Well, we’re not fully opening up the Strait” Then the and then Trump said, “Okay, I’m keeping the blockade in.”
Then the deal is, there’s an announcement of a ceasefire. Iran announces the Strait is open.
And Trump decides to confabulate in his brain literally, just make it up that, oh really they’ve agreed to give me all their nuclear materials and they’ve agreed to all these things they didn’t agree to. And so Trump blows it up. Trump says oh, all throughout this the Iranians are playing us. No, it’s Trump playing everybody. The Iranians have been straightforward through the whole negotiations. Everybody inside the White House knows the guy that’s that keeps tap dancing around this is Trump himself.
So then Iran was like, “Okay, we’ll reclose the Strait.” And since then, at least six times, that original deal has been put back into force with just Iran demanding a little more each time. Like, okay, if you’re going to breach it, then we’re going to have to demand you pay a higher price before any good conditions get met….
Trump hits the panic button and he sees all this criticism from the Israel lobby because he obsessively watches Fox News.
He hears it, you know, from the donor class and from senators like Wicker and Graham and all those lunatics who he likes to listen to for whatever reason. And he chickens out over and over again.
And people always assumed he would chicken out in favor of the markets. Instead, he doesn’t. He chickens out in favor of the Israel lobby. He’s so intimidated and afraid of criticism from that crowd that he decides to make what was likely an accident if it was anything. The idea that a drone attacked and was was targeting a helicopter that was flying however high in the sky and the only two people on board come out completely unscathed. Sorry, that doesn’t happen….
So he immediately goes back in and starts escalating again. And in the in his confabulated mind, when he emotionally decides for psychological reasons, he needs to do something that’s just plainly stupid. Keeps saying, “Every other president before me has been stupid.” But and that’s how Iran has played him.
No, every other president before Trump has not been as stupid as Trump. He’s going to go down as the dumbest president we’ve ever had in his second term as as well as the most corrupt in American political history, which is saying something uh in the recent era. Trump decides to go back in and reescalate, and he’s talking about doing it again today….. When you can’t do either one of those deals, you’re literally deal incapable….
That’s why Joe Kent, I and some others with friends and allies on the anti-war side in the administration have been advocating from day one, just get Trump to get out.
He’s never going to do a reasonable deal. He’s not capable of doing a reasonable deal because he is so fear riddled.
This is why I keep telling people he can’t make a good decisions. His decision-making process is completely broken. The Trump, anyone has known from any time before, is gone.
It’s just gone. And so he’s he thinks like a toddler, like it’s two-year-old level thinking. And the consequence of that is what he will do is he will convince himself that the bad thing can’t happen. So when he when he changes direction for emotional reasons, he then rationalizes his decision…
He’s driven entirely by fear. Fear of humiliation, fear of embarrassment, fear of comparison to Obama, fear of criticism from the Fox News crowd and the Israel lobby, fear of being humiliated on the global stage if Iran actually does develop and show off that they have nukes. It’s just fear, fear, fear, fear, fear of getting so crushed in the midterms that he gets impeached and removed from the presidency. That’s all that’s motivating him. But whatever short term, whatever fear short-term dominates, he rationalizes and excuses and justifies to himself that the other fears on the other side of the ledger will never come true. And it takes massive efforts to break through to him.
That’s also why you see him flip-flop within a day, within a minute, within an hour. That’s different emotions, different fears dominate at different times. In my view is their best hope for the US, the world is a Trump exit not a Trump deal because he’s not capable of a deal.
But hey, there’s gonna be a ring-match at the White House!
“He’s driven entirely by fear. Fear of humiliation, fear of embarrassment, fear of comparison to Obama, fear of criticism from the Fox News crowd and the Israel lobby …”
For a severe malignant narcissist, humiliation is worse than death. Mish thinks Trump is going to have to take Iran’s terms in a deal. I have been thinking that he can’t do that because of the humiliation, so he’ll just walk away. Now I think that’s wrong too. He’ll just keep up some level of killing Iranians until they start destroying the middle east’s oil infrastructure in retaliation. And the world’s economy will collapse. But, hey, he doesn’t have to run again, and he just has to keep enough Republican Senators to keep from being impeached. And he can always say “no other President has been strong or great enough to destroy the world to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon!”.
So strap in for the ride. Voting has consequences.
If he makes $5BB on rigged crypto and stock trading, then crashes asset prices, he can double or more his purchasing power. He sees this as “100% a win for him, and F everything else” how is this not plain as day to all?
The Fox cloud is literally running his agenda and providing his script.
Zero chance they will turn him off as spokesperson for Israels best interests.
First completely postmodern president completely detached, un-anchored from (what we used to call) reality. It is like the phrase “reality TV,” as fake as professional wrestling, but improvised like stand-up comedy. At moments I can see it as viciously funny, hubris and nemesis as slapstick.
Apologies to MISH: I’m not paying close attention to your site every day but I’m OK. I do understand humor very well, so thanks for noticing the change. Can’t find the password to check right now but I will reply tomorrow if you do contact me. No real need though. Thanks for noticing my different state of mind and seeing me as a person and not a random poster. DJ
After waking up, I made the decision this last post is really my last post. In so many ways I have a new life now and this site did not define me. I realized, the people on this forum are not my ‘true friends’, lol. They’re online friends. There’s a difference.
So if anyone really wants to “know my story” they can look at years of my past comments. I made a lot of them. I’ve always been true to my core beliefs though. That’s all I really have to say. I will leave it at that.
Except. Thanks for the time we shared together. Including the time of Mish who made me feel like I was on a newsgroup again in the 90s. I always listen to dissidents. They’re the ones spreading the ‘truth’. It’s been fun, but I gotta go. Bye everyone, it’s been a good ride!

What’s next? “I love torturing cats!,” maybe? It’s becoming more and more puzzling why 35 percent of Americans still approve of a president that is obviously not functioning.
It ain’t puzzling that evil people approve of the evil orangutan.
Trump gave them a great chance to vent all their repressed hate and aggression. At last their fantasies of being smart and powerful and victimized were confirmed.
Trump has said that he loves the poorly educated and that smart people don’t like him. So, that tracks.
Support for BB / Israel is deteriorating in US and Europe.
Time to activate the Mossad sleeper cells to distract people creating Monster Muslims / Blacks and civil unrest.
you’re brainwashed please seek help.
37% of Americans still support Trump. It is the country not just the man that has lost its moral fibre.
Trump is doing the world a great service in highlighting this and encouraging everybody to decouple from the US.
For goodness sake, the place was built on human bondage. We haven’t lost our moral fiber; it’s been a 250 year struggle to find any.
Look at photos of white adults screaming hate at black children trying to attend desegregated schools in the 20th century… That is weaved into our “moral fiber.”
It’s hard to be shocked any more. It’s the same kind of people it has always been. They just got a guy out front for once to remind us they’re there, hating.
Good point. After WWII, Europe decided that it was an unfair contract that you demand people die for you without providing free healthcare etc.
The US decided that the right of the individual to compete with his fellow citizen was way more important so didn’t go down the same path of creating a welfare state.
I visited the war museum in HCMC/Saigon last week and you are right, America never developed that moral fibre. Truly disgusting.
Even going back to the start – the original settlers were much more interested in preserving centuries old religious doctrine than moving to a genuinely moral code. So whilst the US is seen as innovative, it is stuck in a very old view of how to measure society’s progress.
“The US … didn’t go down the same path of creating a welfare state.”
I am sure everyone will universally accept that objective assessment. Not saying I do or don’t. Just /s
What happened after WWII was the competition with the Soviet Union. The West had to offer a better deal, lest the masses decide to start putting oligarchs’ heads on sticks.
Now that the Soviet Union is gone and there is no meaningful alternative, the oligarchs want to renegotiate the deal.
The welfare state was created by elites in German and Japan who saw the big teams and team fights of the 20th century coming. It was realized that wars worked better with reasonably fed and educated masses, to be soldiers, factory workers and moms. So the elites temporarily promised more to the masses.
Japan never had a welfare state, per se.
Germany has had socialized medicine since 1888 or so.
this is a bit much. slavery was happening here along with the vast majority of the world. it’s true the US keep tit after much of the western world abandoned it but ultimately it was done away with at a greater cost that any other country that abolished slavery. it was done with and by those in power.
segregation and lynchings was not happening in all of the US, more half the country was against it.
there are many places where slavery is still rampant, in Africa, and in places like SE Asia where poor families sell kids into prostitution because they can’t afford to feed them (thailand, for example).
the only thing the evidence points to is that our moral fiber is change for the better over time, but in a two forward one back fashion.
👆🏻 Lack of moral fiber 101.
No, American style slavery was not the norm in “the vast majority” of the world.
Even now we tell each other “Well, the third world may be facing famine events due to Trump’s war of choice, but at least all we will have is annoying higher prices.” Where is our valuation of the rest of the world if not in the F them category?
Taco is so deranged and out of his mind that he probably believes inflation is good, especially as he reviews his rapidly rising net worth due to his inside trading and no telling what other ways he is accumulating taxpayer monies.
There’s telling alright, like the $10BB transferred to his Peace Board, guess who unilaterally controls the unrestricted disposition of those funds? Actually, nobody with an IQ higher than a potato needs told who it is.
I told you that here, eight months ago. Trump’s goal is high inflation, low interest rates. He is one of the debt based parasites that now dominate the financial system. They buy real estate with low interest debt then inflate their debt away. They not only pay no taxes, but get huge tax credits, for being a leech.
right it’s what he has done all his life. it’s automatic. take too much debt to overbuild casinos, lie about hte true state of the financials, and all the while milk the companies and then declare bankruptcy which hurts others not him. then do it again because you have some magic charisma that convinces people it’ll be different this time.
If Trump loves inflation, then he will be very happy when oil, gasoline, and diesel prices go up over the next few months. We are rapidly running our storage levels down.
Cushing Inventory Levels in millions of barrels
May 1, 29.12 mb
May 8, 27.42
May 15, 25.82
May 22, 23.02
May 29, 22.44
Jun 5, 21.64
Once Cushing falls below 20 mb, it restricts tank transfers and blending operations. Below 18 mb, is the functional outage level. Outbound flows to Midwest and Gulf Coast refineries slow or stop. Then refineries have to throttle production.
Weekly SPR drawdowns for the weeks ended
May 8, 8.6 mb
May 15, 9.8 mb
May 22, 9.1 mb
May 29, 8.0 mb
Jun 5, 7.9 mb
SPR level is down by 66 mb so far from 414 mb to 349 mb. There is a risk of the caverns running into collapse issues below 300 mb. Though since we have never drawn them that low, no one can say for sure. We will be watching what happens since we are supposed to draw another 106 mb under Trump.
Oil exports have increased from 4 mbpd in February to 5.6 – 5.8 mbpd now. Or from 28 mb per week to 40 mb per week. An increase in exports of 12 mb per week. Which is mostly coming from the SPR (9 mb) and increased production. US oil production has increased from 13.4 mbpd to 13.8 mbpd since February. That adds 2.8 mb per week.
I just need the strategic reserve to last through the boating season. Say, mid-September.
If you stormed the Capitol on J6, Trump may be willing to rearrange the USA’s priorities in order to guarantee your vessel safe passage on the open water through Christmas.
Fortunately, I had better things to do that day. Also fortunately Trump’s $1.8 B fund for the purportedly-unjustly-prosecuted has been shot down. I suspect it was actually for Kushner and Trump’s sons.
Why would Trump share that money with any of those heels? It’s his.
The goal is a national emergency by election day.
That has worked well for Naziyahoo
Ding ding ding nail it.
Logically I completely agree with you. Still the Oil price is still yawning and at the moment after exchange of fire between the two sides we have the WTI below 90$. Iran has said that Hormuz is now totally closed. The Financial Times has written yesterday that 15 ships per day (it was 135 before the conflict) were crossing the strait (in and out) every day via the Omani route, which has helped in total 200 commercial ship to do that and delivering 100 mln barrel to the market. In support of that Kuwait has auction new barrels from the first time from the start of the war. Would this information change your initial timeline about when the oil could spike as also predicted by Exxon vice president?
“ Would this information change your initial timeline about when the oil could spike as also predicted by Exxon vice president?”
Yes.
At this point, it’s not a question of IF, it’s a question of WHEN we will see tank bottoms. The oil executives gave their best estimate. It may take longer.
Oil is the lifeblood of the global economy. Desperate measures are being taken to maintain its supply. And in spite of these efforts, we see US and global inventories dropping every week.
I see no reason to be optimistic that the declines in inventories will stop anytime soon. And I expect oil price volatility to continue.
All I can do is continue to take advantage of that price volatility while waiting and positioning for the inevitable tank bottoms.
The TMX pipeline to Canada’s west coast export terminal has added the final 72,000 barrels per day to reach its 890,000 bpd max capacity . Demand is so great that they will use extra anti drag agents to expand capacity by another 90,000 bpd.
China is currently taking 200,000 bpd of those exports and Korea just signed on for long term delivery contracts as well.
That adds a bit more to global supply.
Did you see Eric Nuttall posted experts he talked to believe if gas hits $5 good chance there will be an export ban put in place? I don’t understand how that would be helpful to us since we can’t refine light crude.
Also, it would augur poorly for future domestic oil production if US producers are prohibited from selling their product into the global market.
Now you know why we had to take Venezuela.
“had to”
We had that under the cater admin. Until well remember the slogan fracking for american energy independence. Then the republicans voted to change the law.
Dont see it happening and even if it does it will still be priced to global .
I defer to papa d if im wrong
Yes. We are currently exporting 5.6 mbpd of our light crude, which isn’t what our refiners are designed for, and we import 6.5 mbpd of heavy crude, which they are designed for. If we ban exports of light crude, we would have to shut down 40% of our current shale oil production once we refilled all our storage.
And as Trump says, after that, our pipelines and oil fields would blow up in 3 days. LOL
As a rich orangutan, he hates the poor, that’s why he loves inflation.
How many billions did Obama give to Iran to stop them trying to build nukes? Now, how much blood and treasure has Trump spent to do the same thing???
He hasn’t achieved it, and he won’t. It’s all for nothing.
Trump has forced Iran to obtain atomic weapons. Hopefully they’ll have them soon if they don’t already.
You are a moron…
Iran sent the United States $400,000,000.00 in advance for the purchase of weapons. They were never delivered. We kept the money. During the negotiations the evil Iranians had the nerve to actually say the US should give it back. Unfortunately we didn’t have the artist of the deal there to say, “That’s our money you stinkin’ Sand N_____rs.”
Those looking for an exit wont find it now, for Iran will see this through till they punished those that started this suffering (likely huge financial and production losses) that is felt around the world (my guess is December of this year or by summer of next is when Iran may consider coming to the table).
Trump has fully lost control of this now, and that will be empowering to Israel who is eager to do whatever it takes to gain control back and have a real chance (at least in the eyes of Israel) at vanquishing a long standing enemy.
That said, if you thought the latest CPI numbers were bad with a 7% increase in gas prices in May and a 5.9% increase in electrical power you’ve seen nothing yet.
Donald Trump has claimed that a “deal” with Iran was just about to happen at least 38 times since he started the war.
I bet the trick to halving energy costs is doubling them first.
LOL that’s some trick! Serious Red Queen vibes! From the Orange Queef.
He said he would cut them in half in his first twelve months. He already can’t do what you said but it was a good thought for sure, he would try that.
Here’s a better musical tribute for today’s events:
https://youtu.be/hZsDH2EgHgk
Bring back Sleepy Joe and that Bideninflation…lol! It won’t matter, we’re beyond the Rubicon here, nothing left but to exit or learn to live with suffering. Ah, the simple choices in life.
This post awarded a 2-star Mishelin award.
I do not think Trump knows he does not have escalation dominance….this is going to end very badly
He’s a fool if he thinks backing Iran into a corner makes their response “nothing”. They will strike out and destroy *everything* in the region. No oil for anyone, anywhere.
Professor Pape is killing it, along with Mish.
The goal ever always only was to turn Iran into a failed state.
Imagine how bad things would be had we not elected a Peace President.
Here’s my guess at what is going on, just based on the personalities.
Trump can’t get Iran to ‘sign the paper’. The helicopter downing was or was not an accident, but Trump is incapable of not responding. It’s not in his nature, he has to be “STRONG” at all times. Every time he talks, he throws adjectives like that out – we are the STRONGEST, HOTTEST, BEST LOOKING, etc etc etc.
So now he’s escalating again and Iran is unwilling to not counter his counter with more strikes. How far will it escalate? Hard to tell, but I suspect these are just ‘love taps’, as Trump likes to put it, and will continue thusly. It’s like the two schoolyard toughs menacing each other on the playground, but both are afraid to actually get into a no holds barred fist fight.
Meantime, Trump blurted out the military secret of continued nighttime escorts today. Hegseth and the military had no choice but to follow his lead. Of course, take all of the details they laid out with a HUGE grain of salt. He claims 100M barrels in a month (roughly 3M a day). I’m sure everyone in the military crapped themselves when he blurted that out, but oh well I guess.
Are they actually getting ships through the strait? Maybe… but I doubt that it is anywhere near the volume he states – bc Trump can’t help but exaggerate. Maybe it’s an extra handful of ships per night, maybe 1M barrels a day? Who knows, but take his number and factor it down… probably by a lot.
I’m sure that Iran has some residual capability to patrol at night. They say they can’t use radar, maybe that’s true, maybe Iranian radar illuminating at night gets targeted. OTOH cease fire, is Iran really not using any radar right now? I find that hard to believe. Plus there are other ways to see at night – a tanker has a big IR signature at night and the straight is narrow, so a low flying drone loitering over Iran near the straight could also detect a tanker for example. IR detection is easy and Iran has the capability.
Based on his personality, the orangutan just soiled his diapers bigly.
The helicopter was a pretext.
Classic song!
Ironically the misses and I were scrolling thru Netflix last night and settled on the Denzel movie ‘Fallen’ from 1998. That very song plays a key part of the movie which we both enjoyed and somehow had never seen before.
More like idiocracy
That was a great scene. John Goodman possessed by the fallen angel singing “Time.is on My Side” while he stalks Denzel’s character.
I can’t help but wonder why this nation has had to choose from a cadre of pathetic candidates for elected offices for so long. This is not only for the highest office but also for those of significantly lesser rank as well. I remember reading that this was the case for the Ottoman empire as it declined into collapse in WWI. Is it a natural expectation for nations in general? No empires of old left today…..
We only get to choose from the candidates the ultra wealthy have chosen to back.
The candidates the ultra wealthy have chosen have served them well.
Yup
I think Congressman John Conyers of South Carolina had a lot more to do with Joe Biden’s successful run for president in 2020 than any billionaire. For a brief time, billionaire Michael Bloomberg was a candidate for president but decided that he would not be successful in getting the Democrat nomination and dropped out of the race.
I think you mean Jim Clyburn.
The average IQ in the US is 98.
Not from what I’ve observed on my extensive US forays before darkness descended on the lands West of Maine. 🙂
Pipe down, serf. Thinking isn’t for the common folk.
I have been okay with Ronald Reagan, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden (had good handlers). None were giants, but none were idiots either. Bush Jr was an idiot. Trump is beyond the pale stupid. There are two giant problems in the USA: Fox News and evangelical christianity. Get rid of those and we have a chance.
Oh yes those pesky religion things that bring up the thoughts of “freedom of religion” if that means anything.
Trump is truly a deranged psychopath. I still come upon people who think he is great. The idiocy and ignorance of his supporters is truly scary. Lindsey Graham just got re-elected. Massie lost–both by comfortable margins.
But leave it to the democrats to bail them out in 2028 by nominating some Marxist loon to run against the republicans. I see no relief and very little hope for our country. The USA is becoming a very dangerous place to live. If I didn’t have children and grandchildren to worry about, I would consider leaving. My brother already left for Portugal a few years ago.
Lindsey only got re-elected because the guy running against him was a literal glue sniffer. Republicans literally can’t do better it seems.
The Democrats have never elected a Marxist loon to run for President. Today’s Democrats are Eisenhower Republicans. There’s a few Marxist loons in the mix of the party, but its a tiny, powerless number.
Your brother had an exit strategy. Your turn.
If Trump loves inflation Biden must be his hero as inflation was over 9% when Joe was looking after things. More than twice as much as Trump could muster and he did it without a war!
Guess you missed something called Ukraine
The US decided not to participate in the Ukraine war directly. They provided weapons.
Weapons are not what caused the inflation stemming from that war.
Inflation under Biden was the result of Trump’s COVID policies. By destroying the economy, Trump crushed oil production and destroyed supply chains that took decades to build. When Biden took over and reopended the economy, inflation soared as companies fought over products slowly coming out of those destroyed supply chains. It took a couple of years, but Biden got Trump’s disastrous inflation back to 3% before idiots reelected Trump.
stock market dives…….. all the way back to may 5th levels.
this country is so accustomed to insanely outsized returns since March of 2009 that when it loses any value it is considered a “dive”. cnn money page fell from slight greed to neutral sentiment …at all-time highs to fear in a matter of 2 days and it’s way down there. goodness we need a comeuppance.
Did Iran hit the Apache helicopter? They deny it. The claim is that it was hit by a Shahed drone, though Iran denies intentionally hitting the helicopter. Does that mean (1) Iran is lying, (2) they got lucky and hit a high-value target, or (3) that this was a false flag attack, possibly by the Israelis in order to keep the US-Iran conflict going (like when they bombed the USS Liberty repeatedly with fighter jets and Navy torpedo boats, killing thirty-four crew members and seriously wounded 171 others)?
Shaheds are slow AF and pretty much don’t maneuver. They’re not antiaircraft weapons. How the F do you use one to shoot down anything faster than a hot air balloon?
Once you fire a Shahed drone, it just goes to the programmed target, launch from point A, goes only to target point B. Can’t track and follow a helicopter. Second the Shahed carries a significant warhead-there would have been nothing but confetti left of the helicopter if the drone exploded on the helicopter
The most logical explanation I’ve heard is that the helicopter tracked the drone, blew it up and was too close and somehow damaged by the large explosion.
They might have just blundered into eachother.
The helicopter snd pilotd would be confetti
Ah, another Larry Johnson reader/watcher? Frankly, the story being played out by military sounds like something a kid might have made up. “See, there was an Iranian drone, and it came in and lodged in the cockpit in-between the two pilots but it didn’t explode!”
… and then everybody clapped.
