Truth Social: CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED! Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, “THE 12 DAY WAR.” This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! Truth Social: Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered. There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was “set free,” because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction. I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their “system,” and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured. Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Oil spiked much more than reports expected and has since crashed.
I never thought a spike would last or go as high as derivative contracts expected, but nor did I expect a collapse today.
Then again, how many expected a cease-fire today?

I expect there will soon be a pissing contest over the enriched uranium inventory and location. Just like the one over whether Saddam had stopped his WMD programs. If Iran really was 15 days from a bomb as Mossad claimed, the enriched uranium was already in metallic form and being cast/machined into the shapes required for the warhead design. I would have enriched the uranium beyond 60% during the missile exchange during the Gaza ethnic cleansing.

Kevin, I don’t know how old you are, but I am old enough to remember the Iraq/Iran war in the 1970’s. The Iranians and the Iraqis both used chemical weapons on each other, Iranians courtesy of the U.S.S.R. and the Iraqis courtesy of the U.S. A. That’s how we know Saddam had weapons of mass destruction because we sold them to him. By the time the C.I.A. decided that Saddam was no longer controllable, he most likely sold/transferred them to Assad in Syria which he used on his own population 40 some years later. That is how we knew he HAD W.M.D.s but we certainly couldn’t admit that we supplied them. It was just way to continue feeding tax dollars to the industrial military complex that controls the C.I.A. Just my humble opinion.
Apparently Trump had the Iranians notified ahead of time of the bombings so they could move their remaining uranium stores and equipment, and evacuate their staff. The Iranians in turn communicated they they were going to launch a couple of dozen rockets at our base in Qatar, giving the US time to prep its anti-missile defenses and evacuate non-essential personnel. Trump gets to be “strong!”. The US does what Israel can’t, and takes away Israel’s excuse to kill Iranians, and Iran’s leaders get to be “strong!” by retaliating all the while keeping their nuclear program (though having to rebuild facilities elsewhere). Netanyahu gets to be “strong!” by letting the Israelis believe that they have neutralized the Iranian nuclear threat. Win-Win-Win. I’m as anti-Trump as the next liberty-loving American, but this wasn’t too bad.

Chinese and Russian intermediation offers were rebuffed by Trump as unnecessary. By refusing the gambit he took out Israel’s principal worry in Iran’s atomic weapons without committing the US to deeper military efforts and showed who called the shots in the region.

Israel and the U.S. would have run out of air defense eventually, whereas Iran still has tens of thousands of missiles on hand. How many expensive Iron Dome and Patriot missiles are left? Replenishing these anti-missile stocks will take years. In this war of attrition, complex air defense missiles are much more difficult to make in volume than offense.
Iran has two other big cards: the support of Russia and China.
All indications are that Iran’s nuclear enrichment capability (e.g. centrifuges) remains intact. They were moved out of those sites weeks ago. The B-2’s big bombs pounded sand. Mission not accomplished.
Stopping the war at this point leaves Netanyahu with an aborted war that accomplished little that Iran can’t quickly repair. But it did demonstrate to all Israeli’s their vulnerability to missile attack. Politically, Netanyahu is in worse shape than before he started this war. Ditto for Trump. Generally agree here. My read is that Israel only has free reign over Iran’s western areas, which while not nothing, isn’t everything either. Iran’s air defenses in the center/east remain intact so Israel can’t do much damage there. Also, Israel was running out of projectiles with which to shoot down incoming missiles, while the Iranians have many more missiles left. So the game was… does Israel have the stomach to watch Israeli military assets and cities burn while they play whack-a-mole with missile launchers all over central and eastern Iran…while begging the US to come into the war on their side. Originally I thought Israel would win that game. Now I think Israel is losing. The fissile material is hidden away. Netanyahu has issued an announcement celebrating that all the goals of the Israeli operation have been met. He’s preparing the public for a face-saving climb down. This is a rather shallow analysis from a military perspective! Israel was getting smashed by Iran’s modern maneuvering and hypersonic missiles, and therefore played its’ “Trump” card (Israel’s Lobby that controls POTUS and Congress) and ordered the U.S. to bomb Iran in violation of international law, and save their fannies (and cities / infra-structure). No doubt Iran had many modern Russian and Chinese surveillance systems that were able to gather first hand data on F-35 operations and performance. It’s also reported that Chinese engineers helped to build the underground nuclear facilities, and odds are the penetrating bombs never reached to bottom to do any damage to the equipment / materials down there. Even if there was damage, China/Russia and Iran now know how to “tweak” their design, and make sure that doesn’t happen next time when it really counts. Current and former military members have known for the past decade that our THAAD, SM2/3 and Patriot (along with Israel’s David Sling and Arrow are outdated and have a low probability to stop modern multiple warhead and hypersonic weapons. This therefore should be a wakeup call to our civilian leadership, that all is not good in air defense land, and the $4-$30 million dollars we’re spending on each missile, is not returning any kind of reasonable ROI, when facing much cheaper missiles. Bottom line: We showed our hand, and the next card game we play won’t go so well.

At this point Israeli planes can destroy any military site including missile launchers without any need for US help. The US bombs were just icing on the cake.
You don’t seem to remember the past difficulty we have faced when “SCUD hunting” in Kosovo, Desert Shield/Storm, etc. Erector Launchers must be found and killed to stop ad many “arrows” from arriving, but that has always been extremely challenging, and continues to date. No doubt many ELs were hit, but it’s also assured that a large number were decoys, and not the real thing.
Israel said it would stop attacks if Iran stopped them. Then Israel proceeded to launch another attack just minutes ago.
It’s a game to see who gets the last attack in, but by all rights, Iran should since Israel launched the war to begin with.
