Trump “Not Sure He’s Willing to Make a Deal with Iran”

“They are begging to make a deal, not me. They’re begging to make a deal.”

Deal or No Deal

Reuters reports Trump “Not Sure He’s Willing to Make a Deal with Iran”

It’s a short video. Play it.

Obvious Lie of the Day Quotes

They have the chance, that is Iran, to permanently abandon their nuclear ambitions and chart a new path forward. We’ll see if they want to do it. If they don’t, we’re their worst nightmare. In the meantime, we’ll just keep blowing them away. They are begging to make a deal, not me. They’re begging to make a deal. Anyone that saw what was happening over there would understand why they want to make a deal. But they say, ‘Oh we’re not talking to’. Anybody would know they are talking. … only a total fool, and they’re not fools. They’re very smart, actually, in a certain way. And they are great negotiators. I say they are lousy fighters, but they’re great negotiators. And they are begging to work out a deal. I don’t know if we’ll be able to do that. They should have done it two years ago or they should have done it when we first came into office.”

Dissecting the Obvious Lies and Ironies

Trump: They are begging to make a deal, not me. They’re begging to make a deal.
Reality: Trump is desperate for a deal. If he wasn’t he wouldn’t keep talking about it.

Trump: Anyone that saw what was happening over there would understand why they want to make a deal.
Reality: Anyone who saw what was happening to the stock market, bond market, oil prices, fertilizer, gasoline, diesel, and the polls would understand why Trump is desperate for a deal.

Trump: But they say, ‘Oh we’re not talking to’. Anybody would know they are talking. … only a total fool, and they’re not fools.
Reality: There are no direct talks. Iran will not even talk with Kushner. There are efforts to get talks, not talks. Every news agency in the world reports it that way. Trump did let a bit of truth slip in. “They’re very smart, actually, in a certain way. And they are great negotiators.” Yes, it is smart to not give into Trump demands. It’s smart to mock him whenever possible because all Trump understands is force. And Iran is doing that to Trump’s obvious frustration.

Trump: They should have done it [make a deal] two years ago or they should have done it when we first came into office.
Reality: Do you see what’s happening here? Trump is trying to pin this on Biden. But it was Trump who tore up a deal that even Trump’s Secretary of Defense and top general said was working.

Trump’s First Term Flashback

  1. Trump’s US State Department: Iran honoring the terms.
  2. Trump’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: Iran honoring the terms.
  3. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA): Iran honoring the terms.
  4. Arms Control Association: Iran honoring the terms.
  5. All US European allies: Iran honoring the terms.
  6. Every other signee of the accord: Iran honoring the terms.
  7. Trump’s top general Gen. Joseph Dunford: Iran honoring the terms.
  8. Trump’s Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis: Iran was complying with the terms of the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal

Those are the facts. Dunford and Mattis testified before Congress that Iran was honoring the terms of Obama’s JCPOA deal.

For discussion and links please see What If Iran Just Honored Obama’s Nuclear Deal? Would We Be at War?

Spare me any sap from other sources. Mattis and Dunford were not doves. And they went on Congressional record.

Key Details on Mattis’ Statement and Context:

  • Testimony (October 2017): Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Mattis said, “I believe that [Iran] fundamentally [are] in compliance with its nuclear deal”.
  • Contradicting Trump: Mattis, a career hawk, advised that staying in the deal was in the U.S. national security interest, putting him at odds with President Trump’s public criticism of the agreement as an “embarrassment”.

Iran only began stepping back from JCPOA limits (e.g., higher uranium enrichment levels, reduced IAEA access) after Trump unilaterally withdrew in 2018 and reimposed sanctions—not before.

This sequence is well-documented in IAEA reports and international statements that include Trump’s top general and Secretary of Defense.

Trump Does Not Negotiate

Trump does not negotiate, he demands. And his demands are usually so ridiculous the other side cannot agree to them.

And that’s where we are in this pathetic effort to achieve a deal by demand, when we already had a working deal.

What Are Trump’s Goals?

That’s an interesting question. Trump’s goals change every day if not every minute.

However, it’s clear Trump’s top goal is to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Ironically, the strait was open before Trump started his idiotic war based on advice from Kushner, Ted Cruz, and Lindsey Graham. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded war as well.

Trump went against top military advice, just as he did when he tore up the deal.

Now that Iran shoved this into Trump’s face with a brick, Trump is desperate for a deal. But Trump is incapable of backing down or admitting error.

Importantly, Trump is not even in control of the war, excuse me, I mean “excursion”. Israel, Arab states, and Israel all have a say in where this leads.

What Are Iran’s Goals?

This one is easy.

Iran’s overriding goal at the moment is “inflict as much pain on Trump as possible”.

Once you understand that simple fact, you understand why Trump is in a very tough spot.

I came up with that goal. It’s possible others have figured that out as well.

Modern Warfare

The US has overwhelming military capability (on paper), but lags Iran on easy to build drones that cost 5 percent of defense missiles.

The US is years behind on missile production. But drones are cheap and easy to build. Iran has help from Russia.

In a hissy fit of arrogance, Trump rebuffed Ukraine’s offer to help. “We don’t need their help in drone defense,” he told Fox News. “We know more about drones than anybody.”

The arrogance of Trump is a sight to behold. No one can tell him anything because he knows everything.

“If you look at the defensive capabilities that are available, we have a long way to go to get to where Ukraine is at this stage,” said Michael Kofman, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington.

Trump Wants a Speedy End to the War He Started

WSJ: President Trump has told associates in recent days that he wants to avoid a protracted war in Iran and that he hopes to bring the conflict to an end in the coming weeks.

Nearly one month into the war, the president has privately informed advisers he thinks the conflict is in its final stages, urging them to stick to the four-to-six-week timeline he has outlined publicly, according to people familiar with the matter.

Four-to-Six Weeks?!

Now that’s quite the arrogant hoot, isn’t it.

Trump started the war on February 28. The war has lasted 26 days so far.

To end the war in 4 weeks means the war ends in 2 days. If it’s 6 weeks, Trump has 2 weeks plus 2 days to end the war.

At 3:51 AM this morning, I asked Trump Wants a Speedy End to the War He Started. OK, So What?

Trump Tells Aides He Wants Speedy End to Iran War

When you start a war, the other side has a say when it ends.

Please click on the above link for more discussion of drones and how the war started.

Just hours ago, Trump said he wanted a speedy end to the war. I accurately asked “So What?”

Now Trump says he’s “Not Sure He’s Willing to Make a Deal with Iran.” The sides are not even talking. The only discussion is a framework for who will be involved in the talks.

Yet, Trump is sticking with the notion he can end this war in 4-6 weeks. MAGA cheers. And they cheered when Trump said “no more wars.”

They cheered when he said he would release the Epstein files. And they cheered when he refused to do so.

They cheered when Trump said he would cut energy prices in half. And they cheer now when Trump says higher inflation is a “small price to pay”.

Meanwhile, let me remind you Iran’s overriding goal at the moment is “inflict as much pain on Trump as possible”.

Core MAGA can clearly take lots of pain and lies. But the rest of the county won’t.

The US is probably going to get a good whipping when all is said and done with this war, and deservedly so. Hopefully, it will be the wakeup call for us to pull back and re evaluate our place in a new multi polar world. Maybe the next congress (as useless as they tend to be) will rein in the executive branch and saner heads will prevail.

The epstein files were getting too much attention so a portion of this war was a distraction. Bebe has dirt on trump and many powerful people from the Epstein days.  but there is something under the radar here. he took one of the largest oil reserve nation in the world in venezuela . Now he is limiting the middle east oil production. He is stopping and railing against alternative energy. there is something at play here in the control of oil. He seems to favor Russia also a huge oil reserve nation. So is part of this about control of oil. He even said we get rich when oil prices go up.

Clearly the US military-industrial complex has the capability to produce low-cost weapons like Iran’s drones. But crony capitalism will never let the US taxpayer off the hook. It must be expensive mass-produced (and mass -expended ) hardware to protect the industry’s profits in perpetuity, however much longer that lasts.

The goal in Iran, much like in Vietnam, is not to win, but to drag it out as long as possible to maximize profits. Whether that leads to an American revolution or not remains to be seen. It is possible that crony capitalists will be hoist on their own petard. One can only hope.

Another TACO extension indicates that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed for another 10 daze. 10 daze is 200 million barrels of crude that are never pumped and all that fertilizer that will not be produced, Helium? None of that. And LPG? NOPE!

So the depth of the shortages, disruptions and economic chaos continues to be magnified. The shortages keep hitting more dominoes and damage is exponential through day 90 when the global economy will break.

This is the end of Day 28… 560 million barrels of oil have been removed from the market. The ghost fleet is now fully contracted and heading toward delivery ports.

There will be quite a few empty tankers awaiting orders,

Trump can say whatever nonsense he wants but until the Straits is open and oil drops below $100 for a sustained period of time or at a bare minimum, oil futures drop, he is a complete and total failure.

If oil remains high, we’re going to have an economic apocalypse. And before clowns chime in and say, “it didn’t happen with Ukraine/Russia” then you don’t understand a damn thing about how the oil market works.

The only good thing is I’m going to profit handsomely but even with profits, $150 oil is still painful all the way around.

To some degree it is masterful how Trump can control the markets, bringing oil prices down again when there is no real news in the war. He makes it sound like they are close to a deal over and over again in order to prevent the markets from collapsing, even though there are no talks actually happening. How long can he keep this verbal juggling going?!

The equity/gold/crypto valuation crash that is ongoing and is following an identical 1929 self-ordered decay fractal pattern is secondary to extreme overvaluation of assets pushed higher with terminal cycle 500 billion dollars of private funds’ investment; many of the funds which are now worthless. In the big picture, assets are being sold to address the dollar denominated bad debt undergoing leveraged default. The silver lining is the timing of the Israeli-Trump war; most will blame those little dictator incompetents for the global crash. The Iranians and US citizens will have a No-Kings-No-Despots victory in Nov 2026.

This is looking like a disruption and shortage that has no chance of being resolved in the next three months even if peace were achieved tomorrow.

It’s not just the President. When things are said about the country in a negative fashion, in regards to the President, it’s inclusive then of Americans that Voted for the President, All those in Politics that support the President, All the people in other countries that respect our President etc.

You can’t throw the Country and more than half of its Supporters out the window for having agreements on a boatload of issues, as that is a Democracy after all. Then claim the less than half and unelected in a landslide people are right now. It simply doesn’t work that way. He was already the
president once, so people knew what they were getting.

Why are we defunding our own Country? Why are we giving away our Countries money? Why are we not asked for identification to vote? Why do we give away our countries Tax-dollars to other countries people for free? Why do we give away Tax-dollars to people in our own country for free?
