Paxton Defeats Cornyn, Cook Political Immediately Lowers Republican Chances

Minutes after the AP call, Cook Political Report moved the general election forecast from “Likely Republican” to “Lean Republican.”

Paxton Wins Texas Republican Primary

The Wall Street Journal reports Paxton Wins Texas Republican Primary After Trump Endorsement

State Attorney General Ken Paxton clinched the Texas Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, defeating longtime Sen. John Cornyn in a primary runoff as President Trump’s last-minute endorsement of Paxton helped lift another MAGA firebrand.

With 80% of the vote counted, Paxton had 64% to Cornyn’s 36%, according to the Associated Press on Tuesday night.

The outcome came after a long and ugly battle between the men and opposing factions of the GOP that sent them to a runoff Tuesday after neither won 50% of the vote in the March primary. The outcome sets up a general election contest expected to be the most competitive that deep-red Texas has seen in years. Democrats hope the seminarian James Talarico can defeat Paxton and help them take control of the Senate.

Paxton, 63, served most of his time as attorney general while facing criminal charges for securities fraud, which he eventually resolved with a pretrial deal. His top advisers accused him of abusing the office to benefit a donor. He was impeached by the state House controlled by his own party in 2023 but then acquitted and reinstated by the Senate. He denied wrongdoing in each of the situations. He is now amid a divorce initiated by his wife, who alleged adultery by Paxton.

The race between Paxton and Cornyn is the most expensive Senate GOP primary on record with more than $128 million spent on advertising and reservations in the state, according to AdImpact. Of that, at least $92 million was spent to boost Cornyn—including $22 million spent in the three months from the primary to the primary runoff.

Paxton’s Top Five Impressive Qualifications

  1. Loyal to Trump. He will do anything Trump wants.
  2. Served most of his time as Texas attorney general while facing criminal charges for securities fraud, eventually resolved with a pretrial deal.
  3. Top advisers accused him of abusing the office to benefit a donor.
  4. Impeached by the state House controlled by Republicans.
  5. He is now amid a divorce initiated by his wife, on “biblical grounds”. His wife alleges adultery.

Are those impressive qualifications or what?

If you are looking to steal an election, there is no one better qualified. Paxton is a perfect fit for Trump.

Talarico Post on Paxton

James Talarico is Paxton’s opponent in November.

Talarico’s Appeal to Texas

“Three years ago, Ken Paxton was impeached by his own party fpr using his public office to enrich himself, and his donors at the expense of the people. That kind of corruption is the rock at the core of this broken system. It’s why we can’t afford anything. It’s why we can’t get ahead no matter how hard we work. …”

Yes, but look at Paxton’s impressive qualifications.

Quote of the Day

Full Senate Revote

Please note Trump Faces a Full Revolt in the Senate, Even Senator Tom Cotton

“Who thought this was a good idea? Who chose this timing?” Cotton asked bluntly.

Save Act is Dead

The “Save Act” is Dead. It’s going nowhere.

That’s why I am confident Trump will lose nearly all the tossup races.

Mish Preliminary Senate Forecast, Democrats Pick Up Four Seats

I stick with my assessment Mish Preliminary Senate Forecast, Democrats Pick Up Four Seats

I expect Democrats will pick up 3 to 6 seats. 4 will win the Senate.

When Senators Tom Cotton, Ron Johnson, Ted Cruz, and others are ringing alarm bells, you know there is a fire.

And that is what the polls show too. Given that Trump is Trump, he will not change.

If anything, Trump will get increasingly desperate, losing more voters in the process.

The Texas Senate is close to a tossup. Expect that to be the costliest race in the election.

Defending Texas will take money from elsewhere, increasing Democrats’ chances in other states.

…but wait there’s more!
Paxton’s corruption has been darn near his hobby. Take the picture above of him at his mugshot. It is State LAW that all mugshots are to be taken with the person in prison clothes. The logic was to have everyone look similar to try and be fair.

Alas Paxton seems to do nothing “fair”. IN VIOLATION OF STATE LAW even his mugshot when booked is illegal. No one is supposed to be shown mugshot favoritism – oh, unless you’re the DA. Then you can pull illegal strings even at your booking and wear a suit! The stench runs as deep as you’ll find here.

BTW, I always thought this illegal mugshot photo has a nice crap-eating grin to it huh?! B/e he KNOWS how bad he’s been – and he’s only dug deeper in the interum.

This who gives a shi* Gender Rage-Baiting is MAGA Red Herring crap. Near completely inconsequential to the lives of near all Texans and yet MAGA followers use it to try and make hay out of bull shi*. It’ll in no way affect you and you run with it like it’s Jack Shi* – when it clearly is immaterial to the role.

Only a shallow MAGA supporter would take the relatively few handful of gender issue people as more important than a vast and deep history of felonies BY THE CANDIDATE as more important. Don’t sprain your back twisting for rationale.

I grew up in Texas – in order for Talarico to win Paxton will have to have a full-on meltdown. The last time that happened was 1990 when the GOP candidate for governor pontificated about sexual assault and Ann Richards squeaked in. The average Texan is proudly stupid – obsessed with Jesus, guns, football and beer.

Cornyn was already severely handicapped before the election due to his siding with gun control in the senate. Texans love their guns indeed. It is estimated that 10 to 11 million adults own guns in Texas.

> No it doesn’t. It won’t even be remotely close. He will easily beat Talarico by more than he just won against Cornyn. Talarico is not nearly as liked as Cornyn was. You know, the guy that just got his clock cleaned… He will go down in flames due to his bizarre stances on various subject matters, and other reasons too. This one is over before the first ballot is cast, which will be for Paxton!

I disagree that Paxton is loyal to Trump because Paxton is only loyal to Paxton as per his history. He will stay with Trump as long as that’s in his interest but if he does win and Trump achieves lame-duck status (in progress) Paxton will go whichever way he thinks will advantage himself.

Trump is currently what is described as a “Lame Duck” President. Trump has acknowledged this, and is fully capable of getting the job done just the same.

He has unbelievable support across the board. Was elected overwhelmingly by the majority of Voters. Won all the swing states, and who does that anymore? Won the overall vote in every fashion imaginable.

Some may not like or appreciate the Man, but loved and admired he is by the overwhelming majority of Voters, and this according to the election. Of course, seeing Paxton obliterate his so called opponent, who looked more like a “Write In” candidate to me, and the Voters too obviously!

The fumblementalist Christians of Texas are about to unleash the Christian Purity Crusade. A vote for Talarico will be a certain one-way ticket to hell. God will be on Paxton’s side. He is the chosen one. They will be meaner than snot, it will be Biblical, they will be washed in the blood, and they will be armed to the teeth. There could be blood.

Not defending any of the MAGAts but doesn’t Talarico have a theology background?

I’m not too fond of religious superstition and always doubtful of such charlatans when they get involved with politics or associate with politicians starting with Billy Graham. MLK, Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Jerry Fallwell, Bill Moyers also come to mind.

Ah yes charlatans like MLK, the only bright spot in American history books and the only part of 20th century American history we bother teaching in schools because the rest is lynching and too embarrassing to talk about. That charlatan.

I have a lot of reasons to dislike Christians but you could probably name some people less overwhelmingly positive in your point. Jim Bakker is right there.

Classical Jewish Texts (Talmud)
In ancient rabbinic literature, sages categorized human beings into distinct physical and gender classifications. While classical texts often focus on up to eight categories, the six most commonly cited in these discussions include: [1, 2]

  • Zachar: Male
  • Nekeva: Female
  • Androgynos: Having both male and female characteristics
  • Tumtum: A person whose sex is indeterminate or obscured
  • Aylonit: A person identified as female at birth who later develops male characteristics at puberty
  • Saris: A person identified as male at birth who develops female characteristics or lacks a penis [1, 2, 3, 4]

Before science discovered chromosomes there were babies born who appeared in every visible biological way to be perfect girls – all the parts of a girl and none of the parts of a male were visible – who were identified as girls at birth who were in fact biological males, They had XY chromosomes and internal testes. They were boys you blooming binary idiots thought were girls. For decades newspapers would occasionally run a story about some young woman who finally discovered she was a boy.

Hmm… usually it’s the opposite. When one party gets absolutely obliterated, like the Dems in this example, that party, Dems in this case, usually get completely annihilated. After this show of force and strength for the party in power, it leaves very little chance the Dems will accomplish much of anything, in the way of a positive outcome.
I am somewhat surprised myself by this. I thought the Reps had a lock on Texas, but with the false media hype, I bought in a little, and thought it could even be close, although I doubted that, but thought about it briefly. Wow! If this is a prelude to what’s coming, the Dems are going to be the party of minimal representation in short time. If they handle things wrongly, and complain like they can, they could sow their defeat for the next few elections. Tread careful Dems or you could float away into oblivion… Looks like the wake up call has been heard and the sirens are loud and clear for support and eventual Victory!!!

A mid-term wipeout for the Dem Pedos is a distinct possibility. They best be quiet, behave, and look like real politicians this election.
