70 Percent of Northern Gaza Is on the Brink of Starvation

Israel strives to end all Hamas control. That’s created a vacuum over food distribution and
rage over the level of hunger.

Gazans Go Hungry as Hamas, Israel and Clans Battle for Control

Bloomberg reports Gazans Go Hungry as Hamas, Israel and Clans Battle for Control

A top Hamas police commander met in mid-March with the heads of a Gaza clan who’d been commandeering aid meant for hungry Palestinians. He told them to stop taking the shipments or they’d be killed. A week later, that commander was killed — by Israeli troops.

The Israelis weren’t acting at the clan’s request. Rather, all three — Hamas, clans and the Israeli military — are engaged in a bloody battle for control of north Gaza and aid distribution, making an already troubled process more dangerous and unreliable. Famine is a threat, and people are beginning to die of hunger, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

The dead commander, Fayeq al-Mabhouh, had organized a safe route so that those who’d been desperately making bread from animal feed got wheat flour, according to a senior Hamas official and several others on the ground, speaking on the condition of anonymity. Israeli troops killed several others working with Mabhouh, Gazans say, and the safe route died with them.

A recent UN-backed report said famine is imminent in northern Gaza where 70% of the population is on the brink of starvation. Some aid groups have accused Israel of using hunger as a weapon in its war against Hamas, which began on Oct. 7 when Hamas operatives broke into Israel, killing, abusing and abducting hundreds.

Shimon Freedman, a spokesperson for the Israeli military’s civilian affairs department, denied the accusations. His department issued a rebuttal to the UN-backed report on starvation, saying it “contains multiple factual and methodological flaws, some of them serious.” The rebuttal adds, “We outright reject any allegations according to which Israel is purposefully starving the civilian population in Gaza.”

IPC Famine Report and Israel’s Rebuttal

Israeli Rebuttal Conclusion

We do not take lightly the assertions of international organizations such as the IPC. As detailed above, we note there are inaccuracies in the report as well as failing to mention Israel’s considerable efforts to improve the humanitarian situation. Israel is attentive to the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and is working proactively with partners to provide relevant aid to the population and calls on the international community and the aid organizations to continue to work together for this purpose.

Stepping back a level, I did not find any allegation in the IPC report that said Israel was purposely starving Gaza civilians. However, I don’t doubt such allegations have been made.

Pertinent Questions

  • Purposely or not, is it happening? Is he humanitarian aid enough? Is the aid being stolen?
  • Israel noted the number of trucks delivering food and water in its rebuttal. But is it sufficient?

Netanyahu Says Rafah Attack Preparations Underway

It is easy to find a way to believe whatever you want to believe. Just take a view and read one of the above two reports that will reiterate something you want to hear.

Meanwhile, there are around 1.4 million Palestinians in Rafah and Israel has stated it will launch a major operation.

President Biden has objected and keeps pushing for a ceasefire that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected.

US Rift With Israel

The Wall Street Journal noted that on Monday, Netanyahu canceled a visit to Washington by top aides to discuss U.S. concerns over the planned offensive on Rafah.

This was after the U.S. abstained from a United Nations Security Council resolution that called for an immediate cease-fire while also demanding the release of hostages.

The Humanitarian Crisis Will Worsen

Over 30,000 Palestinians have been killed. At least 75 percent of Gaza is totally destroyed.

The humanitarian crisis is guaranteed to get much worse when Israel invades Rafah, purposely or not.

“It’s Only Temporary and Won’t Require US Boots in Gaza”

On March 7, Biden announced the US will build a temporary ship docking pier in Gaza that will not require boots on the ground.

For discussion please see “It’s Only Temporary and Won’t Require US Boots in Gaza”

Is there any reason to believe or trust anything that we are doing or saying about costs, the temporary nature, and no boots on the ground?

How temporary is temporary?

Biden is Hiding Weapons Shipments to Israel

Also on March 7, I noted Biden is Hiding Weapons Shipments to Israel and Ignores Illegal West Bank Settlements

Weapons shipments that exceed a certain amount require notices to Congress. Biden’s solution is to make the shipments smaller and send hundreds more of them.

What Color Are Biden’s Red Lines?

On March 10, I asked Are Biden’s Red Lines to Netanyahu Really Yellow or Green?

Today, president Biden warned Netanyahu an assault on Rafah would cross a ‘Red Line’. O.K . What happens if the line is crossed?

Note that Biden continues to press for aid to Israel with no strings attached. If that’s not yellow or green, what is it?

I Dare You to Step Over this Line

In the stupid memories department, I recall that cartoon from grade school years, most likely 2nd through 6th or 7th grade. It popped into my head while writing this post.

Q: I had written about red lines before so why now?
A: This was the first time I was trying to come up with something funny about crossing lines, triggering the above recollection.

Vanishing Lines

Israel cancelled the meeting on Monday and by Wednesday, Biden’s message about red lines had already changed.

The Wall Street Journal reported U.S. Pushes to Shape Israel’s Rafah Operation, Not Stop It

Rafah has been at the center of a growing rift between Israeli and U.S. political leaders. Those tensions boiled over on Monday, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled a visit to Washington by top aides to discuss U.S. concerns over the planned offensive on Rafah, where Hamas fighters are making a final stand. The tit-for-tat move was in response to the U.S. abstaining from a United Nations Security Council resolution that called for an immediate cease-fire while also demanding the release of hostages.

In a sign both sides are seeking to de-escalate the clash, the White House said Wednesday that the Israeli delegation’s visit was being rescheduled, with the agreement of the Israeli prime minister’s office.

Both sides also agreed that the Hamas battalions in Rafah must be dislodged so that the militants cannot attempt a comeback or continue to smuggle weapons into the enclave, which are prerequisites for ending the war and paving the way for a new political authority in Gaza. And that means trying to find ways to work with Israel on its Rafah strategy, for lack of better options.

Netanyahu Calls Biden’s Bluff

Netanyahu called Biden’s bluff. All it took for Netanyahu to win was cancelling a meeting that arguably should not have been scheduled in the first place, with obvious conclusions:

There are no red lines, pink lines, or orange lines.

There are no lines at all, just political posturing and fantasies about lines.

I am truly blessed by someone like you making posts. Globalists keep telling everyone it is all going to be just one Big happy family across the Globe when there are no national boundaries. Multinational corporations aligned with all the elites and wannabe dictators will ride Shepard on all the little people.
Klaus Schwab and the WEF paving the way towards that future utopic vision.

Dummies such as myself are only neanderthals simply being happy there exists a Bill of Rights attached to US Constitution ensuring that Government remains servant to the people rather then people being subjects of Government officials and bureaucrats.
World citizens do not have those protected rights after all that is the way it has always been in history.

From the tone of your post it seems safe for me to assume we can all just not get along. This proves that the Globalists are not correct in their belief structure.
Thus people such as you make a solid case for National interests coming before Globalist ideas.

Please keep making posts. Thanks again.

Oh I am very much in the camp of not being the global citizen you appear to want to be.

You see having had a few years under my belt I would not trust what another says as far as I could piss into the wind.
So for me having a Bill of Rights means there is a mechanism that codifies
what my rights are. Along with that is a Case Law documentation with a Historical record.

However you being a good global citizen put your faith and future into the hands of those who promise you much with only requirement that you support them.

Getting betrayed comes with becoming an adult in the ways one deals with others.

So you go right ahead and trust the likes of a Biden or Reverend Al Sharpton or the UN or WEF whomever promises you that moon up there in the sky.

Israel is not indiscriminately bombing people and buildings. They are only targeting the terrorists. Of course, to Israel, every Palestinian is a terrorist. Therefore everything and everyone in Gaza is being bombed.

Biden supports the Gazans, which is why he is building a dock to bring in food supplies. He also supports the Israelis, which is why he’s delivering bombs for Israel. .

Nobel Prize laureate: Israel must reoccupy Gaza Strip
At the Table: Prof. Yisrael (Robert) Aumann, who won the Nobel Prize for work on conflict, cooperation through game-theory, said Israel should establish military presence in Gaza.
By ERICA SCHACHNE, MAAYAN JAFFE-HOFFMAN
APRIL 1, 2024

Israel must reoccupy the Gaza Strip and consider rebuilding Jewish communities in the coastal terror enclave if the country wants to prevent another Oct. 7, Prof. Yisrael (Robert) Aumann says matter-of-factly.

Conversing over cups of slow-brewed, fresh filtered coffee, the 93-year-old Nobel Prize winner is confident that not only must Israel “actually remove Hamas from Gaza” but also learn from its mistake of withdrawing in the first place.

“The event that led to the current situation was the Disengagement,” Aumann says of Israel’s 2005 unilateral withdrawal from Gaza that uprooted 9,000 Jews from their homes – many of whom were once again uprooted after the Hamas massacre. “Let’s draw conclusions from that. It would be wrong to make a repeated mistake. Certainly, we should not do that in the West Bank/Judea and Samaria – whatever term you prefer – and we should not do it again in Gaza.”

Aumann, who won the Nobel Prize alongside Thomas Schelling for their work on conflict and cooperation through game-theory analysis, suggests that Israel establish a military presence in Gaza and explore the possibility of resettling citizens there, similar to what it has done in the West Bank.

Israel should ignore Biden and finish the job in Rafah
BY MORGAN ORTAGUS AND GABRIEL NORONHA
03/30/24 1:00 PM ET

The last stand of Hamas could lie in the Gazan city of Rafah, where the terror group’s last four battalios remain. The only force stopping Israel from completing Hamas’s destruction is President Biden. Israel faces a dilemma: will it heed Joe Biden’s concerns about the military operation, or do the right thing and eliminate its nemesis?

Biden is pulling out all the stops, going so far as to threaten Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying in recent a televised interview that an invasion of Rafah would be crossing a “red line.” Biden has not used this significant phrase with Iran, North Korea, China, or even Russia – only Israel has been given such a strong ultimatum.

Israel cannot defeat Hamas without going into Rafah. There is no permanent solution to the crisis until Hamas is defeated militarily on the battlefield. Even the Biden administration’s latest threat assessment warned that Hamas’s surviving underground infrastructure would allow “insurgents to hide, regain strength and surprise Israeli forces.” Israel has not yet been able to dismantle Rafah’s tunnel system, which the IDF says is where many hostages are being kept.

Like everywhere else on planet earth, including even in slightly better equipped places like Texas: THE problem is specifically that people do not have enough guns and rockets; while governments have far too many.

If Gazans had proper, US founder recommended, amounts of arms to own and bear, they would indeed not be starving now. Or: At least not starving on account of one totalitarian, ever so self righteous, hack of a government or another robbing, bombing, maiming, killing and harassing them.

Hamas has broken peace agreements 15x in the past. They are determined to eradicate Jews as their horrifying assault on civilians shows. They are serious about “from the river to the sea.” Hamas forces maximize Palestinian civilian casualties by placing military forces, command headquarters, and guns underneath hospitals, mosques, schools, etc.

Just like Biden is willing to fight Russians in Ukraine to the last Ukrainian, Hamas is willing to fight Israel to the last Gazan Palestinian. Hamas leaders have got their condos in Qatar and fortunes from UN aid money tucked away. They will be able to weather out any disaster, and you can bet they are eating well. Hamas took over Gaza in a violent coup in 2007, famously throwing Hezbollah leaders off of roofs and mutilating their bodies for good measure. There have been no elections since. Their hope is that world opinion will give them the victory. There’s is a battle of wills and PR.

Hamas is a Nazi-like party. It needs to be completely defeated for there to be any hope of peace in the Middle East.

It seems most of the Arab countries could care less about the Gazans. None of them will take any as refugees. This is a major difference from earlier conflicts with the Palestinians. Regarding Israel, they control America thru AIPAC. Our politicians have sold our sovereignty to Jewish influence. There are some Jewish reporters (Blumenthal, Greenblatt) that have spoken about this. Colonel Douglas MacGregor has said it as well. We all know. All three Presidential candidates (Biden, Trump, RFK jr.) have sold out.

Israel will created with the illegal ouster of the Palestinians. Israel should be divided and give half to the Palestinians and figure out some control group between the two parties utilizing Western and Arab countries. Peace can come.

Lastly, the Israeli government needs to apologize to the USA for the murder of US soldiers of the USS Liberty navy ship. I didn’t know anything about it until I read about it on a message board like this one. Look it up! Our boys were intentionally murdered and Navy rescue was turned back by our traitorous government. Look it up! Lastly, if they can kill JFK and hush it up for decades, the government is capable of doing anything. Our Founders understood this and you should too.

The Saudi and Gulf Arab influence rivals that of any other influence group in the US by its size and the sheer ability to bribe its way into our politics. By luck they sit upon something the world needs but as a people they produce nothing and contribute nothing. They are the ultimate rentier class.

The war in Ukraine cont. Sinwar failed to conquer Jerusalem El Quds. He recruits the west to press Bibi. Hamas might try to oust king Hussain to fight across the Jordan river and between the dead sea and Aqaba, in Jordan. The response to killing #2 El Quds brigade in Syria might expand the disaster.

Mish, the BS story in Bloomberg is just propaganda to make you believe it’s not Israel’s fault. Israel controls the food and water getting into Gaza and NO, it is not sufficient. Hamas has stores in the tunnels and doesn’t need to steal food from their families and friends.

Israel lies threw its teeth to hide its butchery. They want to destroy a hospital, there’s terrorists underneath it. The stories of beheaded babies and mass rapes Oct 7 were lies to justify the brutality they are unleashing. The Biden administration is doing the same thing. It cut off aid to UNRWA and then sends a few toke food packages to prevent political blow back. They even staged the ham handed incident at the state of the union address were Biden was caught on a live microphone saying he was going to have a come to Jesus talk with Netanyahu. It’s all so silly and transparent. Only the rubes fall for such crap.

I am hoping and praying for and end to this conflict, a defeat of Israel, and a defeat of the Jewish power structure in the US which bribes the Congress and President to do its bidding.

They are ALL the same. The single most destructive of all the trivially idiotic lies propping up our totalitarian progressive terror-state era; is the nonsense that there ever has been; or ever will be; any “leader” anywhere, which is either meaningfully better or worse than Stalin. They are, literally; whether Reagan or Obama of Kim or Amin or Bibi or whoever it is who headed up Gaza under Hamas; all equally bad.

Better government means smaller government. Period. Bibi is worse than his Hamas-leader colleague, to the tune of 33,000,and counting vs 1200 by now; not because the Hamas dude is somehow less “vile.” But simply because Bibi’s government is bigger. Hence worse. There are No, Zero, exceptions to that calculus.

Listening to the stale overused tropes from weirdos with persecution complexes – ugh.

While claiming superiority, they allege they’re smarter than the goyim while whole heartedly believing 2000 year old fabricated mythologies. Oxymoron

The Dead Sea Scrolls are fakes BTW.
No you didn’t kill Jesus.
Jesus never existed.

The absurdity is? The people with the most Semitic blood are the Yemenis. Think about that for a moment?

Murder 25000 women & children on camera for “the fairytale” is literal madness.

Thinking you are gods chosen people according to 2000 year old fairytales is the most pathetic self serving delusion I could imagine having.

The inability of people to self reflect is seen more often in Jews and evangelicals (also hypnotized by ancient fairytales) than any other group. It’s why Jews spend their whole lives troubled and never get better in therapy and evangelicals avoid it like the plague.

Israel will never recover from this.
The stain will last a thousand years.

Stop swallowing Hamas propaganda and regurgitating it as fact. @cogatonline details that hundreds of trucks enter Gaza daily from Israel. The UN Food Program opined that Israel has let in over twice the amount of food required for the entire Gaza population over the past 170 days. At this moment there are over 400 trucks – in Gaza – waiting for the UN to pick up. As you noted, Hamas and the Clans are fighting for possession of the food. No one in Hamas is starving, and the grocery shelves are full of the “free-not to be sold food” for sale at high prices. You make it sound like the Hamas commander was killed because he was getting food to people needing it. No, this Hamas commander was killed in the battle at Shifa Hospital. Hamas and the Clans are fighting to get the food and others will starve, as Hamas sees this as exerting pressure on Israel to leave Hamas alone so they can re-arm and re-load.
Only by ending Hamas rule will you be able to distribute food to whomever needs it.

The only Jews indigenous to Europe are converts. The phrase “European Jews” is a racist and ignorant thing to say. Jews are from Judea, which is another name for part of the Land of Israel.
BTW most Israelis are descended from Jews who arrived from Arab and Muslim countries such as Iraq, Morocco and Yemen.
Ironically the people of Israel never originally called themselves Jews. It was the Muslims who called them “Yahood” – Yahuda is Judea in Arabic. The moniker stuck and dispossessed of their indigenous land, to the world the Israelites then became Jews – their then-former national home.

My own family was entirely Jewish on both sides. I’m Caucasian. Not one bit Semitic. None of the Jews I’ve known were either.
They were all from European predecessors.
Call me racist and ignorant.

The “Palestinians” in the recently made-up region of that name (it wasn’t called that under the ottoman empire) was comprised of jews, Christian lebanese arabs, arne ians, circassians, copts, greeks, and a few Bedouins. The influx of Jordanians came after the influx of Jews, so your potted history is even worse than mine, but mine’s still better than yours.

Sadly, this is what war does. It is devastating for all of the innocent people who get caught up in it. This is why we should be working harder at preventing wars than provoking wars. Yes, Gaza is a mess. Ukraine is a mess. And they will get messier as the likes of Lindsay Graham continue to prioritize war over peace.

It’s funny how many people confuse “they kicked my grandmother out of her house and shot my grandfather” with an irrational hatred of Jews. Perhaps the Palestinians might feel differently if their villages hadn’t been destroyed and their families pushed into refugee camps? Just a thought.

V. Laszlo

Very few Palestinian families can truthfully claim that this happened to them. The overwhelming majority of those who left “green line” Israel did so of their own volition. Perhaps 10-15K were actually expelled – a small fraction of the 750K+ Jews expelled from Arab lands in the years following Israel’s creation.

80% of Gazans are from other areas of Palestine ethnically cleansed from their ancestral homelands by Israelis and blockaded in this tiny strip without any rights, and your take is that all they know “is hare for the Jews”? I seriously wonder if any Zionist talking head would be willing to accept a similar condition for themselves and their families.

Thank you. I am interested in your thoughts in that thread. When I was at Wharton, I would call international economics the last refuge of complete bullshit, but that was hyperbole based on what I saw at the time as a lot of emptiness revolving around currency translations.

I go back and forth with you, as intelligent people will do, but I respect your views even when I disagree with them. Also, when I don’t know enough, I especially seek other perspectives. And finally, I have an active voice writing style that tends to convey more certainty than I actually have.

Much of the comment section here is knee-jerk, fact-free and irritating, including myself at times even when I don’t want to do it, and including you at times. All that said, I suspect that the tectonic plates are shifting. There is a discussion to be had there, and I want to have it. There is much more to say. My underlying thought is that the conversation might be trapped to some degree in the idea of a universal reserve currency when that might not match what is happening now.

Consider that long comment a thought experiment. Your move.

There is no requirement to be “proportionate” in war. Hamas launched the attack without regard for what would happen to their own people. This is in no way whatsoever Israel’s fault. By the way, the fact that Egypt isn’t lifting a finger to help the people in Gaza speaks volumes.

Hmmmm…. I wonder if the good Dr. Funkenstein would apply the same “they deserved it” logic to the other side of the conflict… namely, that Palis had their country stolen from under their feet, were kicked off their land, suffered massacres and rapes themselves and have been under military occupation since including unlimited detention without charges. Does this justify the attack of Oct 7th as you claim the Oct 7th attack justifies the barbarity of Oct 8th til today?

Are you aware that the Palestinians as a race didn’t exist prior to 1948? There were only Jews and Arabs occupying the area. As Arabs and descendents, today’s Palestinian faction should be welcome in any other Arab country, yes? But the answer is no, they aren’t. Palestinians are widely hated.

Here’s but one of numerous articles that explains the reasons why, for anyone with an open mind.

MUST-SEE VIDEO: Why Muslim nations don’t want ‘Palestinians’
By Andrea Widburg

One of the things the left is desperately downplaying as it demands that Israel allow Hamas and its supporters to go unpunished and, ideally, cede to the Arabs the entire land of Israel is the fact that the surrounding Arab nations are refusing to take Gazans in as refugees. The reason is that nobody wants these “Palestinian” Arabs who have proven to be as destructive to Arab nations as they are to Israel.

When Barack Obama’s policies triggered the disastrous Arab Spring, with massive upheaval in the Muslim lands of Africa and the Middle East, Europe opened its doors to refugees from those wars. Europe did this even though its cultural connection to these refugees was minimal to nonexistent. It was, the Europeans felt, the right thing to do. (It’s also proved to have been a remarkably stupid thing to do, as Enoch Powell predicted, but that’s another story.)

Gaza Fatality Data Has Become Completely Unreliable
by Gabriel Epstein
Mar 26, 2024

Brief Analysis
Given the discrepancies in official Palestinian counts and their growing reliance on questionable data from media reports, the credibility gaps revealed by a previous Washington Institute study have become yawning chasms.

Heated debates over the Palestinian death toll in the Hamas-Israel war tend to focus on the fact that widely cited fatality numbers make no distinction between combatants and noncombatants. While this is true, it misses a more fundamental problem—the numbers themselves have lost any claim to validity.

Gaza sowed the wind? You mean that open air prison suffering a blockade for over a decade by an aphertaihd state that controlled their calorie intake and routinely “moed the lawn” with annual killings? It’s unbelievable how easy it is for people to blame the victims of a brutal occupation instead of the occupying colonists, but I suppose might makes right.

Also FYI, most of the people killed on Oct 7 were police and army, and the majority of the civilians were killed were by Israel itself as they bombed everything to try to get rid of Hamas. Hamas’s goal was to capture hostages not kill them. As for the rape claim, where is the evidence that Hamas comitted mass rapes as claimed? All the “evidence” touted leads back to claims made by Israeli officials, without any actual forensic evidence or even surviror testimonies.

Netanyahu’s plan A was to ethnically cleanse Gaza, and mass migrate the population to Canada and Australia or wherever, but it appears that even the ultra-liberals there became scared of public revolt after what they have already done to their countries.
It appears plan B is ethnic cleansing by starvation. The US will staunchly support Israel, and lose any moral superiority with it. A grave political liability.

I’m pretty sure that the October massacre by hamas was genocide by active aggression. Gee, I wonder why the other Muslims in the region don’t want the Gazans to go to their countries? That’s because the Gazans are lacking any kind of civilization; they don’t know how to be civilized.

Israel still has 2.4M to go, else Israel will never be safe.

Second ordered effects are real.
Once the war is over and the videos of Israeli war crimes are compiled in repositories and coffee table books are printed in full living color, and this genocide is printed and chronicled in school books and taught by college courses and of course “the internet never forgets.”

And t’s really just getting going, so the barbarity spawned from the murder of so far 25000 women and children may metastasize into a huge conflagration and it’s debatable and suspicious origins will make it impossible to Israel to blame the Pali’s.

The only thing that possibly capable of minimizing this is an even bigger horror of a World War III, of which Gaza will be reduced to a footnote. Pretty much, it’s Israels only out.

Words like genocide lose all their meaning when they are misused and wantonly thrown about. There is no actual genocide in Gaza.

You should pray to your favorite deity that one doesn’t occur in Gaza because the Palestinian death count would then have to be a couple of orders of magnitude higher than it is now to qualify as a genocide.

We are in the phase of indirect democracies where the vote of the people produces the same results of the worst leaders rising to the top. Elections can’t be audited, code in machines can’t be checked and votes are counted long after the election using “emergency” rules.

If the people try to organize to fix it the regimes get more tyrannical and cruel. I was hoping not to live in what comes next which is outright tyranny but it looks like I will be at this point. It probably would not be that bad but it’s every single western democracy doing it.
