Trump Cancels “Operation Freedom” But We Have a new Goal

It took all of one day for Operation Freedom to fail.

Operation Freedom Cancelled

Truth Social: Based on the request of Pakistan and other Countries, the tremendous Military Success that we have had during the Campaign against the Country of Iran and, additionally, the fact that Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement with Representatives of Iran, we have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed. President DONALD J. TRUMP

May 05, 2026, 4:52 PM

Who Called This One?

Actually it was 2 ships with a mere 2,000 stranded. Had we kept at the same stunning pace, it would only have taken 1,000 day or so.

As of early May 2026, reports indicate that between 1,550 and 2,000 vessels are trapped or stranded in the Persian Gulf and near the Strait of Hormuz, with up to 20,000 seafarers affected.

But now it’s cancelled after just one day. So the final scorecard is 3 ships giving full credit for another one today.

I can’t explain to MAGA how significantly stupid this all looks. But hey, I am pleased to report we have a new goal.

New Goal Announced

Rubio: “The facts clearly bear out, the United States of America holds all the cards. … Our preference is for the Strait to be open, to the way it’s supposed to be, back to the way it was. … That’s what we have to get back to, and that’s the goal here.”

Once again, the MAGA cult is incapable of understanding just how stupid this is.

Q&A on Cards

Q: If the US held all the cards, would the strait be open?
A: Yes

Q: Is the strait open?
A: No

Q: Does the US hold all the cards?
A: No

I’m obviously in the minority, but degrading Iran’s military is good for the Middle East. It would be better to get rid of the IRGC and the mullahs, but that might take a ground war. If Iran keeps shooting rockets and drones at Arab Gulf countries, they might get a ground war. The blockade will grind Iran down further. There are obvious ruptures in the leadership of Iran, and it looks like the Republican Guard (the guys with guns) have taken control. I think we’re going to see more fireworks before this is done. It’s Iran against the world now. This country has been a problem for 50 years. Kushner, maybe Trump’s bagman, has raised over $6 billion from Gulf States. It would be a shame if Trump used our military in a scheme to get even richer.

No matter what deal ensues it will be the greatest of all time and way, way better than Obama’s deal. It will go so much further like keeping the Straight open, no nukes, and no sanctions. Like I said, totally superior to anything Obama ever did.

Iran’s foreign minister is in Beijing right now, meeting with Xi. Trump knows China has been pushing Iran to try to make a deal to end the war. Iran has undoubtedly been telling China that the US is not serious about negotiating. Trump wants China to help push Iran to do a deal.

So Trump is broadcasting that he is trying to negotiate to end the war. Getting Iran to sign a meaningless MOU to begin a 30-day negotiating process would give Trump something he could misconstrue and distort into keeping the markets afloat and oil prices down for another month.

Think about what you are saying here: “China has been pushing Iran to try to make a deal…”

I hear this but the reality is pushing Iran to make a deal actually works against China’s short-term interests.

China sits on ~1.5 billion (that with a b-billions) barrels of oil in a reserve, and currently is buying oil from Russia, and whatever oil Iran can get out by rail. China has no issues with oil in the short-term.

Supporting Iran to resist the US helps China in the short-term: (1) it exhausts the extremely low supply of America munitions and missiles; and (2) this is important when China finally takes back Taiwan – there won’t be anyone who can fight for Taiwan.

So the whole idea China is pushing Iran to make a deal is quite the opposite, imo.

Hardly any American munitions are being used during this period while the US blockade is in place. Economically China still has plenty of goods to sell internationally. That is problematic if the Strait remains closed and countries are not in position to buy as much because the oil shortage is wrecking their economies.

The strait isn’t as big of a deal as you think for China getting goods out to the world. Think of it this way if China can get Iranian oil by rail it can definitely supply those parts of the world with it’s goods by rail as well.

As to the munitions, you really should look up the figures because since Ukraine and the mini wars with Iran America’s supply is essentially zero. So that means if an enemy bigger than Iran needed to be dealt with America would only have nukes to counter with. Why because America can’t produce fast enough to what it’s using, and had given away.

Think of that for a second because the US has been giving away most of since 2014. And yes it’s that bad. And the number reason why China is telling Iran, imo to keep up the resistance.

The Iranians don’t trust Trump farther than they can throw him, all based on his past conduct. That is a huge obstacle to any agreement.

One of Trump’s problems in getting Iran to sign the MOU (now described as a 14-point plan) is that Iran has learned it is a mistake to agree to keep the MOU secret. Last time they ‘agreed’ to a plan, the US immediately claimed the deal agreed was completely different than what Iran and Pakistan thought was agreed to. This time Iran will probably insist on any agreement being made public immediately. If that is the case, Trump will insist there be nothing humiliating in it, which means it won’t get signed.

There seems to be more to this story as some are saying Pakistani negotiators did indeed confirm Iran is looking at the proposal, but Trump admitted it’s to soon to believe Iran will accept the deal. Suggesting markets are overly optimistic.

The issue with the information is that it seems Trump is serious about the 48hr deadline with Trump saying, “failure to agree would trigger intensified military action.”

Would he attack before going to China? He’d be full on looney tune if he did.

Trumps “Israel First” policy has resulted in US farm country’s, regular gas being at $5.00 and diesel over $6.00.

Fertilizer has gone up between 15% and 50% depending on what is used in the US and in other nations is up over 100%. In many areas globally, it is simply unavailable along with fuel.

Food crop plantings on a global basis are down roughly 15% putting 1.3 billion at risk. If the monsoon season does not work out perfectly, 3 billion people’s food supply in Western Asia is threatened.

Elections have consequences!

Interesting comment since I just bought a farm out of bankruptcy from the bank that was owned by a big time Trump supporter with a young son that drove around town in his (now-repossessed) “Rolling Coal” F-250 with Fuck Biden flags flying on the cab.

His MAGA hat turned out to represent MIG “Make Israel Great” instead.

Cleaning up the mess they left behind is quite the project and progressing nicely! I’ll have this place profitable within two years.

The soils will take another 5 years to get healthy as it is a depleted soil’s chemically dependent farming desert right now that can only produce if irrigated. Needs lots of organics and biologically active resetting inputs. Spreading previously windrowed organics and growing Heirloom Buckwheat will help.

Here’s to corn cob pipes, straw hats and Porsche Tractors!

Axios reported the memo involves Iran committing to a moratorium on nuclear enrichment, the US agreeing to lift sanctions, and both sides lifting restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz.
Reacting to the report, Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei said it “is more of an American wish list than reality”.
“The Americans will not achieve in a failed war what they did not gain in face-to-face negotiations,” Rezaei said on X.

Wow, this would be one huge TACO if the US agrees now to a memo of understanding. It doesn’t seem clear to me exactly what a memo gets the US, since memos generally just define what the points of discussion are rather than achieving specific agreements. My guess is that Trump really, really wants something prior to his going to China on May 14. If the US naval blockade of Iran is still in place then, I would expect some very tense discussions about it. Iran wants an end to the blockade, but China wants an end too. And China is tired of playing along, as shown by the Chinese government recently telling banks to ignore US sanctions and continue providing finances to the teapot refineries using Iranian oil. Or maybe we get a double TACO, nothing happens, and Trump again postpones his trip to China.

Tremendous military success? I guess Trump doesn’t realize that a military operation is a tool used to achieve your goals. The measure of success is not how loud the bomb are, or how much damage they do, but in whether your goals were achieved. In this case, at least thus far, this has been a tremendous military failure, not due to the soldiers but due to the leaders.

Several have replied about the US paying restitution for the damages done as a result of the Iran war. Fine, but with what? Contrary to the president’s claim that the economy is booming even better than his first term, the US is broke and the fiscal situation in our country is a mess swirling in the toilet bowl for a final flush that some refer to as a reset. We cannot pay our bills now, so why was it such a good idea to start this tragic war and create financial obligations that will almost assuredly initiate massive deficits with associated inflation and the associated collapse in our standard of living. Our country is run by economically delusional fools and we citizens are going to pay the price.

Trump just posted on Truth Social that Fury and Freedom are over. Assuming they can get a deal with Iran. Which in his own words “is a big assumption”.

From Javier Blas:

“ According to the @Axios report, the Strait of Hormuz would only re-open “gradually” during a 30-day period of negotiations *if* an initial deal on a single page memorandum of understanding can be achieved in the next few hours/days.”

1. IF a MOU is agreed upon
2. THEN negotiations can begin for 30 days

One could look at this entirely different than proposed. What if the Administration wishes to have a reason, to do what the President just referenced recently. “blow Iran off the face of the earth“ He has said repeatedly. Of corse Iran needs to give him a reason (done), and he needs others to agree (done), Trump needs a plan as well, if this is the avenue they wish to pursue. IMO it may be the only solution at this point. Perhaps they have been planning the entire plans method of the attack, what, where, and whomever even. This would take about as much time as has been given to achieve such an action.

Q&A on Cards:

Q: Does the US hold all the cards?
A: No

Q: If a massive and final military strike was accomplished, would the US hold all the cards?
A: Yes

Q: what else?
A: The entire clean-up of what they accomplished, caring and feeding for the survivors, and help from whomever they can to do so very quickly.

Q: can it be done?
A: Yes, but only with a perfectly executed strike plan, and accomplishing it once and for all, with no need to do so again, in my lifetime anyway.
> Food, clothing, accommodations are going to be required as well, after this. They will need to have all of this in place from the start, and before a shot is fired. I will assume, if they do so, it has been the plan for many months, and the US was simply buying themselves some time to get things into place.
Possible? I think so, but we shall shortly see… if not, then what is up next?

What is up next should be a three step plan, simple, direct and successful.

Though I agree that the US should withdraw (Trump has no cards and this is putting many countries into a recession if not depression), and that the US should pay for or help in the rebuilding of Iran.

The problem is history shows this rarely happens unless the aggressor is defeated, and by that it’s meant with a lot of losses to it’s civilian population (dying in war or by a devastating attack that makes the aggressor “cry uncle” or both).

2. make restitution for damages and deaths, hold tribunals for war crimes > For everyone killed or just whom the US did, and self defense or for all regardless? This is not something that has even a prayer (Iran does so well, but to no avail on this topic imo) of happening…

3. Bring all US military personnel and equipment back inside USA borders > From everywhere but the U.S. itself? That would be silly? How do we defend ourselves? We NEED troops in the region and especially right now? Do you actually trust Iran to do anything they say they will? They have not as of yet, but hold out hope…

One thing to note is that in this excursion with Iran Trump isn’t the only one with nukes that could attack Iran. Also we must accept that nukes could mean tactical, which would be the better of the nuclear options to use as the fallout is reduced to blocks not hundreds of miles.

But I agree using nukes really shouldn’t be an option (that is if you care about humanity and the world) because doing so opens the door for anyone with a nuke to use them after.

Trump already is a hypocrite and liar, not to mention a thug and a puppet.

He does not care.

I agree with a liar, as I already stated. Hypocrite is a worthy title at times, but sometimes it is said as such, but it really isn’t necessarily. One thing Trump is definitely not, is a Puppet. He answers to Trump, and Only Trump!!! Please don’t use the bogus Israel connection, that doesn’t truly exist. They follow his lead if you pay close attention. They have a mind of their own too, so if a hole is left (Ex. Lebanon), they will quickly exploit it, just as Trump does. That have a mutual respect and understanding on this I do believe.

One word: Epstein.

Trump most assuredly is a puppet, a weakling, a pathetic little cuck. Hell, Rubio admitted that the US went to war for Israel.

The whispers were top brass discouraged Trump from a nuke attack. Within the past week there were reports of seismic activity indicative of an underground nuclear detonation in the southwest US. I interpret such an act as a projection of force.

I didn’t realize that there may have been a potential nuclear testing in the past week by the US.

That’s very odd the given the timing, Trump soon to be in China and all.

China has nothing to gain by talking to our liar in chief. Perhaps they will simply humiliate him by not showing up when he lands?

A nice “WAR MONGERING PEDOPHILE’S NOT WELCOME” billboard would be a good touch!

In terms of your question “Can it be done?”, you really haven’t defined the “it”, but let’s go with something akin to complete surrender by Iran (i.e. US gets everything it wants.) Air power has never caused a country to surrender with perhaps one exception. Take WWII. Germany’s blitz of England didn’t do it. The Allies bombing of Germany didn’t do it. The US fire bombing of Japan didn’t do it. The possible exception–the US nuclear bombing of Japan, although even that was not a stand alone event but accompanied by the certainty of a future US ground invasion. Let us pray that your “perfectly executed strike plan” being planned by Trump does not include a nuclear option.

It’s not a surrender they are necessarily looking for. It’s the Uranium, and any ability left to be able to have Nuclear capabilities. They are trying the easy way, to have a surrender of it all, and inspections to follow, but Iran won’t move on that.
So what may happen imo, is another round of bombs that penetrate deeply inside, and along with that, enough damage within the Country to allow the people of Iran and there already trained, and a large number of them as well, to do the takeover of power. Not much to take and own at this point, but someone will claim it.

Can it be done? Not so sure, but it’s going to be tried if it’s the only option left for America. I guess it’s up to Iran now, full capitulation, OR Annihilation of anything you think you saved, and bits and pieces of all important infrastructure as well, to further cripple the build back up potential.

A Pakistani source involved in peace efforts has been quoted by Reuters as saying the US and Iran are closing in on a one-page memo to end the war.
“We will close this very soon. We are getting close,” the source told Reuters, confirming a separate report from Axios.

Cited two US officials and two other sources briefed on the discussions, Axios said the the deal would, among others, involve Iran committing to a moratorium on nuclear enrichment, the US agreeing to lift its sanctions and release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian funds, and both sides lifting restrictions around transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

So in a word. JOPCA is reinstated and the current regime in Iran wins this round. The US looses because it wasn’t able to achieve its stated goal of regime change.

All the US has managed to do is to make it self look foolish and all its global allies are left wondering at the reliability of the US

No mention of handing over the Nuclear dust, and any other remnants of such? That would be very odd imo? This was the entire purpose after all.

Nonsense. “Nuclear dust” was a pretext. So was “protesters” “mullahs” “the Straits” and everything else.

The real goal was ever always only to turn Iran into a failed state. Any “deal” simply means that the neocons will shift to Plan B.

Two comments: First, Orange clown says ‘oil could be $250-$300/barrel, so it’s not bad’. Just check historical data. I found (in 2014 indexed $) the price has never gone over $150/ barrel. Why does anyone take this psycho seriously, or even listen?! Second, there is no intent to ever reach an agreement with Iran. Orange Bozo did the same thing with Ukraine in negotiating with Putin. In both cases, ‘our adversaries’ had existential, sovereign rights that were non-negotiable. And maga never had any intention of having honest dialogue.

It’s hard not to notice that Trump’s plans for the Iran war don’t seem to be working out. Hence, his cancellation of “Operation Freedom”. Also, since when is shooting at US military assets not an act of war? The Trump folks are playing word games because our Congress wants some answers, and the present administration doesn’t have very many.

In Trump’s fantasy world where he controls the narrative he’s won the war. I think in the real world Trump’s hands are tied, period. Iran can instruct the Houthis to close access to the Red Sea, can close the Straight of Hormuz at will, and can destroy ME infrastructure with missiles and drones in retaliation to any attacks. What options does he have? Next up Operation Market Manipulation 2…

Trump’s hand of cards: 2, 5, 6,7,10 of 4 suits, no wildcrads

Iran’s hand of cards: 5 Aces

Of course cards don’t matter when you are playing 2 differing games – Trump is playing checkers at Grade 2 level, Iran is playing chess at GrandMaster level

One of these sides has suffered total strategic defeat, the other side has achieved resounding victory. In the vast empty spaces inside Trump’s head, he is the winner, while it is obvious to the rest of the world he is the loser.

One side lives in the real world, where actions matter more than words, and the other is in a delusional dream-world of imagined past glories where it is believed that whatever bullshit statment is made it is somehow a fact.

I actually read, after my past post in another thread, that the US govt actually admitted to getting attacked by Iran. But due to the greatness of the American military not a ship was harmed.

Less than 12hrs and we have this?

All the cards you say? You realize Trump you can’t play with a stack of uno cards when playing poker, right?

Anyways simmer and stew beware the month of june.

Rubio’s business card says “MIA – if you see this man, call police””

For a guy who’s business card says “National Security Advisor” and “Secretary of State”, where has he been hiding the last few months? Florida, looking longinglky towards Cuba, from his yacht? A bunker in an undisclosed location?

Maybe he’s just the invisible man, he is there, somewhere, but you just can’t see him.
