Trump’s Voting Claims Are False. So What Is the Save Act Really About?

Let’s discuss Trump’s claims and the solid evidence on fraudulent voting.

Trump’s Claims About Noncitizens Voting

The CATO Institute reports Trump’s Claims About Noncitizens Voting Are False. We Can Prove It.

This week, President Trump called on his party to nationalize American elections, an unconstitutional move that he said would be justified because of the danger of noncitizens casting ballots. “These people were brought to our country to vote, and they vote illegally,” he said.

No president has so baldly proposed to intervene in state elections, but the charge that noncitizens are illegally casting ballots is sadly commonplace. Elon Musk claims on X, without evidence, that significant numbers of illegal immigrants vote. Rudy Giuliani erroneously alleged that my home state, Arizona, had allowed “probably about 250,000” votes from noncitizens in 2020, despite the fact that Arizona has long required proof of citizenship to vote in state elections.

Election officials usually respond to these allegations by pointing out that there are almost no prosecutions of fraudulent noncitizen voters. Reuters has noted that even the pro-Trump Heritage Foundation’s database of election crimes listed only 24 instances of noncitizens voting in U.S. elections from 2003 to 2023.

When confronted with allegations on noncitizens voting in Utah, Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, the state’s top election official, initiated a monthslong review of Utah’s approximately 2.1 million registered voters. She and her team found one “confirmed noncitizen.” Just one. And that one noncitizen, while registered, had never voted.

Idaho, a state of one million voters, ran similar tests in 2024, and they found 36 “very likely” registered noncitizens. That may seem like a lot until you view it in light of claims that statewide elections are altered by such anomalies. Some, but not all, of those 36 people have previously voted, the secretary of state, Phil McGrane, said, but “out of the million-plus registered voters we started with, we’re down to 10 thousandths of a percent” of the overall count — not even close to affecting the outcome.

Louisiana’s investigation in 2025 netted some 390 noncitizen registrants, 79 of whom had voted in at least one election over the last several decades (out of 2.9 million registrants). Just a few weeks ago, Montana found 23 possible noncitizen registrants (out of approximately 785,000 people registered). And Georgia, in some ways the model for these investigations, found in its 2024 audit 20 registered noncitizens (out of 8.2 million registrations). In my four years in office in Maricopa County overseeing voter registration, I came across a total of two possible instances of noncitizens voting out of some 2.5 million registered voters.

Some politicians are trying to exploit even these small numbers. In Michigan, the Macomb County clerk, Anthony Forlini, who is running for the top election office in the state, the secretary of state, recently announced to great fanfare that he’d found 15 noncitizens on his county’s voter rolls of over 724,000 registered voters. The incumbent secretary of state, Jocelyn Benson, then tasked her team with investigating the 15 files. It found that three of the people were U.S. citizens, four were previously removed from voter rolls, four were under further investigation and four do seem to be noncitizens.

These investigations affirm what is simply common sense. People largely aren’t willing to risk their status in the United States — the land of economic opportunity — for the ability to cast one more vote out of hundreds of thousands or millions in a state and hundreds of millions in the country.

The investigations also suggest that many politicians and public interest groups, all of which have access to these reports, may not actually care that much about election security. The constant talk of noncitizen voting is more likely about scoring political points and bolstering fund-raising.

For President Trump, the myth of noncitizens voting is part of the broader story he’s concocted to avoid accepting that he lost to Joe Biden in 2020. But it also appears to be about this fall’s election. Mr. Trump may well intend to send the F.B.I. to run elections in Fulton County, Ga., or the Department of Homeland Security to seize ballot tabulators from Los Angeles County.

I don’t think it’s likely he will do so. But I also wouldn’t have predicted that the F.B.I. would take hundreds of boxes of 2020 election materials from Fulton County, as it did last week. And I certainly wouldn’t have predicted that Republicans would attempt to derail the electoral count on Jan. 6, 2021.

Everyone — Democrats and Republicans — should use the new state-level proof that noncitizen voting is virtually nonexistent to push back against the real danger to our democracy: craven politicians using the issue to undermine our free and fair elections.

The Fraud Scorecard

  • Utah: 1 registered, 0 voted, 2.1 million registered voters
  • Idaho: 36 “likely”, voted uncertain, one million voters
  • Louisiana: 390 noncitizen registrants, 79 of whom had voted in at least one election over the last several decades (out of 2.9 million registrants).
  • Montana: 23 possible noncitizen registrants (out of approximately 785,000 people registered).
  • Georgia: A 2024 audit found 20 registered noncitizens (out of 8.2 million registrations).
  • Michigan: The Macomb County clerk, Anthony Forlini announced to great fanfare that he’d found 15 noncitizens on his county’s voter rolls of over 724,000 registered voters. The incumbent secretary of state, Jocelyn Benson, investigated the 15 files. Three were U.S. citizens, four were previously removed from voter rolls, four were under further investigation and four do seem to be noncitizens.
  • Arizona: In Maricopa County overseeing voter registration, there was a total of two possible instances of noncitizens voting out of some 2.5 million registered voters.

What About California?

The League of Women Voters reports Noncitizens not eligible to register to vote in California

CLAIM: California is registering noncitizens to vote.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. Voter registration in California is restricted to U.S. citizens who are state residents and at least 18 years old on Election Day. While one city, San Francisco, does allow noncitizen parents to vote in local school board races, those voters go through a separate registration process and the policy doesn’t allow them to vote in any other elections.

THE FACTS: As the Nov. 8 election approaches, some social media users are reviving concerns about people who are not legal U.S citizens being allowed to vote.

Among the latest false claims is that California, the nation’s most populous state, is registering noncitizens ahead of the decisive midterms.

“Now that California is registering non-citizens to vote and has refused to cooperate with the federal election integrity program, all votes from California should be nullified and federal representatives from the state be removed from Congress,” reads one post that’s been frequently shared across social media platforms in the weeks leading up to the election. “All in favor raise your hand.”

But California state law requires that a person be a valid U.S. citizen, state resident and at least 18 years of age on Election Day to register to vote, according to the secretary of state’s office, which oversees elections. They must also not be currently serving a prison term for a felony conviction or found mentally incompetent to vote by a judge.

Joe Kocurek, a spokesperson for California Secretary of State Shirley Weber, noted the claims can be found on Twitter going back to at least 2018.

“The claims here are false,” he said by email. “California does not allow noncitizens to vote in elections.”

While some noncitizens were erroneously allowed to register and cast ballots in California in 2018, that was an isolated incident. At the time, at least 1,500 people ineligible to vote — including some noncitizens — were enrolled due to what state officials said was a “processing error” as it launched a new “motor voter” program automatically registering voters when they seek a drivers license. About six were found to have voted in that year’s midterm elections.

Jonathan Mehta Stein, executive director of California Common Cause, a government accountability group, says San Francisco has a special process for school board races, in which noncitizen parents are kept in a separate voter registration file.

“There is no mixing,” he said by email. “Noncitizen parents cannot vote in federal, state, or city elections. Just school board races.”

Driver’s Licenses for Immigrants and Voting

Also consider a fact sheet on Driver’s Licenses for Immigrants and Voting

Fact Sheet

  • Noncitizens have nothing to gain—and everything to lose—if they vote illegally.
  • It is ILLEGAL for noncitizens to vote in a federal election. As of 1996, federal law
explicitly prohibits noncitizens from casting a ballot in federal elections.
  • States have multiple systems in place to prevent noncitizen voting, and
noncitizens face HARSH PENALTIES for voting unlawfully.
. Illegally voting in a federal election can result in a fine and up to five years
    in prison.
. A noncitizen found guilty of this crime may face deportation and revocation of their legal status under immigration law.
.Falsely claiming U.S. citizenship for the purpose of registering to vote may also result in deportation or denial of future immigration status.
  • Studies have found no evidence of widespread noncitizen voting in U.S.
    elections.
  • According to the CATO Institute, “noncitizens don’t illegally vote in detectable
numbers,” and claims about noncitizen voter fraud are “bogus.”
  • A recent search of the Heritage Foundation election fraud database found only 85 cases involving allegations of noncitizen voting from 2002 to 2023.
  • A Brennan Center for Justice study of 42 jurisdictions in the 2016 elections found
that votes election officials suspected (not proven) to be cast by noncitizens
accounted for just 0.0001 percent of the total votes cast.

SAVE Act Five Things

The Bipartisan Policy Organization comments Five Things to Know About the Save Act

Both parties agree that voter registration should permit all eligible citizens—and only eligible citizens—to register and vote in federal elections. Although instances of noncitizen registration and voting are rare, the SAVE Act’s goal of ensuring that only citizens can register to vote is important. But there are easier, more cost-effective ways to improve citizenship verification that don’t create new barriers for eligible voters.

Here’s what you need to know about requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote:

  1. Citizenship is already a requirement to vote, and instances of noncitizen voting are rare.
  2. Many eligible citizens don’t have access to documentary proof of citizenship.
  3. There are better ways to verify citizenship that put the responsibility on government, not voters.
  4. The SAVE Act could have unintended consequences for election officials and election administration.
  5. The SAVE Act needs more time and resources to be implemented well.

Citizenship is already a requirement to vote, and instances of noncitizen voting are rare

Many state election offices began using U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ (USCIS) Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements program in 2025 to verify voter citizenship. Records from this program show that just 0.04% of voter verification cases are returned as noncitizens.

[Note: the miniscule error rates is registering to vote. And there are often errors in the alleged errors due to similar names.]

The actual rate of noncitizens may be even smaller than this data suggests. Travis Couty, Texas, for example, reported that 25% of the voters that USCIS flagged as potential noncitizens had already provided proof of citizenship when registering to vote.

[It’s smaller still due to similar names.]

Many eligible citizens don’t have documentary proof of citizenship

According to the U.S. Department of State, examples of primary citizenship evidence include a birth certificate, a U.S. passport, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a Certificate of Citizenship, or a Naturalization Certificate.

Although at least one of these documents are in theory available to most citizens, not all voters have them readily available. According to recent studies:

Additionally, birth certificates often lack information that matches a person’s current identity. For instance, someone who has changed their name through marriage or court order may need to present a third document (such as a marriage certificate) to join their proof of citizenship (e.g., birth certificate) with their proof of identity (e.g., driver’s license), further decreasing the likelihood that a voter will have the appropriate documentation on hand to successfully register.

Even if voters were to provide documentary proof of citizenship, verifying the authenticity of those documents is an inherently complex task, one that election officials and motor vehicle departments often do not have the resources or training to perform.

Case Study Kansas

Kansas offers a case study of how a documentary proof requirement would likely play out in practice. Before the law took effect, noncitizen registration in Kansas was exceedingly rare, accounting for about 0.002% of registered voters. After adoption, the documentary proof of citizenship requirement prevented roughly 31,000 eligible citizens, or 12% of all applicants, from registering to vote.

Purposeful Ambiguities and Complications

For voters who register by mail, the SAVE Act requires documentary proof of citizenship to be delivered in person to an election office, effectively nullifying the benefits of mail registration.

At the same time, the legislation does not clearly specify how documentary proof must be submitted for online registration, leaving election officials without clear guidance on acceptable delivery methods. This ambiguity increases the risk of inconsistent implementation across jurisdictions and places election officials in the position of making high-stakes judgment calls without clear statutory direction.

The SAVE Act also exposes election officials to heightened legal and personal risk. It establishes criminal penalties for officials who register an applicant who fails to present documentary proof of citizenship, even if that applicant is in fact a U.S. citizen. The bill also authorizes private individuals to sue election officials under the same circumstances.

Together, these provisions could encourage overly cautious behavior (e.g., not accepting applications to register when an election official isn’t familiar with the type of documentation provided) and further strain an election workforce already facing high turnover and burnout.

What’s the SAVE Act Really About?

  • Make it harder to vote by mail
  • Make it harder for women to register
  • Make it harder for minorities to register

That’s it. And it’s obvious.

But if you have TWS and are wearing a MAGA hat you will never admit the obvious.

Trump to Issue Executive Order

Truth Social Link: The Democrats refuse to vote for Voter I.D., or Citizenship. The reason is very simple — They want to continue to cheat in Elections. This was not what our Founders desired. I have searched the depths of Legal Arguments not yet articulated or vetted on this subject, and will be presenting an irrefutable one in the very near future. There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not! Also, the People of our Country are insisting on Citizenship, and No Mail-In Ballots, with exceptions for Military, Disability, Illness, or Travel. Thank you for your attention to this matter! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

Truth Social Second Post

Truth Social Link: We cannot let the Democrats get away with NO VOTER I.D. any longer. These are horrible, disingenuous CHEATERS. They have all sorts of reasons why it shouldn’t be passed, and then boldly laugh in the backrooms after their ridiculous presentations. If it weren’t such a serious matter, it would be considered a TOTAL JOKE! No Voter I.D. is even crazier, and more ridiculous, than Men playing in Women’s Sports, Open Borders, or Transgender for Everyone. Republicans must put this at the top of every speech — It is a CAN’T MISS FOR RE-ELECTION IN THE MIDTERMS, AND BEYOND! Even Democrat Voters agree, 85%, that there should be Voter I.D. It’s only the Political “Leaders,” Crooked Losers like Schumer and Jeffries, that have no shame, and explain why it’s “racist,” and every other thing that they can think of. This is an issue that must be fought, and must be fought, NOW! If we can’t get it through Congress, there are Legal reasons why this SCAM is not permitted. I will be presenting them shortly, in the form of an Executive Order. I hope the Supreme Court realizes, as they “painstakingly” review the very simple topic of Country Saving Tariffs (Those same Tariffs that have been used, by other Countries, against the U.S.A. to drain it of its Treasure and Security — for many years!), and all sorts of other things, that are making our Country Rich, Powerful, and Safe Again, that these Corrupt and Deranged Democrats, if they ever gain power, will not only be adding two States to our roster of 50, with all of the baggage thereto, but will also PACK THE COURT with a total of 21 Supreme Court Justices, THEIR DREAM, which they will submit easily and rapidly when they immediately move to terminate the Filibuster, probably in their first week, or sooner. Our Country will never be the same if they allow these demented and evil people to knowingly, and happily, destroy it. Thank you for your attention to this matter — SAVE AMERICA! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

As noted above that is all a pack of lies in a nonsensical rant about many things.

The courts would immediately strike such an order, and they should.

Voter ID vs the SAVE Act

Like it or not, the Constitution grants states the authority to run elections. It is unclear if the SAVE act is even constitutional. I suggest that it isn’t.

For discussion, please see The Conversation Article on the SAVE America Act.

Constitutional or not, the act is purposely flawed.

Executive Order Dead on Arrival

Trump’s Executive Order idea will immediately be dead on arrival on many grounds.

For the record, I support voter ID. I do not think non-citizens should vote at all, but especially in Federal elections.

I also believe mail-in voting in some states is flawed.

However, illegal executive orders and the SAVE act have nothing to do with fraud and everything to do with suppression of voting of groups legally entitled to vote.

Bottom Line Is Desperation

The bottom line is desperation. Trump is getting hammered in the polls.

Rather than change policies voters are upset with, Trump wants to make it harder for people to vote and to intimidate those who do vote.

Humor of the Day

What Are the SAVE Act Odds?

Fortunately, the odds the SAVE Act passes is only 13 percent.

The Odds Trump gets smacked in court for an illegal executive order are approximately 100 minus the odds of the SAVE Act passing. That’s about 87 percent.

Democrats 83 Percent likely to Win the House

For discussion of recent polls, please see Democrats 83 Percent likely to Win the House. Where Is the Floor for Trump?

Let’s discuss some recent polls, by issue.

Expect more Trump desperation, because it’s coming.

Well Mish elections are politics and politics is about money and the economy plus I agree that vote fraud is rare and illegal immigrants voting is even more rare. The republicans want to make it harder for alleged democrats to vote or discourage them from voting at all. I am independent but at this point it is obvious the republicans are going to get their asses kicked in the midterms. The democrats then do oversight investigations and impeachments. That has the regime extremely frightened and they are panicking

Answer these three questions: Why did Biden open the borders and fly illegals into swing states for four years? Why did the Democrats say the borders were secure when 20 million illegals came in with the support of American Tax money? Why is this not called treason perpetuated by the Democrat party? Why are they fighting to keep ICE from deporting these illegals? My answer: to build a future voter base to gain perpetual power in DC

Mish,

See the explanation in the article by the Fractal CTO linked below as well as others on this topic at that substack. Fractal (an independent software company based in Austin, TX) built the eBay fraud detection engine, the fraud systems for much of the auto insurance industry, among other software projects including work for NSA and other agencies.. I also suggest watching that company’s videos demonstrating ineligible address mail-in ballot fraud.

While your points are valid regarding the voter ID misdirection campaign including the likely unconstitutionality of the SAVE Act, the Fractal article below describes how election integrity remains (and has for a very long time been) compromised in almost all states of our country due to state voter rolls corrupted with ineligible voter mailing addresses. A sophisticated large network of NGOs then collects, completes and submits in bulk the mail-in ballots sent by the voting authorities to such ineligible addresses. The completed ineligible address mail-in ballots submitted by the NGOs will match the corrupted voter roll information, making it appear to election administrators/observers on the ground (and in audits) as if such fraudulent election ballots were legitimate.

This problem can be fixed easily as described in the article. Unfortunately, it appears the individual secretaries of state generally have demonstrated little to no interest in actually fixing the corrupted election system in our country nor do the large state voter integrity organizations with their own vested interests. The current electoral system is maintained as is because it serves the transnational capital power interests effectively controlling the country.

If anyone in good faith takes at face value the claims of alleged “sound” election integrity by state officials without understanding the root problem of how election manipulation can (and actually does) occur on both sides of the Uniparty, one easily can be misled into believing voter integrity is intact.

_____

https://omega4america.substack.com/p/how-the-government-lies-to-you-utah

“…You the citizen need to know, in every state, voter rolls are from 15% to as much as 25% anomalous – voters are registered at ineligible locations.

That means 15% to 25% of all mail-in ballots can be manipulated by a third party – in elections often won by 1% – 3%.

Every state. No exceptions. Not One Secretary of State is taking action to stop this.

Our team tested 26 states – and there are several takeaways: …

This is the important part: THE SECRETARY OF STATE DOES NOT KNOW THE ADDRESS IS INELIGIBLE – SO IT CAN AND OFTEN DOES RECEIVE A MAIL-IN BALLOT.

THAT IS WHY THE ENTIRE VOTER ID PUSH IS USELESS – THE PROBLEM IS NOT VOTER ID – THE PROBLEM IS ADDRESS MATCHING….”

Counterpunch ran a series of articles about the 2016 primary between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders asking if there was voter fraud during the primary. Specifically, they were looking at Clinton’s performance in districts that were using tabulation machines that were known to be hackable versus her performance in districts with machines that weren’t known to be hackable. They also compared the exit poll results vs final results in all the counties that had had primaries at the time.

What they found was that in districts that had tabulation machines that were not known to be vulnerable, the final results pretty much matched the exit poll numbers. In districts where that used tabulation machines that were known to be hackable, Clinton outperformed the exit polls by 20% or more. Their final conclusion was that Clinton likely gained between 120 and 150 delegates due to vote tabulation fraud.

The article is pretty thorough in their explanations – much more than I’m doing in this post.

While that doesn’t impact this debate about voter ids, it does cast doubts on statement that there hasn’t been significant voter fraud in this country. And it leads to questions that if there was indeed voter fraud during the 2016 primaries, why should we believe that it stopped there?

(These vulnerable tabulation machines were replaced before the 2016 presidential election.)

The final article in the series is here. You can find the links to the other articles in the series at the bottom of this page. (The article mentions the machines that were known to be hackable)

Glad there is finally acknowledgment that noncitizen voting is another made up Trump lie. So, why the push to show proof of citizenship / voter ID? The voting blocs most affected would be married women with legal names that don’t match their birth certificate, students who’s address at school doesn’t match their ID, voters who struggle financially, often moving thus creating address disparity on their ID…And how do such voting blocs tend to vote? Overwhelmingly Democratic.

You can offset that with getting rid of mail-in votes. Those are predominantly from the elderly who have a more difficult time driving and standing in long lines. Not to mention military folks stationed all over the world. And they vote primarily Republican.

The solution is so simple: make ID required to vote as soon as every citizen of voting age has received a free ID Card. Register every eligible citizen pro-actively and now hurdles are removed and the tiny bit of fraud Mish mentions will be reduced close to zero. That, of course, is not what republicans want. It would make voting too simple and safe.

The biggest issue I have with the facts is that niggling little reality called “MY TRUTH.” So long as that is allowed in polite conversation, serious conversations become a riddle of fact-finding. FACTS rarely enter these discussions.

This is also what we are seeing with PAC’s and LOBBYISTS. They COOK THE BOOKS when it comes to the facts.

Thus, my reasons for not voting. I do not have the faculties to discern liars from truth-tellers. Even Our Pres. is looking awfully inconsistent day to day. He is having a hard time as he is yanked to and fro. I would never want that job.

I was CEO of a small $100Million Company back in the 80’s and INTERNALLY I had to figure out who was lying about a late shipment or failed component.

IT WAS AWFUL how many people lied inside of my own company. I imagine REAL politics and could never do it but I also cannot vote due to a lack of TRUST in our System of Politics.

Exactly why didn’t Mexico build that wall for Trump/The US? Does it ever occur to you that none of your inflated12 million could have migrated if Trump did what he promised?

Trump is an idiot that never fulfills his promises or tells the truth. EVER!

Balance the budget? Nope!

End the war in Ukraine with one phone call? Nope!

End Israels obliteration of Gaza? No!

6x Bankruptcies, 34 Felony Convictions and who knows how many sex crimes against minors, (we do not know because of the cover up).

I doubt Trump could find his asshole with both hands and a mirror!

Who does Trump work for?

PS, Trump’s ICE Prison team just purchased a warehouse from A Russian Real Estate company and they profited $100 million on the deal in only two years.

Perhaps Trump is only enriching himself?

+When I voted, the officials at the desk made sure to not check my identity, even though I exhorted them to do so!+

You KNOW that there was not a single RATIONAL reason to implement tariffs. It was insane UNLESS you wanted to destroy America, then it made sense. Whoever is Trump’s handler – and of course that was the Moneychangers that own the Fed and its stockholder banks like JP Morgan, BOA, Citibank, Goldman Sachs – they wanted to destroy our country. Now the last nail on our collective coffin will be the war with Iran only because Israel wants this. (Remember, even their most respected figurehead, Noam Chomsky, turned out to be an Epstein man.)
Why were the tariffs were insane? you disingenuously ask? Because we were just tapping electronic digits into the Fed’s computers and purchasing all this shit FOR FREE we couldn’t afford otherwise. (We neither have the infrastructure nor the skilled workforce to bring manufacturing back to our shores.)

There are two obvious reasons why non-citizens would never vote in an US election if they are of sound mind: (1) It’s a pain to vote on a Tuesday and the usually lackluster roster of candidates is a further deterrence, as readily illustrated by the fact that only 65 percent of citizens bothered to show up to vote in 2024. (2) It’s a criminal offense that that can put you in jail for at least one year and get you deported.

Nineteen states currently allow unauthorized immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.
Most of these are blue or bluish-purple states. These licenses are typically standard, non-REAL ID compliant, and cannot be used for federal purposes.

the problem with caving to conspiracists is that there’s no end to it.

So to all those saying, well why don’t we just do it, this is why. If we have voter ID and Republicans lose, it’ll be some other scam Dems were supposedly running, like manipulating voter rolls, vote harvesting, electronic manipulation… there’s literally no limit when you are willing to outright make stuff up as Trump has already done.

we saw this in 2020. they came up with lists in Pennsylvania for supposedly dead voters, and those that didn’t match and the state tracked down literally every single one and showed their votes were legit. Did that stop the claims that Pa was stolen? of course not. Neither will instituting voter ID.

this isn’t complicated: if Trump or Republicans lose they will claim the vote was stolen no matter how many new safeguards we put in place.

My main concern about the 2020 election was the Covid psyop that allowed 5 key states to change their voting procedures just a couple of months before the election which allowed millions of people to vote by mail. This resulted in likely ballot harvesting and millions of mail in votes to be sent in and not even counted until the election day votes were tallied. No way you can properly count and properly verify the legitimacy of tens of millions of votes in just a few days after the election. All you needed was 5 key states for this to happen to control the outcome of the election. If there was massive fraud, that’s where it would have occurred. And who’s fault was that? Trump and his DOJ under the scumbag Bill Barr. They took no effective legal action (if any at all) either before or after the election. Trump turned the country over to Fauci, allowing the lockdowns and hysteria that allowed such massive mail in ballot harvesting to occur. And proud father of warp Speed and the Covid vaccines (Trump) allowed all this to happen. At least he has now stopped bragging about how his beloved vaccine saved tens of millions of lives.

If only the Democrats had chosen better candidates other than the horrendous Hillary and kamala (not to mention Walz) we would never have to suffered two terms of Trump. Same for the republicans nominating Trump- had they nominated someone competent, honest and not so pathetically insulting and polarizing, It would have resulted in a republican landslide against Hillary, Biden and Harris. Unfortunately, corrupt elites and billionaires seem to choose the candidates for both sides, while the sheeple comply.

Just for fun I’d like to see all these MAGA voters come up with their birth certificates in order to vote. Have every one of these loud mouths make a trip to the voter registration office and prove their citizenship facing the exact scrutiny as any American Indian or other minority.

I know I can ~ so it would be fun to listen to them bitch about having to make the trip and prove their citizenship.

Open question, do ICE officers have to prove their citizenship? Do they check them for felonies or their criminal records?

The Big Lie and the hairbrained idea that non-citizens vote in elections have both become fetishes of the Republican Party. The idea is that whenever Republicans lose an election, it must be that the other side cheated. A great way to divide and polarize the country.

I am unsure how the SAVE Act makes it harder for women or minorities to register to vote as they seem to get driver’s licenses and other documentation required for government services or clearance to fly without much complaint. While it’s documented that it would not make much difference, the burden to implement is not excessive either in my opinion.
I am not a fan of mail in voting; it is not allowed in France. It has been shown on television election coverage where boxes of questionably sourced mail in ballots suddenly show up for counting in close elections. Reducing mail in voting to actual need rather than including convenience would be a step in the right direction.
One thing voter registration and proof of citizenship would do is improve the perception of the integrity of the vote. In a time when many question everything the government does, improving voting integrity is important.
While we are at it, I am all in favor of paper ballots only. With today’s technology there is no telling the various ways tallying the vote can be manipulated or recounts be altered.

Why do we “trap” ourselves into such picky debates over such obvious advantageous purposes. It is NOT a problem for the overwhelming American voter base to show at least some state ID to do anything IDs are associated with. If there are exceptions with problems associated with having an ID, deal with that separately. What the past shows or does not show is NOT the issue. The issue is, going forward, at least half the nation wants to set up voting IDs and most American have no problem with that as most Americans have IDs. For goodness sake, get on with it and on to something else. Let’s get stuff done!

Did you read the article? The SAVE act is not asking people just to show a state ID. It’s asking for documented proof of citizenship like birth certificates, passports, etc, many of which people don’t have. Trump is counting on low information voters to just assume this is about showing a state ID.

I realize that, and that does not change much, for me. Personal responsibility is for everyone. If you don’t have your birth certificate, you can still get it through appropriate processes (if that is what you need to do). If you don’t want to do that, don’t. I have my birth certificate (still) and have had it for 83 years. What’s the problem?

the problem is the government should not come up with burdensome requirements months ahead of an election.

i was naturalized 35 years go. my birth certificate is not from the US. Presumably i’d need to pay for an official translation, and even then it gives the clerk leeway to mess with me if they fee like it. in MAGA land, in contested districts, that WILL be an issue.

At worst you’ll miss voting in one election and the mid terms are way less important that the Presidential.

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/citizen-journalist-nick-shirley-pulls-back-curtain-california-voter-fraud

The independent journalist who exposed massive amounts of social service fraud in Minnesota is now calling out alleged voter fraud in California with the release of a new video of his investigation there.

Nick Shirley has released his latest video which chronicles voting irregularities in the Golden State where he says he uncovered inaccurate voter rolls, dead people casting votes, lax voter ID requirements and month-long election processes that cast doubt on election integrity.

Shirley, a 23-year-old Utah native, has had to hire round the clock security after he exposed extensive welfare fraud among the Somali community in Minnesota.

During his visits to addresses obtained through public voter rolls from the California Secretary of State, Shirley found numerous examples of lack of negligence regarding verification of voters in California elections.

Examples of suspected voter fraud included no voter ID and signature-only “verification” in order to vote, 125-year-old voters still active on voter rolls, dozens of voters registered at a single UPS Store/mail drop and a voter who successfully registered her dog to vote in 2021 and 2022.

I recently watched two videos on the topic of H1-Bs by a former AMEX dept. director:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5fXrPMGM5E and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO5PJBLgnes
These videos match the experience of a lot of American tech workers, and to a certain extent my experience as well. It also confirms what all 1st generation immigrants know, that large immigrant groups are highly nationalistic and racist. Non-discrimination laws and regulations exist, but are almost never enforced.
I became curious about that in December 2010, when I spent 10 days with an old friend in Seattle, and I felt I was in Mumbai, except when we hang out with her group (Taiwanese/Chinese).
While such videos match common knowledge, they do not match the gaslighting statistics that the Corporate and Tech establishment publishes (which talk about talent shortage in the US) when the establishment “investigates itself”.
I will agree with the commentator Joe Penny below, who says that “Citizenship isn’t even verified… the registrant merely sings an attestation“. In the case of New York, everybody who happened to be in the area and wanted to vote for Mayor, did so. Some say that they voted more than once, which is easy if you change your name every half hour.
But I also cannot believe that you, Mish, do not know these things. You cite “official requirements” that in most cases are bypassed by a simple notarized attestation or a fake home-printed utility bill to prove residence.
Without a strictly controlled and impossible to counterfeit federally-issued Voter ID, we’ll never know. Though even in such a case, it won’t take much from the federal government to compromise their own issued ID or to add exemptions to swing elections in their favor. At the end, it all boils down to character, since all laws and regulations can be so easily bypassed. There are no “Nations of Laws”.

Ironically, it was Latino vote that put Trump over the top, were all those fraudulent votes? If so, Trump needs to be removed from office.

Those votes were easy come and now they are easy go….

https://www.politico.com/news/2026/02/15/south-texas-latino-republicans-immigration-00782129

A slew of polls in recent weeks has shown many Hispanic voters across the country, repulsed by the Trump administration’s aggressive deportation campaign, are souring on the Republican president they supported to a historic degree in 2024.

The 15th Congressional District was among those redrawn by the Texas legislature’s redistricting gambit last year, offering De La Cruz an even more favorable electorate. But that bet relies heavily on Hispanic voters sticking with the GOP: Nearly 80 percent of the district identifies as Hispanic or Latino, and if those voters flip back to the Democratic Party or stay home, it could erase much of the new map’s intended friendliness to Republicans.

All that gerrymandering is going to bite the GOP in the a$$.

In California it was very difficult to get our 18 year old son registered since he had no proof of address (utility bills in his name or signed lease) in addition to proof of citizenship (Real ID driver’s license or SSN). We had to fill out affidavits that he lived with us.

In addition the state notifies you via text that your ballot has been mailed to you and they notify you by text when your ballot has been received. Someone would have to intercept your ballot in the US Mail and somehow change it for something to happen. If you didn’t receive your ballot you would know. If your ballot wasn’t received by the county you would know. If someone used your name and voted in addition to you then you would know.

There are a few people left alive who don’t really have good proof of citizenship. They should be granted provisional ballots. It wouldn’t bother me to have random voting audits in the United States to see if illegal voting was a problem. It never was an issue until Trump came along. Lots of things weren’t issues until Trump. People need to see the correlation.

Yes there are always exceptions. About 1.5% of births are outside of a hospital with 1% in a birthing center and 0.5% at home or elsewhere. I would assume that the birthing center would have procedures established. At home the birth needs to be registered with authorities within 10 – 21 days. I am certain that there are some that would miss that deadline since it probably isn’t at the top of their mind during a birth.

So there are established procedures for out of hospital births it is following through that can be difficult.

To wit:

California verifies a person’s U.S. citizenship status for voter registration primarily through the federal voter registration form, which requires individuals to attest under penalty of perjury that they are citizens.

NY also on top of things (lolz):

In New York, you do NOT need to show any form of ID, Social Security card, passport, or proof of citizenship to register to vote. Just sign an affidavit claiming you’re a U.S. citizen. That’s it.

As for the whole illegals voting red herring, that’s exactly what it is, a distraction. The real fraud is in the absentee ballots / mail-in voting. The differences between registered voters and votes cast in many cases is so far beyond irreconcilable its’s a joke.

https://unite4freedom.com/2024-election-validity-scorecards/

The logic of Mish is that since drunk driving is not allowed, all drivers are sober. In reality, only a tiny percentage of drunks are caught, and on the flip side, there are counties with crazy officers that arrest sober drivers for DUI. The “official statistics” are dangerously wrong in both directions. Then of course Mish cites results of investigations, in which the suspects investigate themselves.
After I have seen what went through at the border during Biden, what the foreign tech managers do with their fake H1-B requirements, and what went on recently in Spain under Darth Sidious’ decision “I will make them legal”, I can finally say that there are no “Nations of Laws”. I have never seen important laws being bypassed and perverted to such an extent by the governments themselves.

Another stupid thing about this rigged vote nonsense is not only that it goes on, but that ONLY Dem do it.

Riiiiight, because people who vote Republican are all moral, and never lie or cheat (on their wives, repeatedly) so the only people who ever cheat in voting are Dems. It’s just another implicit demonization by Republicans of half the population of the U.S– that they are ethical and moral, and Dems are all fraudster and liars. Obviously, objectively this is not the case, and there in fact have been people caught voting twice that were Republicans. but it’s all such low number it doesn’t matter.

The United States Government cashes my income tax checks without any ID. They just use my SSN. California cross checks CDL numbers and SSNs to voter registration. The same number can’t be used twice in registering in California. So it might be possible to register but most likely you would soon be caught when the real person tries to register. And what is the reward? Basically no monetary payback. If it was a real problem then the studies and voter registration audits would turn up some numbers.

Many Mexicans share a Reconquista sentiment that motivates them to vote for the Democrats who share their resentment of what in the past made America great. They are encouraged by Mexican leaders and by the 50 Mexican consulates in the US to vote. There are 10s of millions of illegal aliens in the US. None of them will vote?

What after-the-fact investigating did these bureaucrats do to determine citizenship? Many registrars in blue areas (pretty much all cities) want to register illegal aliens because it is a guaranteed Dem vote.

Registrars can generally determine if they are registering a citizen based on the registrants response to the question “are you a US Citizen?” This question is asked of all applicants, the penalty for lying is perjury. Perhaps this is what had deterred non-citizen voting to the point there are fewer than 30 convictions of non-citizens voting in the US over the last few decades.

I still get carded to buy beer, stay at a hotel or board a plane etc. As long as there are pockets of fraudulent votes, even if immaterial, it calls into question our election process. Drivers license should be fine.

This being implemented so close to the election is clearly meant to keep people who actually HAVE the right to vote from voting.

Put simply, this is an attempt to take away people’s voting rights. If that doesn’t work they’ll lie and deny and scream and cry foul, heck they’ll probably do it all AND put heavily armed ICE agents at the polling stations.

They are not proof of citizenship. I got my driver’s license, perfectly legally in Indiana, while being a college student in the US. I didn’t even have a green card yet, I was not even a permanent resident.
I had lots of paperwork as a non-citizen: driver’s license, utility bills, apartment lease, student ID.
My second closest friend owned and operated a fairly large photographic store in Glenview, IL (17 employees) without being a citizen (he had arrived with an investor’s visa). He had:
i) driver’s license;
ii) permanent resident green card with work authorization (there are also green cards without work authorization, such as for spouses of authorized foreign workers);
iii) business operating license;
iv) home ownership;
v) utility bills from both his house and business;
vi) bank account statements;
vii) paystubs (from his own business);
viii) credit cards…
and he was not a citizen. Perfectly legally.

They aren’t but many states call out your citizenship status on the license.

In Florida for instance my drivers license says ‘Temporary’ on it because I’m a Canadian living and working in the US on a visa similar to the one your friend was on.

More importantly, now that RealID is on every license they can swipe it in a machine and get your status. So a drivers license is in fact sufficient to know whether or not you are a citizen.
